Fall on both knee replacements
« on: May 20, 2010, 03:53:05 AM »
Last week I tripped and landed on one knee replacement and then the other one hit.  It was on my concrete basement floor.  They feel like they did when I first got them four years ago.  Just tight and not good at all.  My left one is a little swollen and walking is hard.   I went to my os and he xrayed them and said they looked okay.  I just can't help feeling that my left one really took a hit and just doesn't feel right.  Like something is out of place with it.  Maybe I'm over reacting.  I'm 54 and got my knee replacements at 50.  I would like them to last as long as possible.  Is there a possibility of damage that would not show up on an x-ray?  Just wondering if anyone has had this experience.  It is unsettling to say the least.

I can't answer your question Mitidai but it sounds really painful.   :'(  Are you icing them again, that's the only suggestion I can make.  I do hope you haven't done any serious damage and that you recover quickly.  Keep us posted; it's a huge reminder to us all to take care.

I fell on a concrete floor and landed on the tibia part of the implant.   Hurt like I got hit with a frying pan.
I was at work and the doctor sent me for xrays..   They were fine but..  knee was tender.. for a few days.  Your soft tissue could be bruised.. but the implant is safe..  if the xray does not show anything weird.

If the pain worsens and lingers for more than 2 weeks.. call the doctor back.. maybe you have something else other than the implant going on .

Thanks for your replies.  My knees are feeling somewhat better today.  Not fun to fall on.  Everybody be careful.  They really hurt when you fall.
