Loose/clicking knee 9 months after ACL reconstruction
« on: August 18, 2012, 03:54:00 AM »
Hi there! So back in January I tore my left ACL skiing and had surgery at the end of February. Everything has been fine since then, except my left ACL is a lot looser than my right one. I'm a little worried because on the 4th of July I was playing catch with a football in the water and twisted around fairly hard to throw and I heard a small pop. I'm sincerely hoping I didn't re-tear my ACL, as it felt a little sore after that. My knee also clicks a lot, when I walk it clicks when I straighten it... My physical therapist said it was probably fine but I just want to make sure everything is okay so I can get released and go back to volleyball. I was just wondering if I have anything to worry about or if this is normal? Thanks in advance for any info.

did your PT not do any actual tests to check the integrity of the ACL? At 4 months from operation to incident, maybe it was too soon to be really testing out the reconstructed knee? Are you having any of the giving out episodes or anything that would suggest a retear?  Hope its not anything major!
full ACL tear 19/06/2010 motocross incident
MRI scan 20/03/2011
onto waiting list 19/04/2011
surgery 11/01/2012

I never did any intense activity until this month, and I just went to my physical therapist 2 days ago to take the test to get released and he said everything is normal and that I don't need to worry, but thank you for your response! :)
