Good evening folks and a big happy birthday to RK4 I spotted on W's msg that you were a birthday girl today, I hope you have a wonderful pain free day ;D

Lottie we do use some of the Moroccan oil in the salon but I would only use it on hair that was naturally course or curly, but never on fine hair  it can make it limp and lank if your looking for something to treat dry or damaged hair you cant get much better than a Schwartzkopf product called ..sealed ends, its the one product I cant do without in the salon.
I hope reggie starts to behave so that your trip to Norfok is not too uncomfortable.

Brams boo to the knee pain especially when it stops you rowing cos I know how much you love it, dont worry about having a good old moan on here,  one of the things I love about this site  is that others can understand exactly how it feels to have knee pain, and they can offer a shoulder to cry on when things get really bad.

Robin  how goes things with you?? how are the shoulders behaving these days?

W Hi ;)
Good news on the up coming MRI, I really hope it will help give you a better idea of what's going on with the knee, I cant imagine how frustrated you must be feeling after all this time off work and not being able to do all the things you want to, I can understand why you want to be aggressive on the bike, its one thing that you still have control over, just please for me try not to be too aggressive and end up in more pain.
I would also love to see you with big hair any chance of a wee pic????

Nick good luck with everything you have planned for your future, it sounds like you have a good plan to get your life sorted out, I hope it all works out for you.

Snowy How are you and J feeling now? it is a terrible thing to lose a beloved pet, just remember how happy you both made her throughout her life, and she had a long life full of joy.

as for me not much to report, still no word of the op which is really starting to annoy me, I would have thought if it was going to be in June I would have heard something by now, oh well patience is a virtue or so they say, the knee is also annoying me more and more these days, it is painful with every wrong step or move though it hasn't given out on me for a
while, though I can feel things move unnaturally.... if you know what I mean, it just feels odd most of the time.
apart form that we had a quiet weekend, dinner out last night to celebrate my baby boys 20th  birthday, now that I find it hard to believe it was only yesterday he WAS my baby boy now he's a fully grown man of 6ft5, but as I tell him often he will always be my boy no matter how old he gets.

I hope everyone is ok tonight and anyone I missed sorry I is an old lady and the senior moment are coming thick and fast lol

Take care all Tez

hahaha....Tez..you will never see a pic of me with my hair in that state.  I still blame it on the BC humidity!  Snowy saw it!  I recall her saying it was just getting bigger and bigger..lol!

I really hope you get a date for your surgery soon!  I HATE the waiting game!  Maybe it is time for you to make a call again.  I recall that doing that has worked out in your favour a few times now!

Well looks like the Gang has all crashed for the night just me left unless Snowy is out there slinking around and haven't noticed her yet.
Tez I would love to say i had a nice pain free day but it just didn't happen.
I happened to trip over my zoo in the house on the weekend and landed smack dab on my knees if it weren't for the walls it could have been far wose but I fell hard enough to make 2 already sore knee quite a bit more sore. Nothing broken just bruised and a black and blue pride.
Tonight they are exceptionally cranky not sure why but just have to go with the flow..
Hope everyone is well and all the parts have all settled for the night.  No use us all being up just me is enough.
Take care all.

Gettin' lonely again!

MRI done!!  Had a good knee day!  Did 12 miles on the bike in 28 minutes with some resistance!  PT is not pleased with me, but if I am still good tomorrow, he will see that I am OK!  I seem to be improving A LOT since I have been cracking at the bike!  I still have the pain on weight bearing, but my leg feels SO MUCH stronger.  Long way to go, but I am enjoying my few endorphins.

I was just talking to a friend of mine who I speak with quite regularly.  He told me tonight that I am starting to sound like myself again.  I think it was the comment about doing the bike anyway.  Whatever is done is done!  I'm telling ya!  A little bit of exercise is the best feel good drug around!

W,

good work on the speedy MRI - how long til the results? And excellent work on the biking! I think the whole psych/mental effect of some exercise and feeling that you're doing something cannot be underestimated in rehab! I cannot see that you are doing any harm at this stage doing such light resistance - surely getting the muscles firing and the leg moving can only be doing good. It isn't as if it is aggravating the anterior knee pain is it? I hope there are no ill effects this morning!

This is a quick post (again!). I have reports to write but I am beyond tired this morning....it is R's birthday but he is on a training course some miles away so we were up early to pack him off and he will have presents later plus we are going to our fave steak place for dinner....my trip to Norfolk was lengthy and peppered with catching up with my reflexology mate and her relationship soap opera. I actually think some people thrive on emotional stress!! Tez/W I have the Moroccan oil Light variant which is supposed to be better for fine hair and I think I realised I had not put my other styling gunk on hence the fly away tendency. It was better yesterday, but Tez that product you mentioned was recommended by the guy who did my colour so i might invest too. Boo on not hearing about your surgery, the wheels are grinding slowly up in Scotland.....frustrating when you need to plan your life as well!!!

Brams I hope the knees have settled down. We have both had a rough ole CRPS week from the sound of it. Not great. How is the brace feeling? Rk4 sorry you too have had disturbed nights...how is the kitten doing?! I bet he is growing super fast! Robin, great to hear from you and your busy massage activity! Excellent news! I am so pleased the knee is behaving well. How is the PT course going?

Well, I have work to attack....but my duvet is calling me loud and clear but I shall resist.....

Hugs to all bodily parts....xxxxx

Good Luck Tez!!  I hope you get an answer, and that the answer is June!!!

