Hey Tez,

Hope you are feeling a bit better today.  Don't be afraid to ask for something a bit stronger if the pain is keeping you awake at night; after I had my knee done, the doctor stressed that so much healing takes place when we are sleeping.  You obviously don't want to be numb to your pain but I doubt there is much chance of that...even with an added dose of something.  The demerol I took for about 2 weeks after my replacement seemed to do the trick and kept my pain at about a 3 out of 10 scale.  Eventually, I was able to ween myself off of these and eventually stop all meds within 6 weeks I think.  Or maybe way less.  It's funny how time blocks out the pain of past knee operations.  I guess this is a good thing!  Anyway, just wanted to give you a shout out.

Lottie...That's awesome that you are getting certified!  WooHoo!!!  You will do awesome at it.  I just know.

Everyone else...hope you all are doing just fine.  Write when you have a chance.

Hugs, Robin xxx

Thanks Snowy RK4 and Robin

Snowy you could have something in the extra pain when the bone has been drilled previously as this will be the third time for me and I'm pretty sure the way Mr B was talking he was going to drill them out enough to get the graft in a better position, whatever it is it bloody hurts lol, I see Paul on fri and I think he will already have had a chat with Mr B about what to do with me, as for the time it took I know before I went into surgery he had said I was the only one on his list for the day so maybe he just took lots of time to get it perfect, now that would make me happy.

Thanks for the hug RK4 as for the advice I hope you take some of that very good advice on board for yourself ;) I am indeed doing what I should and sitting with the leg up for most of the day tbh its too painfull to do much else. and the fact D has the week off I dont have to do very much at all sending pain killing {{{hugs}}} right back at you.

Robin last night was the longest period of sleep I have had I think I have found the right sleeping position which helps so I didnt wake up and watch the clock go round till it was time to take more meds I actually waited till about 6am before taking them and that was from about 12 the night before so things are getting better also I feel if I am sitting on the sofa with the leg up the pain recedes to about a 2 with the odd stabbing pain  but as soon as I move it gets right back up to a 10 needles to say I aint moving around much, I have injections to give myself every day to stop blood clots so I assume thats because Mr B expected me to not be moving around much for the fist six week, go I cant wait to see the colour of my stomach after 6 weeks of shots cos every one leaves lovely bruise, maybe with my last aclr the pain was just as bad but like you said I have blocked it out of my mind ;D

My straight leg raises are coming along no problem but heel slides are a no no right now as the knee will not bend much at all but I am hoping when I get the staples out on Monday that might help, not sure if I said or not but I didnt have a GA for this op my anethstatis [sp] wanted me to try a spinal and sedation which I agreed to but I think I have felt better right after a GA than I did the spinal but could be cos it was a longer op who knows.

Well good night folks I hope the rest of you lovely geeks are doing ok
Take care

Tez- Happy to hear you are able to get some uninterrupted sleep.  It is so good to find that perfect position after surgery :)  Good luck with Paul & I hope it's not too painful.  Still it sounds as though it doesn't take much to set it off.  Hopefully that doesn't last too much longer.  Have been thinking of you, just feels like time gets away from me.  Perfect that D has the week of to help you out.  So nice when you don't have to get up every time you get thirsty -that & negotiating a drink with crutches :o  I got some more riding practice in tonight -was fun & maybe I'll take a short road trip this weekend.  Not ready for city yet, but maybe some smaller roads.

RK4- Hope your week is going alright.  I'd say TGIF tomorrow but I know on a farm there is no such thing as a day off.

Well I must be off to sleep as I have to be up earlier than normal for work in AM.  Have a great weekend everyone!  Cheers-A

Hey Folks,

Tez...that's wonderful that you were able to get a good night of sleep; I hope it has continued!  A 2 on a pain scale is a piece of cake; I don't blame you for not wanting to move too much if that brings it up to a 10. Ouch!  Kudos to you for being able to give yourself injections into the stomach.  I'd have a real problem with that I think but I'm sure it beats the alternative.  No aspirin a day for you, huh?!  Good job doing the SLR's!  I wonder, as a group, how many we've all done over the course of the past several years.   ;)  Just go easy and take your time with the heel slides; they will come along as well.  In the meantime, please know that I am thinking of you and sending good, healing vibes your way.  Big hugs to you.

