Robin, Oh..I am eating enough. I just changed things around, and really limited carbs. Well, I should say bread and rice. I'll tell you my little regime.
Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs, two slices of "bird seed" bread..lol, and orange juice.(I will NEVER give up my morning OJ).
Mid morning: 1/2 banana or a yogurt
Lunch: protein shake with milk, strawberries and banana
mid afternoon: Latte(hey, it's a cup of milk or more)
supper: 4 oz chicken, jumbo spinach salad with tomatos, red onion, peppers, carrot, almond slivers, and balsamic vinaigrette(regular, not diet).
dessert: 1.5 cups of fresh strawberries with yogurt.
Oh..and one piece of dark chocolate!
If I were exercising, I would have to eat more starchy carb, but with the lack of exercise this will have to do.
Tomorrow I am backing off the spinach salad tomorrow. I will have a huge chicken stir fry with no rice. I can only handle so much salad!

W, sounds like my food intake!!
Anyway, I want to run through Lottie's morning....9.20 arrive at GP surgery for 9.30 review with doc. (Pain meds etc). Go in to see nice doc at 9.30 (always a good start). Seen this nice doc once before as normal nice doc had a baby. Sit down.
Nice (ND) doc - So what I can do for you?
Me - I'm just here as my repeat prescription flagged up I needed a review for my meds for my foot
ND , flicking onto screen - ah yes, you have RSI.
Me - not quite
ND - RSI in your foot it says here? (you can see she is thinking how on earth has this bird got RSI in her foot)
Me - RSD aka CRPS aka danged pain in the butt syndrome
ND - RSD? Aha. someone has entered you as having RSI. Pregabelin for RSI is quite unusual. Not that you have RSI. Its RDS.
Me - RSD.
ND - RSDI
Me - nope, just RSD.
Chortles of laughter all round. Resist urge to bang head onto desk and dribble quietly.
Anyway it was all fine and doc is actually really nice and very positive and no issues with my meds. I could tell she was gagging to have a look at Reggie as she kept mentioning how rare it was (I KNOW!!!) and how it affect people and how positive I was by keeping active etc etc...she kept glancing at my funky trainers....and finally said "can I have a look?". Reggie loves an audience. Unfortunately he was looking drab as I forgot to varnish nails last night but he was nice and chilly for her, and she had a good stroke and prod and was fascinated by the fusion (yes, its meant to be stiff, yes he is meant to point up a little) and got me to wiggle everything, and then said "Gosh I'd never know anything was wrong with it". Blimey Reggie must have been having a good day!!
I did point out the shiny bits, and then we watched as it cycled through some strange colours when I stood and then alleviated as I walked. Nice to be an object of interest in the doc's dull day of piles, coughs and hay fever.....
So, I packed him back up (didn't tell her he was called Reggie, nice doc is quite chic and shiny and I always go in with full grooming on so as not to feel like a spongleoid (sad I know) ) and off we went to the gym. Had to get an energy drink as my low carb intake is rendering me wibbly. Felt much better with some crud coursing through my veins and now am back to do some work...or nap in garden as its actually SUNNY!!
hope everyone else is OK, will reply to everyone later, just thought I'd share Reggie's big adventure...

Thanks Lottie...the recipe would be great. Please say it isn't in grams..lol!
That sounds like an interesting trip to the doc! Now I have to google RSI. I've never heard of that. Oh, I read my funky bread bag with my glasses on this morning. It is an organic bread that is flour free. It is made from sprouted grains and seeds. I am becoming more of a fan by the day. I wasn't sure about it on day 1, but it is really growing on me.
I had physio at 0700h this morning, and didn't have time to eat before I left. My stomach was in full hunger revolt by the time I got home. Eggs and toast...stat! Tummy is happy now.
I really need to start doing some stuff here to get ready for Vancouver. The knee is quite irritated after physio, and I can't seem to get much accomplished. Actually though, my pain level and mobility are the best they have been since pre op. Isn't that always the way. I get semi decently mobile and have to get something else done.
I am happy to say that my conservative physio has added in some quad and extension exercises, and they get easier every visit. They also don't hurt as much as they did. I am so glad I found him. His approach has been the right one, and his diagnostic skills are dead on!
He measured my knee circumference this morning, so that he will be able to gauge how much swelling I have when I come back. That is very smart! Nobody has ever thought of doing that on me before.
I hope everyone has a great day!!

RSI= Repetitive Stress Injury....oh! Well, of course I know what that is! How did that get put on your chart?? I think there is a huge difference between RSD and RSI. It must have been a type o!

