Rk4 - you are so right!!!

"Not enough knee to do it all" about sums up my days... ;) The knee is doing pretty well considering, gaining strength in that quad a tiny weeny bit at an agonisingly slow snails pace, lol - but I have to think of every day in terms of 'knee-time'!! If I stay in credit ;D then I'm ok, but if I try to do too much then I will suffer the next day and maybe the one after, and have to get myself back in kilter. And CRPS is best kept in its box. Don't want to anger the beast!

Turns out the course people were right about 'pacing' ::)

Mind you, my knee time is slowly increasing and I'm having less really bad days at the moment. Not my foot time though ???, I spent and hour and a half walking about (and sitting!) wearing trainers - then had to remove them to put red hot swollen toes up on dashboard on the way home!!!!! Not looking forward to the winter.... Would prefer the pain and burning to bugger off, but i suspect it doesnt work that way! I think im coping with that better though. I won't be booking that trip to climb Everest just yet, lol, but just being able to do Christmas Day properly with all the cooking etc would be fantastic. It's my goal for now.....

Hugs to all and a gentle pat of those poorly knees. Take care of yourselves out there!

Hi folks
RK4 your right it was indeed another stupid o'clock night from me last night, I had physio yesterday and I stood for an hour to iron and I'm not sure which of these activities pissed off my knee but one of them certainly did, tbh I think its more likely to be the ironing cos Paul is still keeping things pretty easy on the pt front, anyway he is pleased with my progress, my extension and flex is back to what it was pre op and most of the swelling has gone, just a bit round the incisions especially the large one.
I asked him about the brace and he thinks it could be a good idea but doesn't want me to get too used to wearing one so maybe just for work, but thinks I would be better asking Mr B about it and getting one on the NHS it's going to save me some cash so I will see what he says when I see him on the 13th.
Now for the good news I have booked a weeks break in Spain, we fly out on the 5th Sept and back on the 12th just in time for my appointment on the 13th, and the plan is to go back to work on the 14th as long as Mr B has no objection, really looking forward to getting some sun and spending some time with good friends.

W August the 27th will be here before you know it so I'm not surprised you dont have time to post much on here. I am so pleased for you though its like another part of your life is about to open up and I'm sure it will be a great success.

RK4 sorry your knees are still causing you problems, I am surprised  your OS is not even thinking about some kind of replacement when the knees are impacting so much in your day to day life, I thought we had problems with the NHS but at least the fact that my husband has such a lot of damage to his hip they are prepared to give him a replacement now instead of keeping him in pain for another 10 years, it makes more sense for someone to have working body parts while they are more active and can participate in all aspects of life rather than waiting till someone is older and not as active, well that's my opinion anyway ;)

Brams I'm pleased to hear the knee is doing well, slowly but surely seems to be the way to go with these things, I just wish the poor toes would improve to the extent that you can stop thinking about them, and you can show the horrible crips whos boss ;D

Robin I hope you are having a wonderful time at Martha's Vineyard, Its one of these places you see and hear about in films and tv shows and always looks amazing, I wouldn't mind a wee trip there at some point :) so tell us all about it when you get back ...please!!

Lottie how are you, R, reggie and the mogs doing these days?  I hope all is well now with the poorley kitty, and the rest haven't been bringing you much in the way of wildlife as a gift recently.

Nick I am looking forward to hearing you have the new house sorted out I know you were just waiting to hear from your lender so I will keep my fingers crossed that everything gets sorted out soon.

Snowy I hope your feeling better now, though  I did see what looks like mountain climbing equipment on a photo on FB which makes me think your back to your danger Kay ways, just be careful with whatever your planing on doing with all that stuff.

Anyone else I have missed I hope all is well
Take care Tez xx

Hey Brams,
You will get there and you will figure out how to keep that nasty CRPS in that box. Unfortunately it is one of those learn as you go thing. Which makes things interesting if not difficult.

Tez after I get my quad back and my disappointment back on the shelf I will go another round with the knee and see what one of the new knee guys thinks..
I just don't have the strength to fight everything at once.
So glad to hear you will be going on a vacation. I hope hubby does get some relief from his hip pain. But it is also a big surgery.

