Hi All,

Have no time to post replies today only have a few minutes left in the Library. I have finally joined a Running Club, Droitwich Athletics Club and did my 1st run yesterday of nearly 6 miles and led all the way with two other guys.

Today doing an 8km Charity run for the Club, my right knee swells up and just has to put up with it for now.

Brams - I understand about the dips. I have been in a real "up" the past few days but I am having a nasty foot night. Swollen shiny red toes. Yuck. I am treating them with white wine. Not sure that will help but I don't care! I hope the blip passes rapidly. How have the limbs been feeling with the hotter weather? I think you've probably doing a bit more than usual too....plus it is very warm....just try and chill out and I am sure that tomorrow will be better.....if you fancy getting up at 4 on Sunday morning I am pondering an early morning escapade to the Bristol hot air festival - 100+ balloons launch at 6.00am and 6.00pm - evening no good as its Olympics closing.....so i might drag my ass out and down the Fosse Way!

Everyone else - how are things going? Tez you have been quiet....how is the knee settling down? Don't worry too much if that bone site still feels horrible. Bone work is always really painful and I know from experience that anyone drilling things out of your bones is danged nasty. Hope the family are looking after you well and you're managing to escape some days...I need my foils doing...shall I pop up and you can do them sitting down?!  :P

A, I hope the blood work brings some answers. As you say, if it shows that you are allergic then what happens next...but if it doesn't...equally what happens next. I hope you're enjoying some time out on the bike anyway and that is probably therapy in itself! How are the workouts going? I have been attempting a 9 workouts in 7 days series set by my trainer before he swanned off on holiday....theory is that you basically overtrain then take 3-5 days off and come back really strong....I am just shattered but actually am feeling much stronger and my sleep and mood are vastly improved. I guess I just like feeling I am pushing...but today was meant to be a double session with resistance in morning which I did with gusto then a cardio intervals this pm...I just couldn't make it! I felt so tired and my foot is hot so I gave in and lay in the shade and read my book! I shall go for it tomorrow instead! Anyway, enough of my rambling...I hope the knee is calm at the moment and keep us posted on the blood results....

W .....yo yo yo - you know how pleased I am with your news from email exchanges but I need to say WELL DONE on here too! Thank god I now have to only visit one side of Canada! I fear I might end up wanting to stay too.... :P  How is the packing and the move and the knee coming along? I bet you can't wait! When will you actually start with working over there?

Robin - your courses sound awesome. I posted my registration form for the PT course that starts in September this week. It will run one evening a week and I will gain my Level 3 qual next May all being well...bit slower than ideal but I think being with a groups of others each week will be really good for me and also reinforce in my own mind that I can do this! My trainer has hinted that he is looking to expand his business and wants people to work with clients at home....and he said when I'm done he would be happy to pass me work which would be amazing. Plus he'd kind of mentor me and he has been SO good at working with me and actually developing legs that can do proper leg work I really trust him. I hope your course is going good - do you have a practical to do too? We have to write a case study but then do a practical session with someone.

Rk4 I am so sorry that the surgery hasn't brought better relief. I guess it was always a bit of a chance but I really hoped the knees would settle down. How is little Tika coming along? Whats the weather doing with you at the moment? We're enjoying some summer - briefly! Had dinner at a pub on the terrace last night- wow!  8)

Snowy - you're a nutter, that is all I am going to say! I am intrigued how the PFS reacts to things like Mud Warrior or whatever it was called! I often think of trying something but I fear setting off a huge flare up again.

Nick - I am pleased you've found a running club and I hope you settle in well with job and house move etc. Exciting times.

