Hi. I managed to fracture my tibial plateau earlier this month and the doctors have shown me the various imagery on their computers. That stuff is cool and I want to be able to view files at home. I can secure the native electronic files via CD, but I need to know what software is required to view the files. Has anyone already been down this road? I know it's possible as I've seen posts on other boards about free viewer software, but those posts don't mention the software and don't get into technical details. I'm reasonably proficient with computers but have no experience in this area. It appears that MRI images are rendered in DICOM, that is, .dci file format. It would be nice if I could rely on a single, free program to view MRI, CT Scan and Xray files.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
ND

My first post...

You don't specify what operating system you use.

For the Mac, there is a program called OsiriX (http://www.osirix-viewer.com). It is very good but necessarily also very complex. They have a Light version as well.

Hope that helps.

Best,
MM

here's a couple I found. Don't know if they work, but it's up to you to check them out and decide if you want to give them a try and see. I neither advocate their use or suggest them, merely located them on the internet and suggest that they might possibly be what you are looking for. Its up to you to pick up the research from here and decide what you're gonna do.

Disclaimer: check thoroughly for viruses any programs you decide to install.
