Post ACLR Questions
« on: September 07, 2011, 01:52:50 AM »
I am now 3 months post op out of a right knee ACL reconstruction and a medial meniscus repair. Thus far I have had nearly a flawless recovery, but we are just now starting more intense excercises. The past couple of days from time to time my knee has this dull ache in the middle-back. I do not feel like it is a 'bad ache' I feel as if maybe I have just overdone it a bit and need to rest it up. I mostly came here to talk with others about it and soothe my mind about the topic so I can quit worrying about it. It has also been stormy and cooler weather these past days which could be part of it. So I guess what I'm asking is this part of the healing process, or has anyone else experienced such?

Today is seems almost like a hamstring tendon problem. No swelling at all and only hurts on nearly full extension.

Probably nothing to panic about. May be just a little weak as your knee's endurance will not have fully restored.

Odd you should mention the weather. It's really cooled off here this week and I noticed before training outdoors last night that the petella tendon area from where they harvested the graft was a bit sore before I'd even started. Disappeared after a warm-up and some stretches.

Physio ever since!

Sounds pretty normal to me! I frequently went through periods of behind the knee pain, generally from straining a little different than normal...and the advent of cooler, damper weather shakes things up as well (I joke that I now have a barometer for a knee...i can tell when the weather changes are coming!)
May 2006 ruptured right ACL and tore medial meniscus
July 14 2006 allograft ACLR and meniscus repair
July 2011..reinjury - is my ACL okay??
December 2011- surgery - turned out to be a articular cartilage tear - MFX and lateral menisectomy