Who have I forgotten?! Me?! I am OK. Reggie has been having phases of REALLY good behaviour, almost like he has been feeling the same as the other foot. Strangely though when he has felt very hot or throbby I've had it in my other toes too. I am deciding that it is due to both feet just getting over heated as the other toes don't look like Reggie does when he throws a strop! I've been busy with training, some work and of course our trip down South that Brams summed up so well! I attach a picture of Reggie enjoying the sea....he got so cold it felt wonderful but I don't think freezing your CRPS bits is the best treatment method......Brams and I had a laugh despite the dodgy food and the fact that Torquay is indeed a **** hole that poor Brams had to amuse herself in for 3 hours whilst I worked! I have some work next week, and a few things coming up that should prove fun...trying so hard to reclaim normality and not tell R about my danged foot every five minutes. Life WILL be normal... ;D

Hugs to everyone and hope you all have a great weekend.....Reggie below....xxx

Oh and when the seagulls woke me at 5.30 i went for a sea side walk at 6.00am...was beautiful...wish I loved by the sea!!

Brams sending you a wee Scottish (((hug))) in fact a big Scottish ((((((((((hug)))))))))) I hope you feel a bit brighter soon.

W how are things going with the work your doing in the house and the preparations for the big move? and hows the knee feeling and handeling all the extra work? I really hope your not overdoing things and your taking care of that knee ;)

Robin you are indeed a busy bees, I take my hat off to you with all the studying your doing I really don't think I could go back to the books at my age I feel as if information falls out of my brain very easily these days, so your ability to study and do well is very impressive.

A when will you get the results of the blood test's? I'm not sure if it will be a good thing to find out that your allergic to the implant or not, but at least if that was what the problem is then something could be done about it, and you would have some kind of answer to all the problems you've been having.
I'm pleased your getting some good weather so that you can get out and about on the motorbike, I'm missing some nice rides out in the good weather we're having, but between my knee and D's hip its not happening this year.

Snowy thanks for the info about the brace, I'm not sure if there is somewhere to go and have one fitted around here but I'm sure Paul will know, I am prepared to pay for something that I can comfortably wear all day so I will see what's on offer over here.

RK4 how are things with you I really feel for you that even after this last op your still in pain, at least in my case even though the surgery I just had is not going to fix anything this time but at least I know the next one should sort me out, sending a (((hug))) your way too tonight.

Lottie how goes things with you? you have been pretty quiet on here lately I hope all is well with you R and the mogs.

Nick you must be feeling pretty good right now everything seems to be falling into place for you long may it continue.

As for me things are feeling better the knee is much less painful and the flex and extension is back to what it was pre op, I still feel the knee is very weak and the instability is very obvious, so I really think a brace is a must for returning to work,  I thought I was ready to go back to work but after walking around without a crutch today I have realised the knee is still far too weak, so I now think another couple of weeks off will not go wrong.
Apart from that my poor hubby is now on the waiting list for a hip replacement, he has had a problem with his hip for the last few years, he always thought it was down to the physical work he has done for years but he had an appointment with an ortho surgeon last week and he seemed to think there was some kind of  damage to the hip years ago, he thought he had had some kind of accident or a problem as a child because the anatomy of his hip was not quite right, the only thing that anyone can think of is when he was born he was a breach baby and his Mum said they had to pull him out by the ankle, so we're thinking there could have been slight damage to his hip at birth which has been the cause of the damage over the years, anyway his surgeon said the hip was basically trashed and his only option was a replacement, so with any luck he will be having it done within the next 3 months, by then I will be back to normal so I can take care of him, then he should be getting back to normal to do the same for me when its time for my second stage revision, fingers crossed it all works out like that but tbh things don't usually fall into place like that for us though it would be good if it did.

I hope everyone is looking forward to a fun weekend take care lovely people

Hey Gang,
Thanks but things remain the same, I like to call that last surgery a total waste of quad muscle and time. :'(
Tez a Scotish hug is worth its weight in gold.. :)
Lottie, Tika is fine and has the softest fur I have ever felt on a cat. She is going to be beautiful when she is full grown. :) We have your English weather now.  An elderly couple asked hubby and I for directions tonight while we were waiting at one of our many dough nut shops, low and behold they had just flown in from  England and needed directions to their family down the road from us.  Man what a small world. ;)
Brams thanks but sleep just doesn't seem to happen any more so i just take  it as it comes. :-\
A.. yes it is sad when people can't share,, what is even sadder is that they won't share with their own son who has been carrying the work his father should have been doing the last 10 years. They owe him big time but are just to greedy. :'(   (He is hubbies nephew.)
W hope you are not over doing that knee. ::)
Robin keep up the studying.. :)
Hope that is everyone the list seems about right.
Take Care all.

