What to do-Knee pain after kicking a soccer ball
«

I had PFR October 2005 (on both knees). Yesterday my son and I went outside to kick a soccer ball around. I was standing in one place and kicked the ball. Since then I am feeling tightness and pain in my knee (right knee only). I have iced the knee. Anybody experienced this? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mr.F

Hi Mr. F.
I had a PKR in Sept.08. I find that anything (including a kick) that jars my leg when I do it will make my new knee hurt a bit for a few days. If yours doesn't improve in a few days, I would make a call to your ortho office.

think you will find that sports that involve kicking balls are not reccommended for 'new knees' as you do not have a solid point of contact for your foot as you would if you were putting your foot on the ground - you could well have overstretched a tendon/muscle somewhere - I would RICE and if no better after a couple of weeks go see a doc.

Thank you for your advice. I have been icing the knee. I hope I will not need to go to the Ortho.

Its been several days of icing the knee, some simple exercise, a brace and a cane and I am finally feeling better. I have no idea what I did and what happened, but the pain is going away. (Yeah no going to the doctor).
