Something positive: SLR! This morning was the 1st time I could do one, several, unassisted! My knee was also considerably less swollen and painful than usual  ;D. A coincidence that last night was my 1st time taking aspirin since before surgery?( in years actually). I had a dark blue lump on side of knee from Thursday and that too was gone this morning.
Stil not looking forward to being helped tomorrow at PT. I started using your tip Teacher of letting my leg hand on side of bed, letting gravity do some work. Let' see how that works.  :)

Thanks for the support!
I only have 5mn: reached 88 yesterday after much pushing. This afternoon, I have an appointment with OS.  6 weeks already, it is taking forever.

Saw OS yesterday and took my brace away. He gave me 4 days to ditch crutches. He was not too concerned that I was only at 88 at 6 weeks and thought I would be close to if not at ful ROM  by our next appointment in a month. So, no MUA or no CPM which I was a bit worried about.
It does feel weird to be brace free. I guess I'll have to be even more careful with my little wild ones running around. My baby took his 1st steps 2 days ago, I knew he would beat me to it! :)

Great news!!!  I remember asking my surgeon at my 1 week check-up when he'd be concerned about ROM and he said not until 12 weeks.  When I went back at 1 month post-op (my PT so generously came with) with flexion still a major issue at that point, he said he'd be happy with 90 by 8 weeks and full ROM by 12 but that he'd consider the flexionator at 8 if needed.  Congrats on no brace-it's such a wonderful feeling, although a bit awkward to get used to at first.  And don't worry about the crutches-easy to ditch them around the house but feel free to bring them with when running errands at the store, etc.  If you don't need them, you can always toss them in the shopping cart but it's nice to have them if needed, especially towards the end of errands when muscles begin to fatigue.

Yay on your little one taking his first steps-an exciting time for all and although he beat you to it, I'm sure you'll be more steady on your feet with less 'falls' along the way!   ;D

Ouch again. Traveling this week, after seating on an airplane for 5h and a very uncomfortable bed the first night, my hips are very stiff and painful to the point of not being able to rotate in bed by myself. My knee is also very sore and stiffer. I have not ditched the crutches yet because of having to walk around quite a bit. My kingdom for a full body massage.

I can barely manage sitting for 20-30 minutes; the thought of a 5 hr. plane ride sounds horrible!  Hopefully after a day or two, the stiffness will subside.  Try doing some stretching and ROM exercises to see if that loosens things up a bit and once it does, I'm sure those crutches will go away in a heartbeat!

Continued virtual hugs for healing with less pain!

"There and back again"... I wish it was a hobbit's tale but I'm still recuperating from this 'little' excursion. I had PT yesterday, first in a week and a half and was measured at 92. Not bad granted how swollen my knee was and it is still going to take a couple of days to erase the set back from the trip.
I've started experiencing a rather scary feeling in my leg this past couple of weeks: it feels like it is over extending and about to dislocate at the same time. :(
At first I thought it was the pair of shoes I was wearing as they were new. I assumed the heels (very low ones, don't worry :D) were unstable. However this just happenned again today wearing sneakers I've had for a while.

Hoping that wierd sensation about overextending and dislocating has gone away...

Hows ROM and all that PT stuff going? I need my dose of MPFL news today!  :P

Hi yogagirl! Thanks for checking on your MPFL peeps! :)
I have not felt it again ince last week. Maybe weak quads and still recuperating from the trip? PT has pointed out last week that I was no longer fully extending leg (was guarding it really, I can fully extend it). My leg never fully extended before surgery (would dislocate) so I took the bad habit of always having bent knees walking. So I am working on that again. Maybe the feeling of overextension was just normal full extension coupled with weaker quads. Not sure if this makes sense.
Yesterday, I reached 96...slow progress but progress. :)

So glad that you haven't had that awful feeling since then! Whew!  :D

I'm with you about the babying and then learning to reextend all the way... I defintely do that protecting thing once in a while, but when I notice it, I stop what I'm doing and extend it out and stretch the hammies and quads for a few minutes.

Glad you're making progress!! 96 is better than where you were! How are daily pain levels these days? What are you at about 8 weeks post op?

Yeah for 96 degrees!!!   ;D  Getting beyond that 90 mark is huge.  Have you officially ditched the crutches?

Hey guys!

Just realized that I'm exactly 1 month away from my surgery... I'm teaching yoga this evening and then hitting the gym. I want huge strong hulk legs before surgery time.

How are ya'll doing?