A...Hey, congrats on all the riding you've been doing.  You will be superb at it!  How are you liking the beast so far?  I do believe that you'd bought quite a heavy bike.  Vrooom, Vroom.  Have fun with it!

Rk...Hello and hope that you had a good weekend with the family, cats, dogs, cows, etc.  How's the weather up your way?

A shout out to everyone else!  Hope that you are all well and behaving yourselves.

Hugs, Robin xx

Hey Gang,
Just up with the torture twins again.  Spent a big chunk of Sunday pacing hospital er with hubby.  He had a ladder fall and smack him on the head Sat night but couldn't get him to go to hospital,  But by morning he was dizzy, weak, nausious and fuzzy vision so the girls and I took him.. Fortunately they CT scanned him and no bleed just a real good concussion so Dr glued his lac and said to rest until symptoms are gone. He said he could get a little worse before he gets better and he has but hopefully will feel better when he gets up in the later a.m.  Just woke him and will now let him sleep the rest of the night.  Not quite how I wanted to spend his only day off in 3 weeks but not much choice.  So now I haven't slept in 2 nights and have the torture twins to also remind me of my day on my feet. Did you know pain meds and lack of sleep can make you really wonkey!!! 8) :o

Well now how about Tez, how is our Tez making out ??? Hope the pain is strating to ease a little and you can now move with less than a 10 pain level. :-* :)

Hey Robin just the same old same old here, but weather is very warm in the 80's so can't complain other than a weather front is coming in later today and the twins know it.. ::)

Hey Brams how goes the CRPS battle.

A.. I do need that saw this early am. You borrowed it and didn't give it back.. You have to share it you  know!!!! ;)

Tez I half thought you would be on killing time until painmeds kicked in..

Well congrats Lottie on the certification.. Go girl!!!!

Hey to those on the west coast!!!!! Snowy, W!!! Hope the shoulder is coming along nicely.

Well better go crash now the the knees have settled a little with ice and meds...

Take care all.

Hey folks just a wee quickie before I start getting ready for the day I am having the staples out at 1pm so really cant wait though I must say they have been much more comfortable than the stitches I have had in in the past they haven't really tightened up the way stitches have and they done itch as much either, saying that I am still pleased to be getting them out today ;D
as for the knee it has really settled down over the last couple of days I think my problem is going to be staying on the 2 crutches and partial weight baring Mr B want for the next 5 weeks if the knees going to feel a bit better every day the way its doing now but I did promise I would do exactly what I have been told and so I shall, the one thing I will be asking untill I get the right answer is when I can drive Paul is sticking with 6 weeks even though I have an automatic and its my left leg, but I will work on him untill he changes his mind lol, being stuck in all that time is likely to kill me lol.
I did have a good visit with Paul he managed to get my knee very nearly straight when it was about 20% less than it should be when I arrived he also got me walking better on the crutches and has given me a wee simple program to follow untill next week when will can crank it up a bit but he knows Mr b wants to take things pretty easy to start with , this will  not the the excelerated rehab I had the last time, I think the important thing atm is to get the knee to bend I dont know what degree or anything it is but I do know it aint too good, so I shall keep working on that so that and some strengthening is the way to go for this week anyway.

RK4 I hope your husband is ok at least it could have been so much worse could have broken a leg or anything and then what would have happened with the farm ect??? I hope your sleeping soundly now and you both feel better in the morning.

Robin good to hear from you I hope your doing ok and that massage busines is going well but not too much its taking up all of your cycling time lol as if you would allow that ;)
The injections are a doddle once I did the first one it was easy I even have a small sharps box home from the hospital with me that Dougie has to take up and exchange for a new one when it get full lol
Anyway (((hugs)))) your way from the cold rainey place I call home lol

A great to hear your getting out on the new bike despite the knee problem good for you!!! I am impressed, so did you go on the mini road trip this weekend?  and if you did how did it feel?

