My knee's first birthday.
« on: March 01, 2011, 09:28:46 AM »
Wow all I can say is what a difference a year makes  :)

I am now off to walk my three dogs on Blackpool beach for a couple of hours I couldn't do that 18 months ago. I am back doing agility ( carefully ) even got a new puppy Duke. My new knee does get a little stiff now and again and still take a painkiller on the very odd occasion but wonderful. My right knee has improved a good bit but I can see it needing remplacing in a few years.

All the best wishes to you all

Julie

Brilliant news Julie!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D :) :) :)

Just curious; with your agility, do you have to run?  Can you do it?  Do you want to do it?  Or is it something you avoid?

Yes I do run. I asked both my Specialist and the physio about wether I could carry on do agility after my TKR and they both said yes. I do not over do it though I only go training once a week now and will only do maybe one show a month I have just booked my first weekend show in June. I am lucky both my older dogs will work away from me so I do not have to run too far around the course. What is going to happen when I start training Duke I don't know but will wait and see . I could always do flyball instead you dont have to run so much then lol .

Woohoooo!! That is such good news. It is so good to read of success stories. I remember your diary when you had the TKR. So far along now - and those dogs are lovely. Another TKR-er on here does Agility - BubbasMum I think is the name. She posted a video of her in action and like you her doc said it was fine to do, but be careful of cutting movements.

Well done and long may the progress continue. Does it feel like "your" knee now? My Aunt has a TKR and she said it took about 3 years for it to fel like "hers" and in the cold it still feels like a chilly alien! But she doesn't mind as her movement and pain are transformed now too.  ;D

Redwing, hope you are also doing well.

Just a quick update . Won my first agility class in 4 years last month with my border terrier Charlie I didn't think that would happen again. ;D

Everything is has been going fantastic until yesterday when a fell over straight onto my new knee ouch !. I have a couple of bruises its a little tender to the touch and a bit stiff to bend but hopefully no damage done. It doesn't hurt to walk on just a bit sore bending. Fingers crossed.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Take care

Julie  ;)

So good to hear your doing well. I am guessing you would say the pain and misery were well worth the outcome. And running WOW!!!!!!!!

Between the sucess of you and Bubbasmom, I am thinking of taking up agility training :D

Thanks for taking the time to post. Always good to hear of a good outcome from an oldie but goodie  :D
