Shakia - hope you're feeling better by now and the pain is easing off for you. Did you get good news from the surgeon about how the op went? I'm up early in the morning, have to check in at the hospital for 7.30am to wait for my HW removal, so I'm keeping a day behind you! Will update here as soon as poss!

I do have damage at the back of my patella so he cleaned that up. One screw was causing a problem as shown by the ct scan. If I can work how how to post a pic, I'll put one up.

Still pretty sore, just did my exercises.

Its more swollen than it looks in the pic. The pad with the blood on it is where the drain was, that felt awful coming out. There was about 250ml of blood that had drained out within 24 hours after the surgery. Will be interesting to see how it is tomorrow without the drain.

Day two, my god it hurts. Finally got some sleep last night to be woken up at 6am by my knee.

I'm getting around on one crutch as its weight bearing as long as I go really slow and don't bend it when I have weight on it. Swelling is up today now that the drain is out.

Shakia, so sorry to hear that you're in so much pain right now! The pics speak volumes, it looks horrendous!

Feel a bit guilty reporting back on my hardware removal yesterday now as all went well and I have been relatively pain free since I got home. Some stinging and soreness around the wound and a bit wobbly walking, but other than that it already feels better than when those damned pins were jarring each time I moved. I've put full details on my blog if anyone is interested (link in my signature below), so I won't repeat them here and distract from your post as I'm sure you will appreciate some feedback from others who have experienced similar.

I guess the difference is that you've had a lot more work done than me, so its not just the wound you're dealing with. I so hope things start to calm down for you soon! Are you still in hospital or at home yet? Keep your spirits up, sending you prayers and good healing vibes. Cari

That's great news Cari, I have wondering how your surgery went.

My knee is feeling a fair bit better today, didn't wake up reaching for the painkillers  :)

I'll check out your blog.

Well your experience sounds much better than mine Cari  ;D Glad you aren't in too much pain.

I have exercises to do three times a day. Still can't move my lower leg forward and no hope of lifting it up. Tensing the muscles around my knee, or trying to lock my knee, is a great way to almost pass out. I'm walking better today, can get around the house without crutches, it's not pretty or fast but I get there. Still using one crutch when I am out of the house though.

My knee is giving way on me sometimes and my left knee, that's waiting for its own surgery, is really not happy about being used so much. It's giving way a fair bit and quite painful.

I plan on taking next week off work though I can do some work from home which is good as I am getting bored. Might return to work the week after. Just the thought of stepping up onto the bus and walking through the city makes me feel sick right now.

It's getting better, managed to get out of the house today without too much trouble. Still can't lift my leg but can bend it a bit more and it's generally less painful. Have halved my painkiller intake. Bruising is coming out now.
