Loose knee cap
« on: October 15, 2011, 02:01:53 AM »
Hello everyone,
I've been having sharp pain in my left knee when I bend/put pressure on it in certain ways for about a month. I saw a sports OS a few days ago, and he told me that I have a loose knee cap. I've never dislocated my patella before, but, having done gymnastics and skateboarding, my knees have taken some hard falls. From the way he explained it, those injuries have added up and messed around with cartilage (or something to that effect; I know he mentioned cartilage) and whatnot, and a year or two later I'm feeling pain from it. Something like that.

He ordered an MRI, but I'm not totally sure what to do in the meantime. It doesn't hurt when I walk or jog, but I can't imagine that running on it would be good. He said that I would probably eventually brace my knee and do some physical therapy, though that might not make it go away entirely. What should I do in the meantime? Is exercising on it bad? I just don't want to inadvertently make it worse. Thanks guys!