Hey Guys,

Just stopped in for a bit to send out a quick hi to all fellow geeks out there.

Brams...So sorry that you are feeling so low.  Hope things are better for you today and if not today then tomorrow!  Big Italian hugs to you. ;)

Tez...That's great that your knee flexion and extension is improving and that your pain is becoming more bearable.  I know that you hate to take time off from work but it does seem to be the wisest thing to do right now.  No fooling.  Take care of that knee until your next (very successful) surgery.

Lottie...Oh, your class will be here before you know it.  It all sounds very promising!  I still have so much work to do and so much studying.  I took a pretest and failed a good hunk of it.  Of course, I didn't read any of the course work beforehand but was curious as to what I knew or didn't know.  Hahaha...I found I didn't know much when it came to certain subjects.  Hey, I saw a very sweet 89 year old client today whose name was Lottie.  I kinda smiled everytime I used her name because all I could think of was you of course!

W...Hope the house is coming together still and that you are enjoying the weekend.  Hope the stickiness has improved!

Rk...I'm sorry.  Do you want a big Italian hug?  ((Rk))  Well, you got one!

A...How de do!  Hope your weekend is fantastic and that you are able to get out on the bike with J.

That's all for now.  I must go enjoy a cold beer and sit by the fire that M. has built on this very humid night.  What?  A fire?!  Ummmm...maybe I'll just say no to this one.  Man sure does love a good fire. ;)

Hi gangette!

Just a quickie today to give you the joyous news that the British weather is back to normal, and we have downpours of solid-feeling rain today. I was deeply suspicious of all that warmth and sunshine 8)....it's just not normal, after all. ;D

Thanks for hugs guys, I talked myself out of the quagmire quite quickly and was back to my cheery self within a few hours. The return of the rain has perked me up no end this morning as well....

It's the closing ceremony of the Olympics tonight. I am going to miss it all so much. I always miss it when it ends, but having it here has been a bigger experience, even though I haven't been able to go to anything (bloody ticket system grrrr - don't get me started >:(). We've done astonishingly well, too, which has had us all caught up in the craziness of the whole thing. I managed to finally get us tickets to the Paralympics, so we will be off to watch the volleyball, which is pretty much all that was left! Not even in the Olympic Park, but the Excel, but I'm sure it'll be fab - apparently the cable car goes from the Excel park, so we might take a trip on that if we can!!

I just hope that the talk of a 'lasting legacy' means more than just showing endless flipping FOOTBALL all the time, with other sports given bugger all coverage time in comparison. After all, the one sport in this country that can't complain of funding, opportunities, being pushed in schools, facilities etc is football. And yet after all these years we are still mainly RUBBISH in all but UK competition. The sheer percentage of foreign players doesn't help of course, far fewer home players get into the big teams to play at a high level, so when it comes to making up a national team, we struggle a tad. Makes you wonder though, what might we have achieved if just a part of all that attention were paid to some other sports instead? Ooo hark at me on a rant, lol ;)

Hope everyone's knees and other bits are behaving today, and that you all have a good day, as far as is possible anyway (thinking of you more poorly gals there x). I wish you all a little bit of sunshine :)

Good morning folks its been kinda quiet on here the last few day's
W how are the plans for the big move going? I'm sure your up to your up to your eyes in everything just take care of the knee though ;)

Brams its so good to hear your feeling a bit more optimistic, it must be hard to feel upbeat all the time when your dealing with something as unpredictable as crips so I take my hat of to both you and the lovely Lottie for the way your dealing with all this.

