I was diagnosed about 4yrs ago with a bucket handle tear of my medial meniscus and slight bow-legging in both legs. Did some shots and was given neoprene brace as stop gaps for surgery. Finally had the operation as the pain and inconvenience was getting bad. That was two weeks ago and all is going well. My Dr didn't tell me how much he took out, but I saw the pictures and it was around 50% I'd guess. Found some signs of early arthritis as well.
I had my followup and was prescribed an Unloader brace for use during activity and such. I am not a sports guy, mostly walking, do a lot of lifting and side construction work and such.
Has anyone else had this type of brace following surgery? I got it today and it is quite large and bulky, doesn't hurt though and is staying in place. I am not sure how I tore it to start, as I don't play sports and such. Curious on needing repeat surgeries or more complicated surgeries. My first Dr who diagnosed me said these issues lead to other problems and most likely a knee replacement. I'm 30yrs old and just curious on what to look forward to.