Well time for bed haven't slept yet and the sun is up already.
Take care all.

Hello everyone.  Just checking in, has been busy couple of weeks at work and more to come as everyone is taking 2 weeks worth of vacation at a time so we haven't & won't be fully staffed for a few more weeks.  I have to save time in case need surgery again :-\, but I do hope to get few days this fall for a mini vacation (zip-lining!).  Not much new, J rammed his knee into the tenderest spot of mine while rolling over in bed the other night !%&$%##  Of course he was sound asleep when it happened, but I couldn't help but be mad as it hurt so bad.  Over that now, but I can't seem to catch a break lately with such things.  Probably late next week at earliest I will hear back on allergy testing -lab has had blood for a week now & it takes 10-14 days for the testing.  J & I are going to dinner tonight and weekend looks very nice so we will go to cabin & get a motorcycle ride in, so that will help me clear my mind ;D.

Tez- glad you are doing better and hope the knee has calmed back down after ironing & PT.  The trip to Spain sounds amazing.  Sorry to hear D has to have a hip replacement, but happy he doesn't have to jump through hoops to have it done.  By this time next year you'll be the bionic couple!  Until then, make the most of the convertible, the bike will wait.  I would give yourself another day to two after Spain before heading back to work, but that's just my opinion.

Brams- Here's to keeping the CRPS in a box!  Hope all is well and the weather is as you like.  We spend too much on football on this side of the pond too, just not the same sport.  J doesn't watch & one of the reasons I choose him.

Lottie -You must be staying busy.  I am starting new workout program next week -12 weeks long and have spent the last 3 weeks doing specific exercises to figure out my maximum weight for each exercise.  Each cycle of the program I use a percentage of that weight.  I just have to not do most of the lower body as most of the exercises would aggravate the knee way too much.

W- Wow the 27th?  Hope all is going as smoothly as possible and the knee is holding up.

Robin -Hope the weekend at Martha's Vineyard is spectacular.  I'm sure you'll fill us in.

RK4 -I hear you, some days there just isn't enough knee & I'm only down 1.  Sending you((((( hugs)))))) and hoping sometime soon some Dr gets what you're going through & gives you new knees.

Time to get ready to go out -Cheers A

Hi gang!

Just dropping in to say "HI"!  I am in crazy reno and packing mode!  There are boxes all over my house, and I even packed everything besides a few pots and pans.  I had to back chicken in bread pans last night..lol!  Ah well, it worked!  I have to ship as much as I can because once the movers are gone, what ever is left has to fit in my car.  OMG..this is getting so real.  AGH!  Too much stress!

Good news is that the knee is handling it!  It does revolt once in awhile, but so far so good!  I went on a 6k hike on Thursday!  I had sore muscles...YAY!  I did really well, and my speed is picking up a bit!  I am still slow, but getting faster.  I can walk at a whopping 2.7miles an hour.  I have 1.3 mph to go before I am up to my walking speed!  That is the best I have been in a very long time!!

I really, really need to respond to everyone, but I don't ever seem to have the time for a really long post!  I have read everyone's goings on, but I will get to it soon!  Just so you all know that I am not being totally self absorbed!  Keep posting gang!!

W - glad to know the moving process is going as planned... ;) It all sounds fairly normal thus far - if you start posting about having to sew some leather waistcoats for the aardvarks, then we'll let you know.... ;D

Rk4 - hi there, sorry you're still suffering and not sleeping. Bloody knees are a bugger sometimes  :-\ Hope you can turn a corner soon... Edward, bless his little pegs, is having a bit of a rest (as are my finger pads, ouch!) at the moment. I've been practicing all my scales and finger placements, but my left hand was aching so much I've decided to give him a small holiday, lol. We'll be reunited soon though.... I'll try and post a picture of him so you can all admire his fantastic bodywork  ;).