Lottie good new that reggie is behaving for the time being and I'm pleased you have some fun things to look forward to all work is not good for anyone :D

Robin your still sounding very upbeat and happy which makes me so happy ;D but why a fire in the middle of summer??? is this something that your husband the fire starter does often???? I can understand living in a cold wet place like Scotland and having a fire in the summer bit not where you are...

A any news on the blood test yet???

RK you can have a big Scottish (((hug))) any time you want, if there was anything I could do to help you feel a bit better I would...

Everyone else Nick and Superrat and Snowy and anyone else I have forgotten I hope all is well with you all

as for me things here are improving every day I have stopped using even 1 crutch and the knee feels not too bad, its still feels quite weak and it is very wobbly, but apart from taking a wrong step  it is not as painful as it was, though I am still as bored as ever but I will wait until I see Paul on thursday and see when he thinks its time to go back to work, I also want to find out from him what Mr B said about flying as we are still thinking about having a week in Spain before I go back to work, fingers crossed I get the all clear to fly and I get some nice warm sun around me to set me up for going back to the salon.

Take care folks Tez

Hi All,

Finally done my 1st competitive Race for Droitwich AC and did an 8km off terrain Race and done ok for my very 1st run as a 117 took part in the Race and I managed to come 24th in a time of 37.12 and came 3rd for Droitwich AC out of the 20 that turned up on Race Day.

I then did some circuit training last week Saturday at the Athletics Track Opposite Droitwich Leisure Centre and had to do 100 metre sprints and relay races and long jumps. I am not cut out to do sprinting and long jumps as my right knee swelled up and became sore. I was ok after the Race on Thursday morning knee was swollen but not too painful. I am not a sprinter as I came 2nd out of the 6 that did the 100 metre sprint 3 men and 3 women and the guy that kept in front was very quick and cannot see any point trying to compete with him as I beat him in the long distance running.

I wont bother doing circuit training again too much stain for my knees and will stick to long distance running that I am good at. I did contact Russ my PT and he is now working abroad the majority of the time and told me to see someone at Droitwich Knee Clinic instead and ask for advise from Droitwich AC who to see there.

Link below are the Race Results!

http://droitwichac.co.uk/events/20120808_Halesowen/Results.pdf

I put an offer on a 2 bed Flat in the Centre of Droitwich Town Centre and waiting now for a phone call from the Estate Agent if my offer been accepted or not and as usual my Mortgage lender are being cautious even though my Flat rent is paying for the very low mortgage left on the flat in Droitwich as I have a lot of equity from my old flat and transferring the cash over to the Droitwich Flat and what I owe is peanuts and because I not started my job and worried I might not keep up payments that I will do as I won’t be moving in there and paying bills till I start working at the Residential Home and credit history is excellent so should get the go ahead from my mortgage lender which is delaying the process and getting stressed out over it as I really want that flat. Will re-mortgage my old flat that's covered easily by the rent.

Sorry once again not to respond back to other posts just have too many things on my mind right now!

Hey All,

Tez...Hey you.  Awesome news on the lack of pain in your knee and the possiblility of a trip to Spain; that would be sweet!  I'm guessing that it is your OS that gives you the clear for flying?  I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.  Were you able to get your hands on a good brace yet?  M. finds building/watching a fire very relaxing so he's been doing it even on the hottest nights.  I ususally stay in the comfy confines of the air conditioned house. I ain't no fool. ;)  You be well and I hope to hear that you get cleared for that trip to Spain. ;D

Brams...Yay to the Olympics.  I enjoyed almost every moment of the sports that I watched.  (Beach volleyball?!...I think NOT!)  I'm kinda sad that it's over as well.  I didn't get a chance to watch the closing ceremonies but it sounded like they were nice.  Hope all is well with you, the knees and the dang crips.

Lottie...Good to hear from you.  You really got into the games as well, ey?  Hope Reggie is being a good boy and that your week is rolling along.

