Laurance congratulations on the pregnancy thats wonderful news
is this your first? its great to hear some good news for a change.
Also it brill that the knee is doing so well another bit of good news coming from you
As for me yep its about the 8 month mark for me and the ACL itself is doing well the graft was tested last week by my physio and OS unfortunately the rest of my knee is in meltdown mode at the moment I am waiting for a new MRI my OS thinks its probebly a meniscus problem and also something going on with the pattela he was talking another scope and a LR, so we shall wait and see what shows up on the MRI if anything considering my rupture ACL didnt show up on the first one I had I ont have a lot of confidence in them.
Congrats again to you and Sonia take care

tez, yes this is the first. so both very excited and also a little scared at the unknown. but on balance very happy, and a good motivation to get the knee rehab outvthe way by the end of august.
quick update is... all is well. lots of gym, at four days a week, plus now doing a bike ride at the weekend as well for approx 20-25km. knee is coping on the whole, odd niggles every so often but otheriwse both knees are treated and feel equals.
get to see the pt tomorrow morning , and the os next monday. so hopefully time to get over the four month hurdle (wow!) and off to the joys of plyometrics and yet more knee abuse. will report back in due course.
lawrence.

short update
saw the pt last week and the os today.... in short, all is well, one happy graft and ongoing gym required.
big plan is normal gym plus light running and light swimming from now, add in football dribbling / squash court work from May, and hill walking & yacht sailing after the 9 month mark (end of august)
...and then new family addition from mid september.....
trust all is well out there

Hi all, trust everything is well with everyone out there.
Just a quick update as i am now almost 5 months through the 9 month rehab period.
Finally started hopping and very gentle jogging today as the move into the final phase of PT commences. Knee feels sound and strong, so fingers crossed the persistence in the gym will pay off by the time nine months is up.
Downside is I now have a click in the good knee which is perhaps most likely to be flappy cartilage. Perhaps one for the surgeon another day. Doesn't seem to be getting in the way for now, although is certainly twingey after hard exercise.
Good luck with your respective recoveries.

Hey Lawrence! Checked in on your thread and I see that you have very exciting news - many congratulations! That must be extremely exciting for you and your wife.
Glad that all is progressing well with the knee, too. I hope the cartilage problems stay at bay for a while - sounds like you're going to have plenty to keep you busy.

Hi everyone out the, trust all is well with you and your respective knees.
Just a short update, I am now 6 months post surgery date and all is well. Currently on 3 sessions a week down the gym, and 50km bike ride each weekend. Still not losing any weight for all this effort but feeling very good for the oodles of exercise being put down. Also doing plyometrics involving running, hopping, twisting and figure of 8s around the squash courts - knee is broadly taking it, but will ache for 6-12 hours if I get too carried away!!
100km sportive coming up at the end of June, so need to get in shape for that one
))
Have fun all
Time to get back to testing the heart rate on junior's growing bump

Just a short update - finished the 100km sportive today in 30 degrees centigrade in middle England. Bit of an epic, one in 5 hours or so with a few breaks along the way. Knee is a bit grumpy under the kneecap, but ACL held up fine. Now back to (1) the fridge for a beer and (2) the freezer for some ice for the cryocuff!!
Otherwise a harmless end to month 7 post surgery, and about 10 weeks to go until junior is supposed to turn up!

Hi all, just a little update to keep spirits up out there. Now 8.5 months post surgery (wow), and knee is doing well. Still doing three visits a week to the gym to abuse the acl as much as possile, and approx 50-70km bike rides over the weekend. Knee is taking abuse well, if just ocassionally a bit tetchy - seems a little unpredictable in relation to exercise sustained, so guess that is just the way it is. Have certainly found that stronger quads make for a happier knee in general, so pounding out 100kgs on the leg press on a regular basis coupled with one legged wall squats with the big ball behind me. Not bad given 30kg was too much back in January!!
Have got a weekend hiking planned to celebrate the end of 9 months rehab, and it is now only 5 weeks before the little one makes an appearance into our life. Time to shift priorities is rapidly approaching.
Lawrence.

Hi Lawrence,
I've read your blog with interest. How are you going these days and how's the bub going?
Interested to hear about which leg press machine you are using - is it the one where you add plates or just a regular machine with a pin used to change the weight? Either way 100 kgs is awesome! Well done. I'm 1 year post op and I'm doing 250 lbs on the leg press machine (pin used to change weight). I can't do as much on the other one though due to the angle and due to still being worried it may be too much for my knee if that makes sense.
Hope all is well!
