Had  great day training today. Did weights, plyometrics, skipping and an hour BJJ rolling.

Im happy with the skipping did 20 min straight and havent skipped since before my op. Everytime i did it then the knee would swell up badly from the impact. No problems at all with it.

Rolling today was insane was doing crazy stuff! So much confidence in my knee now. Just shows strict rehab pays off ;D

So whats been going on the past couple of days?

Day 155 and 156: Nothing to report cause been working like a donkey and had no time to exercise. The knee gets really stiff and sticky though when I dont exercise...

Day 157: 2 training sessions today to make up for lost time. Following a similar pattern iun both. Started with 40 mins cycling in the morning (mixture of low and high rev) then short round of pull-ups and hamstrings followed by 15 mins stretching. Feeling remarkably flexible for so early in the morning but avoiding deep stretches...

At night 20 mins of high rev cycling non-stop followed by 5 mins running at 13kph and then core, deep single leg squats and other leg work and some chest work followed by 20 mins stretching incl. deep stretches. Flexibility is really good - I can evne fully load deep stretches on the "bad knee" now  :)

Day 158: Went wrestling in the morning and that felt great - had a strong session taught by a really good freestyle - alll single legs but I noticed that when the guy secures my left leg and puts the pressure down I get meniscus pinch where I had the operation so asked the guy I was working with to only do it on the right leg. Then sparring which went well and some grappling - turns out the guy is the Ex British ADCC silver medalist and completely demolished me though I had guard on  him - everyone laughing at me and my submissions skill - went fo a beer afterwards though  ;D

Day 159: Went training in the morning and did 10 mins cycling followed by 15 mins running mix of 6-13kmph followed by mix of wrestling cable and dummy throws. Then 10 mins stretching, no deep stretches and not enough...

Day 160: Went to the gym early morning and did 40 mins cycling low and high rev followed by deep single leg squats, core and chest followed by 10 mins  of light stretching. Knee has been fine still a bit stiff but,,,,

When were you guys able to sit on your heels? I have full flexion right now but when i sit on my heels i have pain in the back of the knee (lateral side.)

I figured, I would be ready to drill some techniques when I am able to comfortably sit on my heels. Ive been going to the gym cycling and some light bodyweight exercises.

Halfgward - I took a very long time to sit on my heel again and the ache at the back is normal - have this from both physio AND OS AND I think Boyka said the same...

However, I have 3 limiting factors:

Pre-surgery the tear caused me to slip when doing this so I have lots of buoilt up apprehension and bad body mechanics

I have never been to comfortable in this position any way AND

I am cautious still to do it cause I have a bit of meniscus missing where it is most needed when doing this...

Day 161: Went to the gym in the morning doing 15 mins of high rev cycling, some core and the 10 mins stretching - short and sweet session. At night I went to Judo but only had a short session with no sparring so I went to the final half hour of the BJJJ session next door and did 2x 6-7 min rounds of sparring there.

Could not be bothered with stretching after which is always not such a great idea but will catch up on this today.

Overall, how is the knee then? I still get stiffness and grinding but a bit less so (it seems). Also the grinding and niggles are more and more around the outside.

Well, I went back to my bjj gym yesterday. Joined class and did technique for a couple of hours. I might have come back too soon!

The knee itself felt great. The only discomfort i feel is when Im sitting in guard. The problem is, it irritated the heck out of my incision sites!

I put bandaids on them and then covered them up with a knee sleeve, but it still got irritated. I think the dry scab that covered it is now gone. I am kinda worried i might have infected them. No redness or anything.... but it kinda looks more "wet" than before? Does that make sense?

How long did it take for you guys to have these incision sites covered completely??

Everything been going fine until tonight.... About 4 hours after training my knee swelled up badly and felt like a lot of fluid was around the kneecap...

Was Wrestling today and everything was fine not a problem at all...Only thing was i didnt have my kneepads on today and thinking back i was goin at it pretty hard with sparring getting caught up in fast scrambles. Think i irritated the knee again like from a few weeks ago i banged it against the mat again when i didnt have my knee pad on.

Im just back from A&E to get it checked. Told them about my op a few months ago. They said it aint related to the meniscus injury i had. Something to do with the bursa sacs which secrete fluid to protect the knee due to a heavy impact etc...

