Hey all, first I would like to say that this site is amazing, brilliant information and appreciate everyones input.
Right, so 5 weeks I ago I had ACL surgery using the hamstring graft. I didnt realise I tore my ACL and found out couple of months ago after playing on it for a year!
In my first 4 weeks things were going well, swelling was dropping off, back in gym, began strengthing etc. Then peer pressure came along and I went out for my bday on Friday night! Dont remember much but woke up with my knee really swollen and in a bit of pain. Since then I have elevated my knee and iced it and the swelling has dropped and ROM has been going back to normal ish prior to my night out.
The question I have is that I have swelling above my knee like near the quad muscle and just above my knee, but not on the actuall knee. I went back on crutches for 2 days and now I can walk without pain etc. However, my knee makes them clicks when I walk, it was the same prior to friday. Is there anyway I can check my ACL graft is in tact?
I am worried you see, but the swelling feels like in week 2-3, could it be a defensive mechanism of the knee to swell up to protect me? Also my hamstring feels in pain lol, any help would be greatly appreciated.
