Bruising above knee caps!
« on: June 09, 2012, 07:38:23 PM »
Hi there,

I have not been on KG now for some time as my knees have been ok and been too busy to post the last couple of weeks. I am on holiday with my mum in the Yorkshire Dales for one week and went for a long walk and ran up a steep hill and felt some pain and discomfort in both knees and now got bruising above both kneecaps. What causing it suddenly as it was ok this morning!

Seeing my sports physician in two weeks time and could explain to him what's been going on recently with both knees. I will not reduce my running enjoy it too much.

Probably best to reduce the running I would think. Whatever is being aggravated would most likely not be helped by running. And sorry but I have no clue why bruising could suddenly occur - perhaps the muscles were overworked when you ran up a steep hill.
Have had tilted kneecaps for many years, and occasional patellar tendinitis.

Thanks for the reply,

I have to point out that the bruising went way as quickly as it came and was not as visable the following morning. I am known to overdo things at times and won't go for a run this week while on holiday in the Yorkshire Dales. The left knee ok now and right knee is more swollen then the left at the bottom of the kneecap.

Maybe it is soft tissue issues or maltracking that's has caused it and will be seeing my sports physician in 9 days time and can ask for his opinion on what it could be!

Maybe suprapatellar bursitis?  Its mostly a guess, but something to possibly look into.
