Looking for advice after having tkr 5-6 months ago
« on: November 01, 2009, 10:02:30 pm »

Hi there. New to this site and looking for some help! I had a rotary TKR done on the 5/6/09 and since then have had nothing but problems. Don't want to bore you with complications I had at first as I seem to be getting over them slowly. What bothers me the most is the pain I get at night and the severe clunking I get. Been to see 3 doc's now and have all come up with 3 different explanations. One said was due to patella being worn, the other said due to several factors and would settle down in time and the third and doc who did op said all ok!! The clunking which I never had at first is not just a slight clunk, when I bend the knee its like I have a bag of spanners left in there all rattling around. One doc said it was due to the type of tkr I had fitted. I have since developed pain at night which keeps waking me up. I,ve worked very hard on getting my knee moving again and was only off work 6 weeks so I,m no whimp, especially this being my 14 opertaion I know what pain to expect. I am 43 this month and up until I had my knee replaced was pretty active considering the pain I was suffering. Feel like my mobility is a thing of the past now but I,m not going to give up on getting to the bottom of this. Had a bone scan done on Thursday waiting for results. I am going to contact the manufacture of the knee replacement to see what they have to say about the clunking. Hope someone can give me some pointers.

Many thanks for taking time to read this post
