Boyka - good to hear you're going strong. Keep it coming on the double legs - havent attempted any leg grabs myself yet
Day 136: Went to see my exercise specialist in the morning and did a lot of exercises. She commented that I have been making huge progress overall - particularly left glutes have really caught up and in many positions left leg is now more stable. She did a running assessment and said I was barely slouching my hips and I got officially dfischarged from physio - yay.
Went Tuina at night and my guy commented on how muscle quality was really giod but IT band, inner quads and foot / ankle are really stiff still...
Day 137: Went wrestling in the morning and felt stiff as expected, all went well including sparring and I did stretches after. Quads were stiffer than expected therefore greater knee pull when stretching but nothing acute or serious!

Hello all... looks like im probably going to have surgery next week. Just need to be cleared for surgery by an internist.
The doc said that he will do local + sedation. Does this mean I will be awake? Hmm... haven't had surgery since I was a kid. I feel kind of queasy about it. I dont even like needles. LOL. I dont mind getting twisted into a pretzel... but I dont like surgery. Better man up.
The doc also said I should be able to do full sparring in 4 weeks time if everything is smooth. I think hes probably being too optimistic. Hehe.
Just blowing off some steam... kinda nervous.

Been having a crazy week of not training cause working 12-16 hrs per day. One interesting observation though:
Day 138 and 139: No training just working long hour. Knee is stiff and sticky but not painful.
Day 140: Wake up extra early unrested and do 40 mins cycling in the gym and then work till late. Managed to go to the gym briefly again at night just 10 mins fast running, 1000m fast rowing and some weights on the gym ball. Knee been stiff but better after every unit of exercise. Whole body is stiff and due to lack of exercise and stretching. Then back to work. When I get home I sit down on my heels and I here a loud crunch absolutely painfree. I then push up and down a bit off the heels and back on and both knees are quite crunchy specially left after the first loud crunch. No pain whatsoever. I notice that whenever I move down there ois a loud click near the medial meniscus area. so I stop go to the bathrooom and when I try again 1 hour later its a similar experience. Mildly worrying and weird but luckily no pain.
Day 141: I wake up quite worried re the knee but it is fine just usual niggles (maybe the slightest pinch or just imaginary
) but nothing worrying. When I get home late all body incl. knee in particular is stiff. I resolve to do a test and I pull my heel in to my bottom standing a coupe of time to warm up a bit and then sit on my heels - NO pop / loud crunching this time. I try 2-3 times to the same result and dcide to give it a rest to be safe. I think its a week of no sleep little exercise and little stretching that gave me the very loud and persistant crunching...
Day 142: Should be my last late night this week and no exercise again. Knee has usual niggles and a bit of added stiffness. Cant wait for some good gym sessions!!!

Day 143: Did 2 training sessions today. 1st one was grappling / wrestling drills, wrestling cable and the throwing the dummies. Still feel stiff and crunchy and tired after a couple of 2 am work finishes but muscled through the session. Then later at night I diid 15 mins of high rev cycling and hamstring workout plus abs and chest followed by 40 mins stretching. Stretching felt AMAZING though I started being quite stiff. No crunching / clicking when doing deep sttetches. Did not fully load to be careful but felt fine.
Day 144: Woke up with stiff and sore muscles after a week of nearly no exercise and then hard exercise. Went horse riding which was really good, some pain free clicking but compounded the soreness in glutes, hamstrings and quads... No strtetching and just usual sticky left kneecap.
Day 145: Went to the gym 15 mins of high rev cycling then 5 mins running at 13.5kmph and further 10 mins high rev cycling. Then stretching. Muscles are incredibly sore and stiff still so no deep stretches but stretched for good 30 mins other than that. Muscles still been sore and stiff since and knee has usual niggles..

Day 146: Knee is still a bit crunchy and stiff - maybe tiny bit more than usual. Went to the gym in the morning and did 25 mins cycling - mixture of high and low revs. Then did hamstrings, pull-ups and some core. Followed by 20 mins stretching. Was still very stiff throughout the stretching but better than yesterday. Therefore did not do any very deep stretches...
Bring on BJJ tomorrow morning...

Day 147: Went BJJ in the morning made sure I did hamstring curls and 155 ins low rev cycling first. Muscles are still sore from workout last week and knee has usual little niggles. BJJ goes well with 3 solid rounds of sparring at the end and some stretching after - man are my muscles still tight. Nothing to report during the day. Same old same old. At night I randomly get a pinch in the meniscus area. Nothing bad should hopefully be gone tomorrow morning.