Lottie...Happy Birthday to R!!  Man, there are a lot of Taurus folk around here!  The anterior knee pain has been gone for awhile, Lottie.  It was the medial pain that started in March, and decided to stick around.  My knee is not really happy with me this morning.  There is a bit more pain, and a lot of clicking going on, but I just got up.  I am hoping that once I get moving here today, it will abate.  I have PT at 0930h, and I figure I am going to get yelled at!!

There is more to me doing the stationary bike than the rehab aspect of all of this.  I have to drop 13 lbs quickly!!  I need to get into my summer shorts and capris.  I am NOT buying any more summer clothes.  I bought all of this stuff last August!  Six months of f*** all exercise and stretchy pants is not a good way to fit into your clothes.  On a good note, my friend has put on at least 15 lbs over the winter, and she didn't have anything done to her knee.  So, I guess I still made out better than her.  My weight gain is from no exercise, and too big serving sizes of good food.  She eats a lot of junk food!  Snowy, you actually know who I am talking about!

Well gang...here's to the knee fairy working in Tez's favour today.  Tez, let us know what you find out!!

Hey Kids,

Ah.  I finally have some time to post.  Sorry about being incommunicado over the past several days.

W…Sorry to hear that your knee is giving you some grief this morning.  I hope it gets better as the day progresses.  I totally agree with Lottie that the exercise is good for the head and body but don’t overdo it.  (This is the not too soon to be personal trainer speaking!;)  A hurting body likes to be eased into exercise.  This doesn’t mean that you should stop but maybe your knee would be happier if you work up to 45-60 minutes most days.  You are doing the right thing by riding with little to no resistance!  Just be sure that you warm up 8-10 minutes and warm down.  I know that you want to burn calories and lose weight and you will!  You just don’t want to hurt your knee in trying to do so, you know?  *Robin now steps down off her soapbox.)  Good going on pulling the strings that enabled you to get your MRI done quickly.  It does pay to know people.  When I was in the recovery room after my knee surgery, I bumped into one of the nurses on the floor who I’d gone to massage school with.  After I told her how long I’d waited to get an appointment with the knee doctor, she said ‘I wish I’d known; I could have gotten you in here in less than a month.’  Ah, well.  Good for future reference I suppose although I seriously hope that I don’t need him again.

Lottie…Happy Birthday to your handsome hubby R.!  I’m so sorry to hear that you (and Brams) are having such a time with the stupid CRPS.  I’m curious as to whether either of you know whether there are any promising new drugs in the pipeline for this awful condition.  Lottie, how is Boris doing?  I hope the poor guy’s skin has improved.

Brams…Hey you.  Hope that today finds you doing better than yesterday.  I don’t blame you a bit for being disappointed in not being able to (temporarily) do the rowing.  It sounds like you loved it so very much.  I do think you have made a wise decision in foregoing the row;  don’t rouse the angry knee gods.  I think any chronic condition takes years to get used to.  This CRPS is new to both you and Lottie and it’s something to get angry about.  You both sound like you were very physically active before and you are both waaayyy  too young  to be dealing with it.  It sucks.  My sister  has M.S. and she has described it as having to be constantly accommodating when dealing with something chronic.  I hate bleeping chronic disease. Hate it.  One can only hope that for each of you, the CRPS will go into remission for a long time (or forever!)  It can and does happen, correct?

Tez…You hippy.  Hope you and D. enjoyed your stay in Amsterdam.  Saw your pics on FB and you appeared to be feeling no pain in some of them.  Good for you guys and what a great experience.  Well, I hope that by the time you read this, you will have spoken with the doctor and gotten a date for your surgery!  It does pay to make those follow up calls!

Rk…Hope you had a wonderful birthday.  Did you do anything glamourous?  I can’t remember if you’ve finished with school or not. Hope so.

Nick…Good luck with everything you are working on.  You are doing awesome and have not given up on your dreams.  What a wonderful trait to have.

Snowy…Hugs and more hugs.

Well, M. and I survived Baker’s major tooth extraction yesterday.  Apparently, he was born with bad teeth and they’d gotten so horrible over the course of the past year that his gums had ulcerated.  We brought him in yesterday and the vet took 7 or 8 teeth from the poor guy’s mouth.  He seems to be doing fine. He’s much steadier on his feet today and eating soft food.   He’s just had a dose of pain medication and has taken refuge under the couch.  Argggg.  I hate to see him so afraid.  It just kills me.  My knee is doing fine.  It’s still a bit weak but I’m working on it.  My shoulders are another story.  The spray that the orthopedic doctor gave me didn’t seem to do much good at all.  Ah, well.  No rock climbing for this gal for a while.  At least I can walk and for that, I will be forever grateful.

Have a good day everyone and big hugs to the lot of you.

Robin

Hi folks I didn't get a chance to phone the hospital until after 4 today cos I was busy in work and by that time Mr B's secretary must have finished for the day cos her office phone just kept ringing out, so I will try again tomorrow, though I am wondering if she is the best person to call about this as it looks like it will be another surgeon doing my op, does anyone have any idea who I could get this information from?

If you knew what hospital you are getting it done at, you could call the OR bookings office.  You will need to know who is doing your surgery.  If they can't help you, maybe they can tell you who can!

Good Luck tomorrow Tez.  There is nothing wrong with checking up on things.  As you well know, sometimes you can get lost in the shuffle!
