7 months post op on meniscus tear removal..still in pain
« on: July 25, 2012, 11:04:50 PM »
Knee pain for years, went to PT, had a MRI done (bone bruising and blood in my ACL) i had an exploratory scope on December 19. I was told there was multiple tears to my meniscus removed/trimmed, and that I also had plica. I started PT the next day. Crutches off and on for about a month. I had to have my knee aspirated on Jan 16 after my skin was hot and abnormal swelling.

I was always in a ton of pain, but I thought it was normal after surgery. My PT forcefully tried bending my knee and such. To this day I can't bend it all the way back. The last time I went to the doctor was maybe last month, or before, asking about a higher grade knee brace for soccer..which i'm still waiting on.
I decided to play, since it's my last year, and i'll be in pain even if i wasn't playing.

Why am I still in so much pain after such a 'simple' surgery? My knee still gives out just as much. (PT feared maybe 1 month or 2 after surgery it was torn again, but my Dr. disagreed.) My knee is tender around the areas of meniscus. I have a ton of pain on my medial side, by my MCL. When im sitting cross legged, and I decide to get up, I have to pick my knee up and hold it and slowly wait to straighten it out. I was on celebrex and tramadol, I also had a compound cream made for me. I stopped taking all 3, because nothing worked.

Any idea? Could my meniscus be torn again? I don't know what to do. I'm pretty sure my doctor doesn't know either, and that he's tired of me going and complaining about my knees.

could be that the surgeon didnt take enough meniscus out (as to try to preserve more of it) and that is whats irritating you. or maybe that happened and it caused a re-tear early on

good luck

possibly ask your surgeon if that is a possibility, if they remember if they went easy on the removal. i'm not sure. you can try human growth hormone or stem cell injections. :(

strenghen as much as you can, thatll take the stress of your knee.

i just read, you're 17 - you should still be growing and healing. does exersize help with pain? biking?

This looks very promising. I cant wait to ask my dr to try this when I see him in a couple months.

It's a mix of stem cells , prp and human grown hormone to fix bad knees. The poster had failed surgeries and his meniscus fixed from this.

Apparently stem cells cause the miraculousness while HGH kick starts the growth and prp creating a good environment for all this to occur.
