Hi.
I would be really grateful for any input at all.  So I had ACL recon (hamstring graft) and meniscus repair March 2011.

Rehab went great initially. At 6 months operated leg was at 95% of other leg on hop test. I slowly transitioned into rugby training and by 8 months I was doing everything fine, and although lacked some power still in the operated leg, and was looking to return to playing at 9 months.

Then, half way in to a 5k on the treadmill some quite bad pain on the inside of knee towards the front, roughly on joint line, gradually came on.  I carried on running initially but then had to stop.  I had had no pain like this at anytime post surgery, or pre-surgery. It didnt make sense to me as for the previous month I had been in almost full rugby training, sprinting and stepping with no problems, and then this pain comes on jogging in a straight line.

Physio thought not a big problem, maybe a result of the increase in training I was doing and knee tracking differently causing a bit of ligament pain or inflammation. Knee was very stable and she thought there was no obvious meniscus problems, so said don’t run on it for a few weeks, but keep doing light weights and bike. That I did, without any pain, and although I could feel it walking initially it settled down gradually. But as soon as I ran on it again, pain came back immediately.

I think it is the meniscus. Seems to be too high for hamstring insertion/ bursa issues, and although I also had a minor medial ligament tear with the original injury, I just don’t think it is that. The pain is only on impact as I run, squatting with weights is ok. No pain on twisting unless knee fully flexed, which brings it on.  Does anyone have any thoughts? Any input would brilliant. I have booked to see surgeon but that wont be for a month.  physio says because medial meniscus repair was to posterior horn at the back, it cannot be causing this pain at the front on the inside, which must be something else. This makes some sense but is it correct?
Cheers