W...Hey, where for art thou?  I hope that your lack of posting is due to the fact that you are busy with your move.  How's the knee and shoulder holding up?

Hi to everyone else.  I'm really not all that busy.  I haven't picked up a book since I took the PT test.  I really should be studying but am feeling a scary lack of motivation lately.  Oh, I did get to the gym on Sunday and tried my new knee out on some of the equipment that I haven't used since the replacement.  I did about 20 minutes each on the ellipitical, the rowing machine, the treadmill and then made an attempt to do some leg extensions and presses on their equipment.  I stopped after about 5 reps on the leg extension machine; it felt like it was hurting my knee.  I was much more successful on the leg press and managed to fatigue the quad muscle a bit.  I still don't think it's firing correctly.  (Kinda like my brain!)  Anyway, hope everyone has a great week and weekend.  M. and I are taking off to Martha's Vineyard for the rest of the week.  It's a nice week to go over; they have quite a few things going on to cap off their summer including one of the nicest fireworks displays I've ever seen.  Be good all and hugs.

Hi Gang!

I'm not ignoring you folks, but life has been crazy busy!  Getting the house ready came to a dead stop for the past week.  It was WAY to humid and hot to be doing anything like painting.  We had 100% humidity yesterday, and a dew point of 20 degrees celcius.  Everything felt wet!  That just lifted about two hours ago, and now it feels really cold outside.  Funny how you can have the same temperature, but take away the humidity, and it seems much cooler.

Tez..I am very happy to hear that your leg is doing so well.  Please be careful with the wobbly leg.  Maybe a cane might be an idea for awhile.  I did it, and so can you!!  I really hope that you get to have a lovely vacay in Spain.  You certainly deserve it!

Brams..sorry you had a rough day awhile back there.  I am glad it didn't last too long.  I hope things are going well for you.

Robin.....HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!  You know what I am laughing at ;).

Lottie...I hope that Reggie is permanently behaving.  If having a strong will and a positive attitude has anything to do with this, then keep up the positive healing vibes.  You are one determined chickie in everything that you do!

Nick..thing sound like they are going well for you!

Well, I have the movers coming to pick up my stuff on August 27th.  OMG...I am trying to take as little as possible, but it is hard to give up your treasures.  I have come to the conclusion that I am going to have to buy a bed with storage, and a sideboard for all of my serving trays, bowls...etc.  I cannot leave everything behind...just can't do it!  I will rent a storage unit if I have to!

Snowy, RK4, A, and Super..I hope all is well, or at least relatively well with all of the respective bits.

Gotta hit the hay!  Physio at 0645!  Oh, the knee continues to improve, and I am gaining a small bit of strength back.  I guess it took 8 months for it to go to mush, I am not going to get it back very quickly.  Seeing that I am not allowed to do squats or lunges. the stair master has really been helping me, especially my hamstrings.  Slow and easy WILL win the race.  There is less scrunching and patellar pain all of the time.  I don't get any heat in my knee anymore, and the click never came back this time!  AWESOME!  Bring on life!!

W

Hi All,

The only thing that's delaying getting this 2 bed flat in Droitwich Town Centre is the mortgage lender as they worried I will not keep up my payment as it says zero hours contract and cannot see what the fuss is about as the £575 per month on my flat that's being rented out pays for both mortgages and the flat in Droitwich is 90% paid off so being very stupid as I can prove that I will be getting a monthly income. I basically mortgage free on the Flat in Droitwich and have a good credit history and slashed my monthly mortgage payments on the Droitwich flat and could pay it off over 5yrs.

Should be happy to let me continue the mortgage if I only have a small amount left to pay as other clients have a much higher mortgage and are accepted for a mortgage.

W, I am SO happy that the knee is behaving! Just shows what an impact that mushed up piece of meniscus was having on the whole function and recovery. I hope the rest of the move pans out smoothly...I would be the same with not wanting to leave stuff behind...don't forget M Jnr and Miss Lips!
