New Kneeguru Facebook Page For Arthrofibrosis Launching
« on: April 09, 2012, 07:16:58 AM »
Hey All

Kneeguru is in the process of launching a facebook page on arthrofibrosis that I am helping with. We need at least 30 "likes"  to obtain a better url address. We also invite you to place any "comments" on the FB page too. Here is the link

http://www.facebook.com/pages/KNEEgurus-Arthrofibrosis-Corner/182279865221905

There is still much more work to be done, such as linking to many of your threads ( 2 links done so far), so please bear with us as this is being created.

Pam,

I am happy to have signed on as the "American Victory Division.'  I don't have a personal FB page and ignore it as much as possible, but anything as important as AF and supporting KG I am happy to assist with.

Hi Russ

Thank you for your support. The page is shaping up to be very informative. Branching out to Facebook is a way to bring KNEEguru Arthrofibrosis Corner, to a whole new audience looking for answers, to this devastating condition.

Pam,

My pleasure!  Hey all you KG's out there looking at this thread!  Please go to the AF site on FB and "like" it!  I see so many of you reading the page, but we need your support.  Even if you don't have AF, I guarantee you it is one of those complications that can come into your life without warning.  I had more than 20 major surgeries before having a TKR.  I ended up with AF and not one of my six doctors (3 OS and 3 Infectious Disease) diagnosed it early enough for the treatment to work.  It CAN be treated if we get the knowledge out there and let people know what to look for!

This great site (Knee Guru) has already saved me from making a huge mistake with my daughter!  It is worth any support we can give it and its projects!  I have been out of work for 2 years due to AF....The knee isn't keeping me from working, but the AF and the accompanying Heterotropic Ossification is!!  We need to work together to get the word out.

Missmyknee and the Moderator are outstanding knowledge resources and if they get enough support, hopefully, we can get some outstanding doctors to comment and instruct us!

Hi Pam and Russ

I have 'liked' the page too. I am sure it will help people and at the very least give them a starting point when faced with AF.

Thank you for all of the effort that you put in to helping others Pam, you truly are inspiring and we appreciate all of your support and knowledge.

Thank you so much for all you do here on the board. I don't know where I would be without the information I have garnered here. I have an appt. with Dr Lonnie Paulos on Monday next week hoping he can do something for me in dealing with this crazy complication. It is a 6 hour round trip drive but I would make it daily if he could help me get through this!

At least I know enough about this now to ask questions. Amazing what 8 months and lots of internet research can get you. Just wish more OS were more aware!

Rita

Oh that's great news, Pam!  My computer has been out of service for a week and before that...just not had much time.  But I will most definitely look forward to seeing it and participating.  Thank you so very much for your hard work and commitment!  I am going to attend a conference in Indiana in early May (have to call for more details) but it has to do with chronic health issues and genetics and what progress medicine is making.  We can ask questions of the doctors and other medical personnel who will be speaking and before I register, I am going to ask about our condition....as I do believe AF is genetic in some cases.....rare as it supposedly is.....though autoimmune illnesses are common on my dad's side.  Some of the illnesses they deal with are what they call the "orphan" illnesses.

Ok all KG's,

I have offered to pay for an all expenses paid subscription to Knee Guru for anyone who "likes" the new AF site on FB!  If you want an entire year's subscription to KG, just get on FB and like the new AF page!

I may be washing dishes to pay for all of this, but it will be worth it!!!

Hi Pam!

I want to add my gratitude for your hard work in helping as many people as you can!  How about if I ask my son to vote for it?  I have a good friend with a lot of knee issues but she refuses to sign up for FB.  Some people feel strongly about not doing so.  What do you think?  Wanted to run it by you.  None of the people I know with knee issues have a FaceBook acct and don't have AF.

Hi Patty

Thank you very much and thank you, for all your work, esp with your information and first hand account of doing ASTYM. Your improvement has been a great testament to this method of treating arthrofibrosis. How about asking those who are posting over on the We Are KNEEgeeks FB page, who have scar tissue , to go over and "like" the AF Corner. You don't even have to have AF, to "like" it ! ....it's hard to "like" AF, when we hate it so much....hahaha...(couldn't resist)

Hmmmm.....hope this response shows up!  I posted a comment and don't see it.  Well will try again........Pam I reminded everyone on Knee Geeks Face Book again  to please vote for the AF site.  Hopefully we'll get what we need!  I also posted here (don't see it) that my PT is having me walk very briskly around the PT room (very large) starting 6 times around and will increase each week.  Was amazed how well I did!  did my exercises afterwards and didn't have pain!  Going twice a week now and handling it well....just get sleepy from it for a few days after....the first day especially but normal.  Continuing to improve.  The setback from trying to weed the garden is gone.....lasted almost a month.  Just have to be careful not to stand at bad angles and put undue pressure on my knees.  But all in all, am very happy with how I'm coming along.