Hey KG gang! I am trying me best to stay cool -FL like weather here in upstate NY and no AC! Sticky hot and oppressive. Having lived in FL, I should be used to it, but feels more oppressive here -probably just because 2 days ago was a beautiful 75-80 F and low humidity. We've had wacky weather for months-wish it would just pick something & stay there! I am thinking I need to work in basement and trying to conjure up the will to do so. Day off and have been exhausted from lack of sleep. We had a nice weekend, J built the new stairs for my Dad -he & Mom are thrilled and amazed he only took a few hours (I'm not, he's a machine when he works
and has only had 1 co-worker ever that could keep up with his pace & maintain quality work). I went with Mom to the church-based community center she volunteers at & a woman there tried to convince me that her son would be a great match for me -though I had already told her I was happily married
-Wacko! Told her was very happy & wasn't going to trade J in... Asked Mom what kind of people is she keeping company with? Then we took motorcycle out for a relaxing cruise, went for coffee then decided was good day for ice cream.
My pain doc wants me to have another sympathetic lumbar block (to rule out nerve pain/RSD). I really don't think it is warranted, first one did nothing but cause back pain and I have zero symptoms of nerve pain! Going to chat with OS and thinking about making appt with physical medicine specialist to see if he has any thoughts. Oh- & I think every OS should have a long hallway to evaluate gait, and/or a treadmill, bike so they can FEEL what your joint does when actively using it. Boggles my mind that they don't think that necessary. After scope I was told knee tracks just fine -HA! Maybe when no stress on it, but it certainly isn't right when I do anything else!
Lottie- Please post recipe, sounds good. Glad you like doc, understand the feeling that you need to look your best to see doc who always looks & dresses well. I have one like that as well. Good luck with work, hope it doesn't aggravate Reggie too much -no rainbows of color!
W- Your intake sounds healthy, it's so hard to maintain/not gain weight when you can't be as active as normal. It sounds like you have a good handle on it. Try not to sweat the clothes not fitting right (hard as that is), you've been through a lot and they will fit right again! No one hear is afraid of the work, just dealing with the limits our bodies have given us the best we can. It is so hard to keep weight of when you can't use the largest muscles to their full potential. Just a few days til Vancouver! I'm so happy you get to hang out with friends before the surgery and have some R&R time.
RK4- Cute Hemingway kitty! Just a few more days for you as well -you CAN hang in there, does seem harder as it gets closer. Are the kids all set to pick up your daily tasks? They will need to help as you don't need to push too hard after surgery & risk an incomplete recovery. I did that after 1st surgery -helped J carry sheets of sub-flooring upstairs 5-6 weeks out & set myself back big time, so please take my stupidity as an example of what not to do. Hang in there & yell Ouch to us as often as you need.
Tez- Hope you had a good weekend & have made some plans for a long weekend before your big day. Figures you get an appt smack in the middle of the one week you could have taken off. W's vision of your was husband dead on with what I pictured from your post about him.
Robin -Glad I was able to help -I specifically asked surgeon many questions about what I should/should not do. He didn't ever say anything about the machines until I asked. Also we are not supposed to use inversion equip after joint replacement -I really miss that! I have inverted a few times with just left leg locked in, but probably not the best thing. Glad you had a nice weekend & hope you don't have the humidity we are getting.
Brams - sorry the rowing not working out, but I'm sure the others appreciate your honesty. With any luck the tutoring will pick up after summer. I don't know how the education system is there, but here leaves a lot to be desired and the powers that be cannot get there head out of there a-- to improve things. My sister tutors and it does do so much for the kids having 1 on 1 time with someone who is genuinely concerned about how well they understand a subject. Hope you get some sunny days soon.
Snowy, Rat & Nick -hope you are all doing ok (& anyone else I may have missed). Take care all -A

W...O.K. dear. You are good. Your diet sounds very healthy. Good girl.
The bread does sound very good!!! I love a nice nutty bread. Good for you for seeking out another PT. I'm glad that you like him and are able to do at least some exercises with little to no pain. That's awesome.
Lottie...OMG. Funny story. I wish it was RSI! At least you both had a good laugh over it AND she was able to stroke Reggie. He's such a tease. Hey, your recipe sounds really good. Are these the muffin-like things you posted on your FB page? I have few healthy recipes. Oh, do I miss the days of baking. I got to cook with Plugra or butter and lots of other 'bad' for you foods.
A...Oh, come on. It's only just one more husband.
Probably easier than having several babies! I'm glad that you got your ride in; it sounds like you had a nice weekend. I love it when doctors tell you that 'Everything should be fine' once the operation is over. I wonder if they think they say it enough, you will absorb their power of suggestion?! Sorry to hear that you've got this aweful weather too! I've got all AC's blasting and I'm staying put until the mail comes. This humidity messes with my breathing terribly! (Asthma.) Hey, I think me and a friend might be attending a seminar in Rhinebeck, NY sometime this summer.
I hope everyone else is having a decent day! I must go rassle up some dinner for M. If I don't get a chance to get back on, hope everyone has a good weekend. Yes, back to Falmouth for another several days. Hope it's much cooler there.
Hugs, Robin

Robin - One husband is enough -I am very much a one man gal! Now cats are a different story... If it weren't for J I'd be a crazy cat lady! Rhinebeck about 3-4 hours from me. I'm still hoping to go zip-lining this fall in Vt (Smuggler's Notch), provided I don't need to be chopped again. Made appt with accupuncturist for mid-July. Worth a try, nothing else working!

