Must be an nhs thing ::) just keep doing what u can. I didn't think my knees would bend but now they're progressing :) don't panic yet I'm 2 weeks ahead of you, and ice is fantastic, so is a hot water bottle under the thigh soothes aches. :)
2002-2012 regular dislocations of both knees, tried everything from braces and casts to physio.
June 2012 MPFL surgery on both knees

Another great thing that I have come to love is Mederma cream - it really helps heal the scars!!!

Cheers Guys!  :-*

I love the fact I can come on here, have a bit of a panic and get some sage advice.

Catherine - other than the numbness the knee doesn't feel too. I'm not really taking any pain meds at all apart from at night and I can weight bare and do a couple of steps without crutches (wearing my brace), I feel this is ok for 2 1/2 weeks into recovery. I expect the pain to increase again when I start PT though.

Tiggs - the numbness is pretty widespread at the moment, it feels bizzare!

I'm getting used to cleaning the wound an putting vasaline (what the nurse recommended)

Oh, another question! Did anyone else have a hugely bruised ankle? Mine at time has been more painful than the knee, it was quite sollen but now the bruising has come out it has gone down and is just bruised!!

Wishing you all pain-free day.

Hello Franny
I did not have a bruised ankle but I did have a swollen one!! Sounds like you are doing well for 2 1/2 weeks - keep us posted on your progress. I was numb for a few weeks and I still have 1 numb spot that hopefully will go away but I have been told that it might not which at this point is fine.