Lottie and Snowy and Brams and Rat and Wendy and anyone else who pops on here sending (((hugs))) to you all  ;) :P ::)
Take care Tez

Tez- You sound like your are progressing well!!!! ;D  Happy to hear it is feeling better every day & that by now the staples are out.  I do like them better than stitches also.  It will be hard to stay on 2 crutches if you are feeling better but so worth a good outcome to follow orders ;)  Driving will encourage you to loose a crutch, but I get the cabin fever issues.  Paul sounds like a good therapist-he'll have you straighten out & bending in no time I'm sure.  You made no mention of pain so I assume it has gotten better -hope so as none of us need it.

RK4- ouchy for your hubby.  I hope he is feeling better & so happy you got him to ER.  Crappy way to spend day off for sure.  I swear I gave you back the saw....I need my lower leg to ride the motorcycle ;)

Robin -my bike weighs 560 lb (255kg).  Not heavy as bikes go really.  I took in out Saturday -we went for ice cream which is 6 miles from home.  Went well.  I didn't get up to speed limit, but was close. I also wore my mesh jacket & should have had my leather on due to temperature.  Amazing how much windier it is when J not sitting in front of me.  Hopefully this coming weekend will be nice & I'll get some more time on it.  I can't say that it is fun yet as I'm still a bit nervous, but I'll get there.  It's the one thing I've done in years that the knee pain doesn't break through into my thoughts yet.  That alone makes it wonderful.

Hey to everyone else -hope you are all amazing.  Cheers-A

Hey Gals,

Tez...Hope this note finds you continuing to progress. You sound really good and I'm happy that you are starting to feel less pain and discomfort.  Hope that the staple removal was no big deal; I know I was sooo happy to have my stitches removed.  LOL, you know you are feeling better when you start getting itchy to get out and drive; that's wonderful.  I followed everything to the letter after my knee surgery and it sounds like you are planning to as well.  That's a good girl.  I do hope that Paul allows you to drive before the 6 weeks are over.  So, Yay Tez!   :) :) :) :) :)  I hope this is the beginning of the end for you in the knee surgery department.  Onward and upward.  Hugs and good wishes to you.  xxx

Rk...Ouch.  Sorry to hear about the hubby.  Hope he's feeling better but happy that it wasn't worse.  Phew.  That's scary.

A...Your trip to Boston is just around the corner now, huh?  You must be happy about that.  Glad that you are out on the bike  and learning slowly.  Six miles is awesome.  Enjoy the process and the fact that you can forget about your knee pains when out there.  It sounds heavy to me but what do I know?!  I've never owned a motorbike. There are so many more women riding these days that sometimes I think I'd like to give it a shot but then M. tries to slap some sense into me.

Everyone else...hope you are enjoying things and that spring is arriving to all areas and making you all a bit happier.  There is nothing like the springtime.

Take good care and hope to hear from others soon.

Just dropping by to wish everyone a great weekend!

Tez- Hope you are doing better everyday.  As Robin said onward & upward!!!

RK4- Hope you & hubby are both doing ok.  No ER trips this weekend please :o  Have you got the saw yet?  I have plenty of beer to share ;)

Robin -Happy Memorial Day Weekend.  Hope yours has plenty of time for R&R mixed with friends & fun.  Boston less than 2 weeks away.  Excited & also a bit scared that he will think nothing is really wrong.  We'll know soon!

We took bikes into town 2 nights ago -28 miles round trip, a little "city" driving and we had to outrun a thunderstorm.  I did well -safely ran stop signs on way home (plenty of visibility) & got up to 63mph.  Woohooo!!!!!  We made it home 10 minutes before the downpour & thank goodness as it was kinda scary being on bike & seeing lightening & black storm clouds.  Last time I trust local weather people -they said storms were 100 miles west & north of us & we would have clear night-HA!  I got my first good spattering of bugs & was so happy to have full face helmet & jacket on-so very different than being a passenger & so much more exciting!!!!!  I'm soooo happy J pushed me to do this -he does know me better than I know myself sometimes ;D  Cheers all-A