Geez A...I think there is a cosmic force trying to turn you into a bigamist..lol! Hey..there is NOTHING wrong with a crazy cat lady! Oh..how many cats does it take to be one of those?? I feel your frustration with most OS assessments. Weight bearing examination and actual walking has to be included in these assessments somehow. I wonder why such a simple concept has eluded most(not all) OS's? My PT assesses my walking at least once a week. Back and forth, back and forth!!
A...I could use a handy man up here for a bit. Can you send J up to Canada??
Robin..the physio is the one I have been seeing since the end of March. You know, that I still miss my other PT. We got along really well.
Lottie..I had to add some carb back in the diet. I was too hungry. I have this crazy rice blend that also looks like bird seed. I cooked 1/2 cup of that tonight to have with the stir fry. I actually feel like I won't need to run for an emergency piece of bread so that I will be able to sleep. So, I am trying to use "more healthy" carbs. I really believe in a balanced approach, and I don't like any one food group being demonized. We do need it all. I guess "balance" is the key word.
I hate to go on with this, but I have noticed a HUGE improvement in my energy level the past little while. I am eating more like I am used to eating, and I think I got lazy this winter. There were too many desserts from meals at Mom's, too large of servings, and NOT enough veggies here at home. I was going for quick and easy! It is time to get the normal routine somewhat back.
I just hope that this recovery is on the fast side. It seems to get harder with each procedure. I am really not looking forward to going backward here, but in order to move forward it has to be done. Gosh, I hope not too much of my meniscus needs to be removed...SCARY!
One week from now, there will be a couple of us eating and drinking for the NPO midnight deadline! Maybe I'll eat cupcakes until 2400h..lol!
OMG..I am just going on and on here tonight. I have started the clean up. I have my back porch(mudroom) swept, vacuumed, and mopped. I have my kitchen floor done as well. I managed to vacuum half of my rec room..and then I figured that I had better stop. I cooked supper as well. That is the first time I have done the floors. Mom was going to do them while I was gone, but I have to do as much as I can. I really don't like doing that to her. Maybe if I can get downstairs all done, she can do upstairs for me.
I cannot wait until I can kneel down and do this stuff right.
Robin...Have fun in Falmouth. I think one of my friends from nursing school is working there.

Hey folks its been busy on here again... lots for me to read at stupid o'clock,
W your diet sounds interesting, I have tried the very low carb thing and the first couple of times I did really well with the weight loss while doing it, unfortunately the last couple of times I have tried it I would have killed someone for a piece of white toast after the first week, and I just don't seem to have the will power at the moment, I am just trying to keep as healthy a diet as I can but still give in now and again to some things I shouldn't, I know this weekend is not going to help as we are having a big family dinner for my in laws golden wedding anniversary at a local restaurant on Sunday, then next Saturday I am having a party for my birthday, just in the house but I am sure there will be lots of cocktails consumed that night, oh well I will get all the parting over with before my surgery date then start to behave myself.
RK4 the countdown is on for you and W I hope this coming week flies by without too many sleepless nights, I cant remember if you said you would be kept in hospital over night or will it be done as a day surgery? Whatever I really hope this is going to be the answer for you and give you some relief from all the pain you have been in for so long.
Robin I hope you have a wonderful weekend and you manage to get out and about on Jake, how is the knee now after the mega work out the other day? I hope the swelling has gone down, I guess it must be hard to keep the balance right between doing enough and doing too much when you feel the knee is doing so well.
Lottie I am pleased the Doc got to admire reggie, I'm sure you brightened her day.
A I don't think you can really be classed as a crazy cat lady until you have at least 10 cats, so if that is your plan for the future I think you need to start adding to your collection
I agree with you that one husband is quite enough, but its funny when things like that happen and some Mother is trying to sell you their Son, I wonder how the Son would feel if he knew what his Mum was doing, note to self never do this to Conor no matter how much I like a girl and think she would be perfect for my boy, though I do wonder if there will ever be anyone good enough for him lo.
Brams how goes things with you? I hope the crips is behaving itself for now, How is the tutoring going, I could have done with someone like you when my kids were in school, a good tutor is so hard to getup here.
Nick more big decisions to make for you, good luck with it all I'm sure you will make the right decision, I know the housing market is not good right now, so selling your flat is something to really think about. When is your appointment with Dr Brown? I'm sure it was this week sometime, good luck with it when the time comes.
Right anyone else out there I have missed I hope all is well, W and RK4 just thing a week tomorrow at this time next week your choppage will be all over

It should be just day surgery,, isn't everything now a days. Slice in the morning and send you home in the afternoon. Slice in the afternoon send you home by bed time.. Time will tell what he finds in the nasty knee.

There's a formula to calculate if you're a crazy cat lady...
No. of cats in the house > (no. of people in the house +1) = crazy cat lady
We're borderline, at two people and three cats. At times, with the fosters, we've been well into insanity.
Of course, this is only worth worrying about if you consider being a crazy cat lady to be a bad thing. I personally consider it a compliment.
