Lol! Brams, I am trying to be really good with the food. I have eliminated all of the bad things from my house. I decided to haul my head out of the sand on Saturday, and got on the scales. I was scared to! Well, it was a bit of a shocker!!! I guess that is what happened when you are sitting on your a** for almost 6 months. So, it is back to reduced carbs and increased protein. I have even gone back to making my super duper protein shakes for one meal replacement! I am also trying to emulate my eating pattern when I am at work. I am now going to my fav coffee shop for lunch and getting one of their wraps.
This worked for me last summer/fall before I went to Vancouver. I couldn't really do any exercise then either and I still managed to lose weight. I was getting back to all of my old habits that got me into trouble to begin with. This has been a bit of a hungry week, but I am eating enough. My body just wants more carb! It isn't getting it! By next week, that craving should subside somewhat!
It is almost capri and short weather, and I am not buying any fat clothes. What I have is going to have to work! That means I have to drop 10 lbs pretty quickly! Ah..the battle never ends!

Hey Everyone,
I only have a second before I dash out the door to get some errands run but wanted to say to Brams that I totally thought you were quoting Shakespeare! I am totally impressed. You have many gifts. Hopefully you use them!
Everyone else...I will be back on later or tomorrow. The two boys are chewing at the table legs. Oh, no! Someone forgot to buy food for them this week. Bad mom.

Hi All,
I am really sorry to have deserted you all lately as I have been going through a stressful time and also very busy setting up my Asperger syndrome Social Group so had very little time to log onto KG. I will have some time on Saturday afternoon to catch up with everyone!

Getting really worried about my right knee chaps, just wanted to share it with you...
It's been getting worse over the last six months or so, but been manageable. Very crunchy and grindy with stairs, bending down etc, but not too much pain. The last few days it's been noticeably worse - much more painful, not so much with upstairs, but bending it putting weight through, going down the stairs, and I can't bend it as far as before without horrible pain behind that damned kneecap... It was adding to my woes the other night, all the scary stuff about what happens if both knees become too weak or painful to push me up...
I asked the physio about it today, and she said with my left knee still being quite weak there's not much I can do except try to keep the muscles strong and take it easy on it....and make sure I tell my surgeon in May.
I'm getting a bit panicked about the rowing on Sunday - if I can't put my weight safely through it I might not get into the boat, let alone out of it!

Brams..it sounds like overuse!! Hopefully, your bad leg will continue to get stronger and give your good knee a rest. My good knee acted up really bad last summer, but now it is just the occasional twinge. Yes, it is something to mention to your OS. You don't want to mess around at all!! I hope it settles, so you can go rowing!

Morning Brams, hope the"good" knee feels better soon. Nothing like hobbling around with a bad knee to make the good knee bad as well. I have the exact same problem.
Well it is stupid o'clock and I am still up waiting on round 2 to kick in so I can catch a few zzz's before sun up and loud birds singing..
Hope everyone has a good day. Tez, Lottie, Robin, Snowy, W and the rest of the KG out there.