A - husbands are a very real hazard in bed - I've had several occasions where J will heave himself over and either knife me in the shin with one of his toenails or smack his knee into mine! It hurts enough when it's my 'good' knee - if he gets Len the left, I have to stop myself from clocking him on the head with the lamp. If I have surgery again I'll be tempted to get one of those French bolster things and shove it down the middle of the bed :o

Everyone else - hi and hope the knees and lives are treating you well!!

More soon, the summer holidays are so exhausting....when September comes I might have a bit more time ::)

Thanks RK I also had a crap night, not sure why...I had a walk round a couple of shops yesterday looking for some holiday stuff after doing some house work so I guess that might be the reason though I would have thought by this stage that wouldn't be too much to do considering it's only a couple of weeks before I go back to work...oh well will have to wait and see how that all works out ::)

A you must be desperate to find out if there is some kind pf allergy going on in the knee, at least if it came back as a positive you would know what your dealing with, what would the options be if that were the case??
Apart from that it sounds like your work is keeping you pretty busy these days which is a good thing to keep your mind of all the if's and but's of what's going on.

W you my dear sound as if your one busy lady, I hope your not finding it all too stressful, I can imagine its bad enough just moving house but moving to a whole new city would be extra stressful.
Excellent news on how the knee is holding up, and yipee to your hiking speed ect.

Brams when do your schools go back? ours went back last week but I know we always finish up before the English schools and go back before them, most of the kids I have spoken to were desperate to get back especially because of how rubbish the weather has been this summer.

I hope everyone else is doing ok and the knees toes and shoulders of the world are behaving

Hey Gang,
I hear you Tez on the no sleep thing. :-\

Brams don't leave Edward for too long he will think you don't love him any more. ;)

It is nearly 2 a.m. No house work yesterday just walking and paying big time. :'(
My darling hubby kindly bought me the coolest looking cane today. It is made out of a crooked piece of real grainy wood. I told him it matches me perfectly. I guess he is tired of watching me limp around and not be able to do anything to help ease the pain.  He is such a sweetie.  I never thought at 48 I would be needing a cane, but kind of looks like it may become part of my regular attire like my ballcap and running shoes.
Well gang going to go soak in the tub and see if that will ease the pain. :(

Take Care all!

Hey mini-gang!

Crap night here too, bad flare at the moment, haven't a clue why and it's driving me mad! The old knee gave way on me yesterday as well, hasn't done for a while and of ourse it's made me all nervous and twitchy, lol. Luckily I was in our bedroom and there wasn't space to do much except fall on something soft... ::)

Rk4 - husbands are ace aren't they? (apart from when they drive you insane ;D) I love proper woody things made of proper wood - they always feel amazing and look great. I am purchasing a stick/seat thing today for our holiday - so I can have a short rest if there aren't any seats around!! Glamorous hey?! Edward is fine, I tell him love him all the time.... ;)

Tez - our schools go back at the start of September, so we have a week to go (after this one, lol!). We're on holiday for a week from Saturday, so it's all madness here. Mind you, the packing involved is microscopic compared to W's, so I'd better not complain too much!!!

W - hope that packing is still going as planned and the inevitable clearing out not too hard on the old joints. May your move be swift and smooth, like the glide of a well-known razor across the face of a well-known grey fox of an actor..... 8)

Well girls, hope the knees and things are not too bad today. I am shattered and achy and plan a quiet day mooching about between sofa sessions before I have to tutor later on. Not in the mood today, that's for sure!

Take care all,

Brams  ;)

Well ladies it looks as though I am back to the drawing board.  I am apparently not allergic to the implants.  I suppose it's good, but would have been something to work with & now back to no one knowing what to do for me :'(  Maybe by tomorrow I will be able to see a bright side to this but right now can't.

W- Sounds like you are doing great & the move is close -best of luck with all of it.  Is your cat making the move too?  Always fun to take long trips with cat what with the litter & all ;)  Awesome on the hike & walking speed...ahh to be able to move at 4mph again.  A girl can dream!

