Day 73

Ok I'm terrible I forget to write and update this :S

But anyways, I'm on like week 11 and I'm walking normal enough. Maybe not quick but I can stand on the balance boards in physio and catch a ball without wobbling/dropping it. I can cycle. My pain is minimal if any. I don't really use my cructhes. I use one if I go out shopping but that's more for when I get tired. Right knee has had full ROM for a while now. And the left is at 120o I have 10o more to get my max, but the physio isn't worried. If it doesn't go that 10 I can still function fully at 120. But yipee. I can walk up and down stairs and I managed it all in the summer months. O I was lunge stepping in physio yesterday and I managed no problems and climbing on steps without my crutches or holding anything. To be honest my physio said I'm 2 months ahead of rehab. And I only get physio for 30mins a week. (Plus I still haven't done my exercises) the physio said to me yesterday you must be working soo much at home. I honestly haven't my boyfriend is laughing at me cause I agreed with her and said of course I am! I don't do any. I forget to! And then can't be bothered. I'd probz be miles ahead if I did them?! Lol. Well I'm back to college. In 2 days and my aim was to be able to go back and I can :) and I also have my holiday in 2 weeks :D so I am fit and able to go to it!! :)

This op was worth it now :) happy healing everyone :)

xeplasma it really is the light at the end of the tunnel! dont forget though i had mine a while before you, so just kkeep working hard!!

i went back to college yesterday.  my tutors had forgotten i was getting an opp, so they are now concerned how i'll manage the days, so i'm returning part time as the building has 4 levels and 1 lift that well rarely wants to work :S so theyre making provisions for me to study a various times and just to do what i can, they'll send the rest of the work home.

but i had to stand for half and hour in a corridor and obv sitting on the floor was out, ( i would of barely got down and never stood up again!! lol ) i'm tired now! but i did manage it :)

Awesome! Your posts have given me so much hope, though I know everyone's recovery is different... But your positivity is really helpful in staying optimistic about what's lying ahead for me while I wait til surgery day... eek! Thanks for sharing everything, keep up the good work!

Day 109

I'm such an awful person, completely forgot about the site? After the help it supplied me with through my recovery!

I'd have to say I'm pretty much normal. Although I do have weekly physio, I go out and barely use my crutches. Sometimes I take one if I know I'll be out for a lengthly period of time, but I walk around Tesco and do my shopping without any aids.

The old left leg doesn't like it when I walk around on any other surfaces except home, it feels unsteady? Which is unusual as there are combinations of wood, tile and carpet?

I decorated my bedroom  as we just moved house and I was up ladders, as I'm only 5foot tall, to reach the ceiling. And I had no problems. I'm climbing stairs every day loads of times a day. Nothing is as difficult :) I also use the bath shower, so I climb in and out myself. Its great to be honest !

Sitting on my knees is the only catch, still can't do that without pain :(

All in all I can't complain. Even my hoilday was awesome :)

I'll try and update this when I next see my consultant.

Well its just over 7 months past my op, things are great! I haven't used crutches in forever, physio ended mid november for good, and I even passed my driving test :D
I knocked my knees a few times, that wasn't fun! But they didn't dislocate so I'd say that was a bonus!
We got hit with snow, well a weeks worth, but it was scary as once it started to melt the paths were jus pure ice!! But again I survived!
But well I would have to say looking back on it, the pain wasn't fun! And the loss of my independance wasn't great either, but its done now, and by having both done together wasn't like I was going back in to repeat it all again this year!!
