OMG, you guys have to start my chocolate craving.... I can't find any Neuhaus here... but they have Leonidas about 20mins walk from here. Have you tried Royce from Japan? Hmm.... Ok, can't help it with the food thing. If only huge consumption of chocolate will give rise to lots of happiness and calm the nagging ankle.

Hi All,

Hope everyone is having a good start to the weekend and what a contrast in the weather from 23oc to 8oc this morning with drizzle in the air and wanted to have a picnic this afternoon with my new AS lady friend this afternoon and will have to go to a bar/café instead. The British weather can change from one day to the next and can never predict the weather in advance. I am not working this weekend so can forget all about work and had a night in last night and did not drink a drop of alcohol and caught up on some sleep as I going to the cricket club tonight for a player’s 30th Birthday Party. I am a lightweight drinker compared to others who will have 16 plus pints a night so 4 to 8 pints twice a week is nothing to be concerned about as long as you are not drinking everyday excessive amounts. I could smoke and take drugs that are a lot worse then having a few pints of lager a week. I felt fine drinking when taking 2.5mg olazapine even though it says to avoid it and the new anti depressants I am taking is 20mg citalopram and can still drink if you wish to. Now just searching about citalopram online might stop taking them as it says it can ruin your sex life and if I get into a relationship again do not want to be restricted by taking these anti depressants.

Below a paragraph about what side effects citalopram can have so might see my regular GP about it. Only taken 2 tablets so far and need more of a anti anxiety pill rather then anti depressants with fewer side effects.

Sexual dysfunction is often a side effect with SSRIs. Specifically, common side effects include difficulty becoming aroused, lack of interest in sex, and anorgasmia (trouble achieving orgasm). Genital anesthesia,[15] loss of or decreased response to sexual stimuli, and ejaculatory anhedonia are also possible. Although usually reversible, these sexual side effects can last for months or years after the drug has been completely withdrawn.[16] This is known as Post SSRI Sexual Dysfunction.

W, you cannot beat good old traditional English food and my favourite roast is roast potatoes with British lamb with parsnips and gravy with mint sauce in top of the meat. I once looked into orthotics and would have cost me £375 and cannot afford it and the NHS does not provide good quality orthotics.

Robin, hope you can get your shoulder problem sorted out soon and get to see someone soon and sounds like you need and deserve those massages. Congratulations on your flexion!

Tez, I always wanted to work with Asperger syndrome adults and would be a rewarding and challenging job and think I could cope well with it and do the job well as I understand what they are going through being on the autistic spectrum myself. I know I might have to restrain aggressive patients and I am very strong from my manual labour on the golf course. Are you finally going to buy a car this weekend and looking forward seeing it on FB and glad you will be buying an automatic. Sorry you having problems sleeping again and at least you had a period where you could sleep ok. Sorry that your father in law cannot have his hip replacement!

Snowy, thanks for clearing what HR stands for and not upset with you or anyone on KG as everyone lives their own lives and can only give some advice as too much can be overwhelming and confusing.  I am feeling a lot better now and was just stressed out and moody last week and apologize for my behavior. I still think I do not drink too much compared to others at the cricket club.

Brams, glad your ROM is improving and can  row and the chocolate fudge cake look’s divine. Good luck
with your orthotics appointment next week and is very expensive going private.

Lottie, less panic now at the petrol stations and now gone cold again and was looking forward to a nice sunny weekend. I know I might drink too much but I do not drink too much compared to others and feel ok the next day with no hang over.

A, post when you feeling up to it and hope you can enjoy the weekend.

Rk4, hopefully when you have your next OS appointment he can do something to help you get back to normal again.

Super, hope your ankle calms down soon and maybe need to see an OS if it continues to be a problem.

Hi to everyone else and hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Funny story for the day!

My mother just called!  She had been up to see her 96 year old father.  He wanted her to go buy him some cologne because his aftershave wasn't cutting it!  I asked mom what she meant by "not cutting it".  I thought it might be a personal hygiene issue...nope!  A new old lady has moved into the home, and he wants the cologne to see if he can get a date...hahahahaha!!!!

Oh my!  Casanova at his age..wicked!

Awesome!! When my Mum started "dating" Fit Fred she suddenly got image conscious again! She has her hair coloured to hide the grey, I took her to Boots for some new face cream, lipstick and blusher and she bought new plush John Lewis bed linen and a decent dressing gown!!!  :o

Good job she isn't near your Gramps. They'd be making mischief!

Lottie, W you guys kill me. Hey Reggie how is the world treating you?
Well it appears that I remain on the knee pain merri-go-round for a while yet.  OS wants an MRI now. Which will probably take months before I get it.  Not sure if he is just stalling in hopes I will go away or if he is working up a plan in that brain of his.  What ever the case it will be a while before anything happens. He also won't prescribe anything stronger as he says it is GP's job.  Unfortunately my GP is a pain med scrooge if he is worried about dependency issues I crossed that bridge over a year ago. You can't expect to take stuff for 3 years and not have somekind of issue whether severe or mild.
Well that's my story and I am sticking to it. 8)
A. hope you are OK take care!!!
Robin hope knee behaves and shoulder contiues to come back to function.
Snowy looks like you are going to have to keep having fun for me as I am still hobbling. Some nice scenic pics would be a real lift. :)
Brams while you are posting a piece of that cake for W just send mine a few more provinces west. ;)
Tez you were up very early or up late? Hope you at least got a little sleep ::).
Well Gang take care all.

