Problems with incision
« on: August 14, 2012, 08:09:22 PM »
I am two months post op from a Fulkerson procedure and two weeks without crutches. I have a lot of scar tissue which makes my knee almost impossible to bend and very very painful. I have been massaging it latelyand it has made it feel better. I have one area over my knee cap where the incision feels tight and not moving. I have tried to massage that area but it feels attached. Everywhere else is ok but that one area is tight. I dont know what to do and think that i may have to go see my surgeon. Could it be scar tissue that has attached to my patella. Please help me. Thank you GURUs

Which incision is this? The incision is prone to scar up as it goes through the fat pad.  Sometimes massaging just isnt enough and they need to go back and extract that scar tissue.

Jude,

What does your OS say??

Take a look at this link.  It will tell you something about scar tissue.

If your OS is not sure, you need to find a specialist who knows what AF is and how to treat it.  Cutting it out.....tearing it with a MUA or PT is not always the best course.

You might try www.ASTYM.com.  It doesn't work for everyone, but it is not invasive and will not cause the AF to progress.