Iv bascically been doing the same routine with my knee- single leg squats, reverse lunges and proprioception exercises. My knee feels good and my wrestling is better than before which is odd. I still havent got back to hill sprints since the last time, will make a point to try them this week.
I had a bit of a scare on Monday i was doing BJJ and was getting up and out from guard my training partner still had a hold of my GI trouser on my right leg, as i jump out i kind of slipped and my whole weight went on my left kneecap. Its just bruised really but i got a bit of a shock at first but its all good.
My luck the one day i didnt wear my knee pad and that happened

Day 148: Woke up and for the first time in a week my muscles arent unduly stiff. Knee is fine with usual mild niggles / grinding. Going to the gym at night for an easy session. 30 mins of cycling (mixture of low and high rev), some core and hamstrings. Then about 30 mins stretching incl. deep stretches at the end. Wasnt sure if I should push myself to this cause muscles are still very stiff and I dont want too much pull on the knee but surprisingly good, no crunching / clicking / pain. Mild discomfort around back of knee / knee cap on full flexion at first then no problem. I even fully load it!

Boyka - good to hear things are going well. I ve made a couple of similar experiences. Though I have only been to a handful of wrestling sessions but I noticed that my leg and core strength and stability is better than ever after all the focussed proprio exercises and this is really showing in my wrestling though I m not yet there technique and conditioning wise. Psychology i.e. trust in knee / body is also an issue (not so much for BJJ though...)
Out of interest do you still get these niggles?
Day 149: Went BJJ this morning. Did 10 mins low rev cycling and hamstring exercises to prpeare. Was a really easy session with Eduardo absent and only a handful of new whitebelts. No probs!
Knee has had normal little niggles for the rest of the day and I may try and do some stretching later...

I do get the odd niggles of discomfort like kind of grinding at times but it doesnt stop me from doing things.
Im always careful with my leg always thinking about it when sparring and stuff. It has made me better at certain things though than i was before.
Iv noticed if i have been on the treamill running for a long time i can feel an ache in the knee a day after doing the run. I jst take some anti- inflammatries though that helps it.

Can't sleep, so decided to update you guys about my progress. It is 1am in the morning here, I had my surgery done around 2:30 pm. Details are kind of shady because I was so drugged up, I cant remember everything the doctor told me
. The doc said he found a lot more damage than he thought he would . The operation took 1.5 hours. I cant remember if he said he repaired my meniscus or not. I hope not.
So far I have 0 pain. Probably because I am still drugged up? My knee does not feel particularly weak, and I can bent it 90 degrees quite easily albeit with a painless "clicking" noise. I dont want to overdo it. I also dont want to be overly optimistic. I really hope I did not get my meniscus repaired.
I was given crutches, but honestly I dont think I need it yet. I can walk without a noticeable limp. They see stay on it till you see the doc in a week. Did you guys use your crutches at all?
I guess I'll wait and see till tomorrow morning.

Was advised not to use any crutches by my surgeon and only do what I can naturally... You should phone the guy and ask whart has been done. That'll determine your rehab etc.
Day 150|: 5 months now and I am going strong! Had a stiff knee today so went to the gym at night and did wrestling drills and dummy. All good then did 10 mins stretching followed by deep stretches. There it is again that slight rubbing sensation when I sit my bum to my heels and repeat it. It goes away after a couple of times but I suspect that when my muscles are tight the joint space narrows and there is a tiny bit of bone on bone action right at the back of the bone where the meniscus got cut out. Absolutely pain-free but worth bearing in mind re long term health.
I go to my Tuina guy afterwards and he does some really good work loosening things up! I go to bed relaxed but fatgued from a long week
Day 151: I go wrestling in the morning and the knee feels pretty good in the morning. Wrestling goes well even though mainly doing single legs which always strains the knee. Couple of rounds of sparring and I pull some good moves but also get countered big time a few times. Big exhausting success in all. I do 15 mins stretching after incl. bum to heel and no problems.
Success in all but I do take anti-inflammatories in the adfternoon cause the knee has been a tiny bit puffy thepast week or so

Day 152: Woke up and the knee is as good as ever since the accident so i go riding in the morning. Good fun and minimal clicking when I stand up in the stir-ups. I take some more anti-inflammatories to try and get that residual swelling and rubbing away if possible. Nothing else to report

Day 153: Knee been quite good all day with minimal grinding / niggles. I went to the gym at night doing 30 mins of low - high rev cycling followed by some strengthening work and 30 mins stretching.
Stretching was fantastic - had very good flexibility and could fully load deep stertches!