Hi folks I hope everyone is doing ok, though from the sound of things I fear tha'ts not really the case for some of you,
W I wish someone would get to the bottom of what's going on with your knee, I'm surprised your not freaking out right about now, between the ongoing pain and now the possibility that the graft could be stretching, if it were me I would be going crazy, also I meant to say that even though I mentioned that what your going through might put me off having the revision done, it was tongue in cheek cos once I have made up my mind to do something then there's not much that would put me off, and I am greatfull for your honesty about all the stuff your going through, at least I am going in to this with my eyes wide open and can understand that sometimes things don't always go to plan, so please dont hold back for my sake or anything, from the sound of things you really need to be able to vent about everything that's going on, sending a wee (((hug))) your way cos it sounds like you could use on just about now.
RK4 sorry your not sleeping much better, at least the tramacet seems to be helping with the pain even if it doesn't last long enough, over here there is a slow release tramadol that you can get so maybe there is something similar over with you, might be worth checking out...
Brams your poor good gone bad knee, I hope it is as W said and a wee over use problem and nothing more than that, also hope it doesn't interfear with the rowing, I love to read about how much you enjoy it, you mange to share your love for it with your words, its very cool what was also very cool was your poem, you are one talented lady..
Robin I think you are wise to decline the offer of work in a kitchen for now, there is no point going through all you have been through to do yourself an injury by going back to baking too soon, I also think the trainer thing would be perfect for you that mixed in with your massage would be amazing,
Thanks for the sympathetic words after my Saturday night of hell, its my own fault cos I was so looking forward to a good night out, and it never fails when I really look forward to something there's always something or someone to come along and ruin it, oh well another night out this Sat for a friends 50th birthday party, we have friends from out of town coming to stay and come with us to the party, so I'm trying not to look forward to this one too much lol.
I hope those poor kittys have pleanty to eat now
Lottie how goes things with you? you really are the gym bunny we have all grown to love, I kinda wish you stayed closer then you could be my personal trainer though I'm pretty sure you would terrify me and I would feel incredibly unfit beside you, at least I seem to have the weight sorted...well maybe not completely, I still have a way to go to get to my target but when sorting out some new life insurance I was surprised to hear that my BMI was on the high side of NORMAL instead of just high lol
Good luck with the rowing I really hope you get the same enjoyment out of it that Brams does, its a much better idea than fencing I have watched those fencers lunging etc and cringe at what it must do to their knees.
I hope your weekend is full of pink wine and good food and possible a wee visit to the gym...
Nick I hope the AS social group is a great success, and you also get a chance to follow your dream of working with people with AS, I know you are a bit worried about how having a criminal record could affect your chances of doing this but I think as long as you can explain what happened and how things were really bad for you at the time, maybe someone will give you a chance, I really hope so anyway.
Supperrat boo to the ankle still being a pain, is there anything surgical they could do to help it, You may have already gone into this but I is getting old and forgetful.... sorry
A I'm thinking of you and praying that all is well with you and your family..
Snowy how are things going with you? I spotted new tinycats on FB they are soooo cute looks like you and J have your hands full for a while
All the other geeks that pop in here I hope you are all doing well
Take care

Hi Tez....so, what is going on with you. Tell us your news!!
I am having a good knee day today. I took Naproxen last night, and it really seemed to improve things. I really didn't want to get on the NSAID train again, but the difference in the pain is quite noticeable. I think I might even take one a day.
I also went out and bought an actual stationary bike. It isn't a expensive one, but it was on for half price. My road bike and trainer just aren't working for me, and I have been given the go ahead on the stationary bike, so I am going for it! My mother can have it when I am done!!
Oh my, as I am typing this my father calls and asks if I am in much of a hurry to put the bike together....YES!! If I tell him whenever, I will be waiting until June..lol!
Snowy, I saw the tiny cats too....so cute!!
Brams...How is good knee today?? I really hope you got to go rowing! Let us know oh fair poet!!
Lottie...beat Reggie into submission!! Bad Reggie!
Rk4, Nick, A, Super...I hope you are all having a good one!!

W, have you ever tried or been given Celebrex? As an NSAID it works wonders for me - without the side effects (of course death is a possibility apparently with it but I am still here - not taking it though at moment!!) I took it as a course for a month and the difference was amazing. I know it won't solve underlying issues but if any pain is due to the inflammation it certainly seems to hit it hard.
Tez, I would love to train you!! I can guarantee I would not scare you or make you feel unfit. We all work differently and like different things to keep us fit. A good trainer respects that; we'd have a blast!! Hey ho, too far away though!
More later - and in advance - happy birthday Brams tomorrow, although I decided it was TODAY!!