Hi Rk4!

Glad you've seen the OS at last, and at least if he's taking an MRI it means he's interested and wants to check everything out.... I'll cross my fingers that you get a quick appointment! Regarding the pain meds, I think he's chickening out a bit, my OS doesn't prescribe stuff, but he'll put a comment in his letter to the doc regarding meds - not about a specific one, but generally. Did you say to him that your doc is twitchy about it and your pain levels are so high? If so, might be worth a call to your OS to ask him to just drop a line to your GP about it. Or try a different GP!

Glad to hear you sounding a bit livelier anyway, hope today is a good day.

Rk, I am also glad you've at least got a scan organised....but I understand you must just feel on the merry go round yet again....crossing fingers it happens soon and might actually kick them into some form of action....

Just popped in to wish Bram aka Mrs Pinsent the best of luck for her first proper rowing session! Have fun!! Wear gloves, it is freezing out!

Hugs all! Lucas is eating his 3rd rabbit in 24 hours and I have the remnants of the overnight one from the utility toilet to clear up....whilst he chews brekkie to bits on the driveway....

You're clearly not feeding poor Lucas enough, Miss Lottie!!  ;D

Yes, just popped back to say that I have my first proper rowing session at midday today....boats an' everything!! Am quite stupidly nervous about it - what if I fall in? Make a complete idiot of myself? Hurt my knee in some stupid way? Can't get out of the boat and have to be hoisted out by the fire brigade with the local press photographing my embarrassed bulk as it swings in the breeze?..... :o

Crips kicked off a bit last night, but sorted itself out before bed, so could have been a lot worse  ::) Knees have been quite clunky and ouchy last couple of days, so am hoping it wasn't rowing machine related - don't see how it can be given I was only on the thing for about ten minutes, and only about four of those were me doing a full rowing action! Anyway, I am going to give it a go, and if the knees really kick off then I have at least tried...

Was trying to explain to the husband yesterday why I am so nervous about it (the previous me would have just gone for it!). It's not just about my knees, it's the loss of confidence generally from spending almost a year on the sidelines of life. Everything seems a much bigger deal now - my new tutoring venture (would have been a big deal anyway, but not this big!), the rowing club thing, driving solo (went to meet my husband at the garage where car being checked, hadn't been there for nearly two years, got lost  ???, tried calling husband - he'd left his phone at home grr..., panicked a bit but found it eventually, he joked with garage man about my lateness, I snipped and walked off!).  I can see how people can end up almost preferring their isolation to going out and taking life on.... Got to be done though, lol  ;D

Anyway, wish me luck gang. And tell Len and Rhod to behave and stay out of trouble.

Have a good day everyone  ;D

Beat of luck with the rowing today Brams. I would advise you to invest in a pair of cycling gloves with the padding!  Your hands will get calloused right where your hands meet your fingers.  I had horrible blisters when I first started!  I just bought a cheap pair, but they were a life saver!  Have a ton of fun!

Rk4..you know that I think that this is the beginning(hopefully) to the resolution of your problems!  It all starts with the MRI!  I am at a loss to what else to tell you regarding the pain meds!  Have you ever thought about trying tramacet?  I find that it works better than T3's, and your GP might be a bit more receptive to trying those!  They are not a controlled substance...YET!  That is going to change in the near future, but they really, really work!

Well, I just got up and I think I want to make some pancakes, but I don't have enough syrup!  Daddy....can you bring me some??  Dad is coming for breakfast!

ROWING WAS AWESOME!!!!!  ;D[/b]

Had a fantastic time. Lovely sunshine, light breeze, nice people. Couldn't have been better really.  8)

Started off on the ergs, did a good twenty minutes on technique, breaking down the stroke components etc. then went out in single beginner boats (can't remember their name!). Getting in, i sat down on the edge (not glamorous, needed an arm lol), then lowered myself in - pretty easy! Those boats were a nightmare to start with, every time I lifted the oars to try a stroke, I listed over to my right. Took me ages to work out that I could control a lot of the balance using my bum and thighs! Talking to one of the instructors, we decided that because all the leg (and bum) muscles on my left side are weaker, I'm lopsided and have less control. It's actually really helpful to know that, and I could concentrate on working that side harder to level myself. Once I'd found my balance it was great fun....

After about 45 mins, we came in and I had the fun of getting out! I levered myself out to sit on the side, then a kind chap gave me an arm up. It hurt to lever up to standing, but was ok. Then we went out in a coxed quad (4 people with 2 oars and a cox). I was sat at no.2 in front of bow (my husband!). The big boat was ace. The cox was brilliant, very instructive and calm, and the power from the boat moving through the water when three of us rowed at once was really thrilling. I loved it. We were out for an hour, all sorts of different combinations of pairs and threes. I think I might be hooked. Getting out was more difficult because of the riggers (hold the oars, stick out at the sides). Several people appeared as we drew up to the jetty, obviously prepared to help the ropey kneed one lol, some old chap tried to pull me up by my arm!! Luckily someone stopped him. I got out in the end, without falling in or swearing, a major achievement!

So yes, it went very well thanks  ;D and I am looking forward to the next session in two weeks time after Easter. Right now, Len and Rhod are quite warm and prickly, but otherwise ok. Later tonight and tomorrow will be the tester....

I am so happy  ;D :D it was lovely being out doing a sport with other people, tackling the technical challenges, speeding along in the sunshine....

Take care all and enjoy the day. Less me, more you next time....
