nearly 3 weeks post arthro portal not healing well

Hi, new to this site so hello  :)  but sadly not new to knee grief  ::)

Having had 4 previous arthroscopies I was confident about having another but my 5th is not healing as well.
I have to be honest and say that I was up and about working (on feet for quite a few hours with light lifting and carrying) within 36 hrs but whilst one of the portals has healed well and have minimal pain the other one on inner side, sorry no good with tech terms, took nearly 10 days to stop bleeding and then a lovely physio  >:( decided to do a good deal of knee cap manipulation which caused excrucitaing pain and still does now. There is also bruising that keeps returning after I have been active on the knee. I cannot rest that side of the knee down without severe pain and it is impeeding my recovery exercises. My GP is next to useless so any advice would be greatly received.

Has it opened up again and started bleeding? Or is it just generally sore?

I had an MUA and arthroscopic release last week and 3 days post op one of the portals was still oozing. It closed the next day but then another opened (I have 3 portals). Then the first one opened again!!

Anyway the result was I was dragged back into theatre yesterday to have the whole thing opened, debrided  and restitched. There was a large haematoma in the lateral capsule which was causing pressure build up and fluid to leak.

I'm no expert but maybe you should get it checked. I wasn't going to....I just thought it would stop leaking at some point. But turns out we managed to catch it before it got nasty.

Hi, it hasn't opened up but has gone very red over past day or so unlike the other portal which is pretty much non-existant now and the bruising is very specific to that site not just general post op bruising.
It is the pain that concerns me more than anything, it is very sharp and will stop me in my tracks. I have never felt this type of pain after artrho before  ???

What did you have done during this last surgery? Scopes can vary tremendously in terms of pain depending on what the surgeon does...maybe more was done this time around? Do you have much swelling? Did the pain only come on after the kneecap manipulation? I guess the old RICE is probably your friend for a wee while to try and let things calm down......but if you're really worried I would be checking it out despite the GP being useless. Better safe than sorry as said by Rothera.  ;)

Hi,

Apart from the portal not healing straight away it felt fairly ok and certainly not in the pain or with the bruising the physio left me with after the manipulation. I haven't got any swelling left just this pain and recurring bruising and very red portal incision.