Tez, don't believe a word of it, she scares me witless....and that's outside of a gym.
Now you know I'm only joking Lottie. Calm it down lass. There's no need for violence.
Ah, I'm in a silly mood tonight. Might be something to do with being 41 tomorrow morning! I won't be sorry to see the back of 40, not my finest year so far. 41 is going to be my Year of the Phoenix, whereupon I shall arise from the ashes like the mythical beast itself, and vanquish all who stand in my path.... Or something like that
Thanks for the wishes re the good (ha) knee - it's still playing up more than I would like, but not as much pain today. I know it's an overuse thing, but according to the MRI the PFA is worse than in the left one, which worries me somewhat as I know that all the extra grief I've given it in the last 18 months will not be helping! Ah well, you just keep ploughing on....lol.
Lots of hugs to the knees creaking away out there. Take care all, and wake me around ten with coffee and a nice crispy bacon and egg pitta....thanks.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Brams for tomorrow in case I don't get online...... your still only a baby at 41 remember 40 is the new 30 so your really only 31, well that what I think cos that makes me 41 this years instead of the unbelievable 51 that my passport says I am
Lottie you need to start thinking about moving way up north so you are nearer to me to get me fit, either that or I will have to find my motivation to do it myself, hopefully after the knee is fixed I can get back to walking miles every day instead of the short walk poor Misty is getting just now.
W sorry not much news from my neck of the woods, work is pretty busy, some good knee days and some horrid ones, the odd good day I do wonder if maybe I should just put up with the knee as is then I have a bad day and remember exactly why I am going for the revision.
The roof has only been down a couple of times in the new car cos we have had lots of rain, I am just praying for a decent summer so that I can go cruising with the top down
I also just ordered my new private reg plate for it, it has TEZ in it and I can't wait to get it on the car.
Apart from that and a wee party tomorrow night there's not much happening untill the 8th of May that's when we are going on our mini cruise to Amsterdam, so thats something else to look forward to, I just cant wait to find out when this op is going to happen so that I can start sorting everything out and maybe thinking of getting out to my friend in Spain for a wee holiday, I am in need of some sun, sea and sangria
Right time to get to bed for work in the morning good night lovely people

OMG....Brams.....I am
EXACTLY
5 years older than you. Happy Birthday to you! Cranker's birthday is tomorrow as well. I guess that makes three April 28th babies!! Imagine, I have spent three of my birthdays in England, and if we had known each other, we could have celebrated together. Maybe some day!
I am so going to jinx myself right now, but I have had the best knee day since November 10th today! I think I will pop another Naproxen. They don't bother me in the slightest, but I just don't like taking them on a full time basis! They were the only thing that got me through last year. I was kind of stressing when I had to give them up a week before the surgery. I have taken one now and then, but the one I took yesterday worked really well. Maybe my body has reset itself, and they are going to work again...who knows! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth! I think that is the saying!
Tez...I don't know! I think I would be afraid to let Lottie train me. I bet she is like a drill sergeant. I would probably end up in the brig for letting off a string of explicatives.....lol!!
Later gang! We are in the middle of a south easterly storm system here. A fully loaded tractor trailer got flipped over from the wind about 2 hours drive from here. It is this place that has mountains on one side, and the sea on the other. The wind that comes off of the ocean is fine, but when it comes south easterly over the mountain, it is common to have winds of 160km in that area. They call it the wreckhouse because the wind actually blew down houses there years ago. Nobody lives on that stretch anymore. Needless to say that even here where I am down in a valley, it is crazy windy out there tonight! I was really hoping for a nice sunny birthday, but it is not to be!

My aunt lives in Yatton, near Bristol! That is my usual perch! I know Lottie is about 1.5 hours away. I asked my aunt how far the drive was. How far away are you from there. I am due for a trip, and my aunt keeps asking me when I am coming over! Who knows...even if it isn't our birthday, we will pretend..lol!
I hope you have a happy knee(s) day as well! That would be a good birthday gift!