I got slighty worried from the swelling incase i tore the knee again but they did the tests and it seems fine. Just to give it rest and wear my knee pad during any grappling.

I kind of knew it wasnt a tear as there was no pop or pain at all today when i was training.

Think due to me not wearing the knee pad. The knee has been rubbing against the mats and maybe some scar tissue is still kicking around it. Should be all good in a couple of days.

Been having a mixed couple of days:

DAy 162 and 163: HAd to work like a donkey so could do no training and was feeling stiff throughout. Hard to assess your state though when you are not exercising... I recall from  Monday though that my residual puffyness of the knee had gone down to almost naught when I did the fluid test and overall seems a bit less niggly over the past couple of days.

Day 164: Went to the gym over lunch for a quick session of 20 mins cycling mainly low rev, then deep single leg squats x 20 which felt OK but not as good as at my best, then did jumping single legs of a bench and them was that poor... Probably a combination of not having done it in 3-4 weeks or so and the tuiredness from working all hours. Also some mild pain when connecting foot to floor...

Note to self: do more jumping proprio stuff again!

After that did hamstrings and core followed by 25 mins of stretching. First good stretching session in probaly a week. Did deep stertches fully loaded at the end and it was fine but some discomfort and not quite as good as when I did it a week ago..

Aiming to go BJJ tonight!  ;D

Managed to go BJJ last night - was fatigued from thr week and felt that throughout the body but had a great session! However may be pushed it a bit too hard when I had that purple belt kid in my half guard and he did that weird makeshift knee lock thing on me which wasnt a real knee lock but I felt pain and compression on the knee for however long he did it (30-45secs ?) Well was truely shattered after with a mild pinch in the meniscus..

Day 165: Slept in and felt great in the morning then went horse riding and even got to do a short gallop. Knees were a bit clicky and stiff all day with some grinding but no major issues... Need to do some serious stretching though!

Day 166: woke up feeling in need of some stretching. Went to the gym in the afternoon doing 25 mins mid to high rev range. Then did hamstrings deep single leg squats x 20 and core followed by 35 mins stretching. Stretching felt great though deep stretches were a bit painful at first actually in both knees but a definite pinch in the operated on meniscus wasd there. Been feeling great since though!  :D

Day 167: HAd a foul day working all day  >:(

DAy 168: Went to the gym early in the morning doing 30 mins of mid to high rev cycling some core and single leg squats followed by 20 mins stretching which was fine in all.

Day 169: Went training twice today ha! Did a session in the morning with 20 mins low rev cycling, 7 mins of walking to running followed by wreestling dummy x60 throws and wrestling cable. Just did 5 mins light stretching after.
Then went again at night and did 10 mins low rev cycling followed by chest core and single leg suats and deep squats then 35 mins stretching. Stretching felt really good and went well. Deep stretches were good even when fully loaded. Just a slight pinch at fully loaded  :)
Random observation I made last night and this morniung was that when I left work late at night I had a weird pinching sesation in the meniscus for about 20-30 mins despite no exercise all day - had the same this morning but gonne now!

Day 170: Probably overdid the leg workout yesterday not because of the knee but both calves are really tight and sore now to an extent that walking isnt fun. This also aint great for the knee cause the calves absorb a lot of shock when theyre not too sore to switch on...

Still went to BJJ at night (no Gi) which isnt my strong point but had a great tough session with 45 mins sparring pretty much none stop. Got subbed by that one guy like 5 times (all no Gi chokes) and generally got owned a bit so will need to up my game there! No probs with the knee!

Day 171: Still been having sore calves all of today really feel the shock when treading down. Feel underexercised though so I go to BJJ at night doing 1.5 hrs. Maybe not the greatest idea but sparring felt good despite my general fatigue. Felt a slight pinch in the meniscus afterwards but that should hopefully be normal overexertion...

Day 172: Felt very well rested after sleeping in and then went riding. Nice 1 mile gallop slight clicking in the knees, a bit stiff all day

Day 173: Did 45 mins low to mid rev cycling followed by core and 30 mins stretching. Still sore in the calves but a bit better and stiff overall. I did a tiny bit of deep stretching feeling a bit tight and crunchy through the knees... Generally good though!  :)

Day 174: Felt good all day a bit stiff in the back but nothing major. Went No Gi grappling at night in an MMA gym which was good fun and got home really tired. Need to stretch very thoroughly to morrow to recoupe ;)