Bram -Sorry the knee gave out & the CRPS peeked it's nasty head out of the box.  Hope you are able to contain the beast soon.  Don't let the knee giving out stop the progress you've made, just a minor glitch.  I hear you on the divider -I slept on couch for months after lateral release & PJFR -made PT mad, as she thought it was because I was scared to go upstairs, didn't get that I was scared of moving hubby who twitches uncontrollably as he falls asleep!

Tez- Sounds like you are feeling better & doing a bit too much, take it easy please.  We don't like to hear you're still not sleeping well.

Hey to everyone else, hope lack of posts is a good thing & you're out living & enjoying life and joints are happy.  Cheers-A

Sorry A! - head not on properly at the moment, some of the stuff I'm coming out with is bizarre.....

I'm ok thanks, just a bit freaked and going slightly mad with the pain stuff. It's such a strange type of pain, all jolts of electricity, buzzing feelings through my leg, skin as though it's burning from a day in the Sahara.....hate hate hate it. My whole left leg seems to be involved at the moment. - it was stone cold yesterday, then everything heated up in the evening. Today it's all been ok temperatures but as though my veins are buzzing throughout that leg, and the skin is crackly and sore. This evening the skin on my left arm has been sore and crackly as well, so one whole side seems sunburnt. So strange. My foot hurts, my ankle is sore, my knee is sore and hurts inside as well, all the muscles are sore and buzzy......gosh hark at me, what a bloody whinger!!!!

A, I'm so sorry you've got no further, but I am pleased that you aren't allergic to the implants, because that would have entailed surgical correction of some kind and more pain and recovery.... On the other hand, I know you must be sooooo frustrated to be back at square one. I have no ideas or answers, just sympathy and crossed fingers for you that this situation improves soon. Stay strong and don't give up hope girl!

Take care all, hugs to the knees....

Hi Gang,

Sorry for my lack of posts lately.  I've been having a bit of a dip as Brams calls it as well.  Ah, well.

W...How's the knee holding up with all the moving?  I hope that you have plently of strong men to help you with the chores.  Strong and good looking men!   ;)  Tic toc.  It's almost time for you, huh?

Tez...YaY to Spain!!  I was so hoping that you would be able to make the jaunt to Spain before you headed back to work.  You have friends in Spain, correct?  Glad that the knee has finally settled down.  Boo to the fact that you can't sleep.  Did you sleep well before you hurt your knee?  I do know some people who are just chronic insomniacs.  It bites.

Brams...Hugs to you Brams.  That CRPS is fecked up.  At least you have kept your sense of humor. :)  I know it's not easy to when you are in pain but you manage quite well.  What's a whinger?  More hugs and hope today is a better one for you and your poor knee/leg/head.

A...Hum.  You still have no answers.  I'm sorry.  Does your doctor have any other theories as to why the knee is still hurting?  Ugggg.  Yes, stay strong and don't give up the hope.  Sometimes it's all we have to hang on to!

Rk...Your cane sounds really cool!  I'm sorry that you need it but I hope that it does help.  I'm also glad that you aren't too proud to carry one.  Kiss all the farm animals for me.   ;)

Lottie...Hope you are hanging in there as well and that Reggie isn't being bad.  You are almost ready to head back to school, huh?  I'm sure you are excited about the PT class.  You are going to be one motivating teacher.  Good going gal.

Hello to everyone else and hope that you are doing well.

The Vineyard was just lovely.  Sorry I didn't post any pics on FB of the trip; we've been there so many times that I've taken as many pics as I can take!  The weather was just perfect for the first few days.  PERFECT.  M. and I hung out by the water and just relaxed.  We stayed at a nice B and B. that was about 1.5 miles to town and we walked back and forth a couple times a day.  I was so happy that the knee didn't so much as whimper!  Anyway, it was a really nice way to close out summer. (oh, I hate typing that!)

Speaking of knees, my new knee is feeling a bit tweaky today.  I rode the bike pretty hard two days this week and last night I had to get up to ice the thing.  It doesn't hurt hurt, but it's pretty swollen and I can hear/feel things moving around.  Crap.

Hugs to everyone and hope that you are all doing well today.
