literature only shows marcaine is toxic to stem cells.....not lidocaine, especially diluted lidocaine with normal saline

I'm not so sure.  I've been advised that if I do prolo, I should ask for another agent to mix with the D-50.

Here are 2 studies showing lidocaine is safer to MSC's than marcaine.  Regenexx doesn't mention what anesthetic they use and there aren't too many options.....let me know what the big secret is because everything I've read and been taught says lidocaine is the safest to stem cells.  If a patient wants it without anesthetic, then that might be the only option besides using oral narcotics such as morphine or fentanyl.  I use 0.5% lido diluted in as much saline as the patient can stand and I'm in and out within 15 minutes before mixing with PRP.

I've asked...haven't heard back.  I'm sure that we can post to the Regenexx page on facebook and ask them there.  Maybe they can be a bit more forthright?

Hello Everybody,

Its been a while that I posted here. Here is my latest update.

I  had my first Regenexx-SD injection by August 2011, since then I have been strictly following the exercise regime, diet, supplements etc. Initially I wasn't sure if this going to help me and didnot see much results even after 6 months of the injection but I kept following  supplements/exercise etc, I hope most of you might have read my earlier post and different treatment I tried from August 2009.

My Old post - > http://www.kneeguru.co.uk/KNEEtalk/index.php?topic=40048.285

But after following all those instructions sincerely I am seeing better results with respect to pain/swelling. I was walking with two crutches before and now I am walking without any crutches. Continuous exercises have helped to regain my strength back on my knee and hip. I am walking comfortably better. I am able to walk bit faster and for longer duration. So I decided it was right time to go for my second Regenexx-SD injection.

Today I have started the second set of injections, I just reached home after my first Regenexx-PL and by 22nd January I will be having my Regenexx-SD followed by Regenexx-SCP

This time I did not travel to Colorado but found a doctor [Dr.Shiple] close to my place who does Regenexx procedure.

I forgot to mention that I also had 4 HGH injections [15 I.U] to my injured knee [weekly once], after 4 injections I stopped taking HGH because of the side effects, not sure why but my body reacted differently to HGH so stopped taking HGH by May 2012.

Anyway will update here after my Regenexx-SD by Jan 22nd.

Hello All,

I had my second Regenexx-SD injection yesterday. I also had fat along with the Bone Marrow.
The knee is very sore [on a scale of 1-10 right now the pain is @ 9] , too much of pain and swelling.
Last time when I  had the injection from Colorado I didn't had this much of pain and it was manageable.
Finding it very difficult to keep  my foot down because of pain.

As usual am going to follow the usual  post-op routines and will provide updates.

Yesterday I received a copy of my second MRI results.

I thought it might be a good idea to show the two. I had my first -sd injection nearly two years ago.

First MRI prior to –sd

Second MRI post –sd

Main difference now is I have been diagnosed with an osteochondral lesion. I'm not sure if has developed after my injections or was missed off the first time round. I need to get this verified from a doctor. I can confirm that i haven't injured my ankle inbetween each MRI.

Pain levels now are greater than they were 2 years ago. I'm leaning towards a scope, but am pretty nervous about agreeing to it. I'd much prefer to give regenexx another go, so awaiting a treatment plan from them. It might be a case of trying both.

Struge,

Did you get a chance to talk to Irentat[Ben] from this forum.
He had success with similar ankle issue by following HGH protocol from Dr. Allan Dunn.
In case If you are leaning towards surgery may be you can try Dr.Dunn's approach.
