just wanted to say congrats! that's my surgery date also.

At this point I am driving myself crazy with nerves... destroying my fingernails to the point that my manicurist is for sure going to slap my knuckles... also trying to preemptively get the house clean, laundry done, etc. before I am laid up.

Let's stay calm and try to relax...  :)

Kris,

Congrats to you too!! We should definitely keep in touch post op- almost like having a recovery pen pal! lol
As for nerves- the only thing that i catch my self doing is the destroying of the fingernails too- but i don't understand why- Maybe its my subconcious thats nervous because i am not- I have seemed to have gone from an open sched for the next 4 days to extremely busy- so that will help pass the time- though i don't know if i want it to go too fast! lol
I too am spending these last days cleaning and shopping and having a BBQ- i still don't know what possesed me to want to have a bbq the day before surgery! lol..

Stay calm and relax- thats our new thought for the day!!!

I have my mother coming in from out of state for the week to babysit me and drive me to PT because my husband has a work project he couldn't escape... so add that stress to everything else! I'd rather a bbq?  :) As shallow as it is, it's also my goal this week to spend as much time as I can outside and poolside before the big day... not sure how long it will be til I'll be back up to it again and then there's the constant sunscreening of the incisions!

I was already a wreck trying to get everyone at work up to speed for my time off- then yesterday I was told, oh by the way, my employee is going to be in his home of Bulgaria while I am out post-surgery... yes I was counting on him to cover a lot of the work. Thanks for the notice guy! Also got a frantic phone call yesterday afternoon tellng me that my surgery needed to be moved because of all of the post-memorial day emergencies that popped up. Yes, I freaked out like a complete spaz, and the scheduling woman decided it was best to reschedule someone other than me! She knew what was good for her... smart gal...

we will have to keep checking in on each other for sure! I am glad to have a date buddy.

My father is coming in from out of town (he is coming in from cali) to help babysit me for the first week too!!! He gets here saturday and leaves the following sunday! I don't know if thats any better- i have a wonderful roomate who can't get much time off of work that week-

We sound like the same people almost lol- I too have been doing as much outside (wish i could say poolside! i am jealous!!) and everyone is yelling at me for doing to much and i just yell back in a few days i won't be able to do anything so enjoy it while i can! lol Like yesterday i mowed the lawn (mostly  because its supposed to rain all week) and i am paying for it today- oh god i am hurting!!
As for work my boss is freaking out! She says you can be back in a week right i just laugh and hobble away!
My original surgery date was may 17th- but they moved me to monday- I am sure glad that the lady who tried to reschedule you opted not to! It is very very very frustrating! How long do they expect you to be out of work- My DR said anticipate 3 months. I think its 6 wks off then 6 wks of half days- but who knows i think its more of a play it by ear but here was a guesstimate! lol
This website is a godsend i tell ya!! I just hope we are as lucky as Doublemom (andi) her recovery has seemed to be heaven sent!!

I also feel like I am probably overdoing it... but the thinking is "how much more damage can I do now?" and "they're fixing it soon anyway!" which is gross right?

Your surgery sounds like a major one. I am just having a patellar drilling and scope, so I am to be out for 1 week and then the second week part-time 4 hrs/day... but I am afraid there is some more stuff going on in the knee and that recovery will take longer! We'll see, hope I don't have to take too much time off. Just got an email from my husband that he accepted an invite to my in-laws on saturday... so there goes my house-cleaning day... I could strangle him

Pattelar drilling?!? Eeek sounds painful... I am having the Fulkerson and a scope-

Honestly your thoughts are the same as mine- they are going to fix it so i might as well get done what i want/need!

Make sure you tell the dr what you do and don't want done- like if they are in there and see that they can also fix XYZ let them know if your comfy with it- i told the DR i don't care what it wrong fix it! lol

Oh he robbed you of your house cleaning day- thats not good!!
What time is your surgery scheduled for on Monday?
If its easier and/or if you want to email me my email address is

Hi there,

Just wanted to wish you all the best on Monday.

Hope the surgery goes well and your recovery too.

I am about 4 months post-op from a chrondroplasty and trochleoplasty. Still very early in my recovery. I am starting pilates next week.

Hi Theresa,

Thanks, am very excited about starting pilates. The gym was too much for me so my OS recommended we try pilates twice a week together with one hydro session. Hopefully my knee will tolerate it.

I know how those days before surgery are. Can be a bit mental trying to organise everything before you go in to hospital. Don't run yourself ragged will you ?

Hope you have a good weekend before going in to hospital on Monday.

The hydro sessions will be great- And yeah just don't push it- if your knee is screaming to stop don't just think your being a baby- thats what i have to tell myself anyways!

Mentally i am ok with the surgery i am not worried or nervous- but you are right about running myself ragged- supposed to do a garage sale fri and sat then a fest sat night and sunday i am having a bbq- and this sounds horrible- but i hope it rains because then i don't have to do the garage sales or go to the fest! I almost want to just relax but highly unlikely that, that will happen!!

Thank you and have a great weekend too! Good luck again with Pilates!!

Hi Theresa,

Sounds like one hectic weekend. Don't blame you about it raining. Hopefully it does for your sake. At least you won't be able to think about the surgery too much.

I won't be doing much on the weekend as I've had another migraine today. Spoke with my doctor today and just wants me to rest and not do much.

Will be thinking of you on Monday.

Have a good weekend.

Hi Silk

This weekend is going to be hectic but its looking like rain  :D which is good and bad... would love to do the sale but just don't want to!
I got my recliner yesterday set up teh tv and dvr in my "recovery room" And now all i want to do is lay around in there- we painted it 2 weeks ago its looking real nice!!
And your right staying busy has kept my mind off the surgery- which is good- but i am not really nervous so its ok either way-

I hope you are feeling better and Migraine free today! And yes i concur with the Dr rest up!!!

Have a great weekend hope its stress and migraine free!!
