Hi All,

We if been on the Donor waitlist for a week and a half and got the call!  SHOCKED to say the least!  I was anticipating 3 months!  I go in on Monday the 11th for the both Osteochondrol allograft and high tibia osteotomy.

Can anyone give me some feedback as far as recovery time - i.e. how long were you on crutches, pain, any advice!

Thanks~

How did your surgery go?  I just got the news today from my ortho doc that we are going to start the process of scheduling osteochondral allograft.  Getting pre-auth's from insurance, etc.  Wondering how your pain is, how the procedure went and just overall how your recovery is doing.  I'm very nervous about this procedure even thought this doctor has already done 1) AnteriorMedialization and 2) Carticel on the same knee so far.  Thanks

Hi sorry I am just checking into this.  I am going to blunt - I have a HUGE tollerance of pain and I have to tell you . . .every time I stood up after surgery the pain put stars in my eyes and instant tears from the blood rush to the osteotomy.  OMG it was unbelievable.  They had to perform a second surgery on top of the OATS Allograft.  My kneecap was too small to perform the allograft on so they did microfracture on it.  I have recovered unbelievably fast - but AGAIN I am a person that does not sit well at all.  I push my leg to the limit and the doc puts me in time out constantly.  I am walking with a tad limp but there seems to be a new development under my kneecap that is aggrevating it.  Did you go for your procedure as of yet?
