MACI surgery of patella

Just had 2nd stage maci to centre rear of my patella
In a brace for past two weeks since and have been told to keep this on for at least a further four!!
Swelling and pain still severe and movement at around 40 degrees.
Has anyone had this done in this location of the knee and was it a success or failure
I'm 41 this year and am told of it fails a total replacement will be required :-(

I am trying to get my maci operation approved by BUPA, was your funded by priviate or NHS and who performed the operation.  I am under Professor Briggs and he has been in dicussion with BUPA for the past month but with no outcome yet.  So i would be very interested to know how yours was done.
