Back of the knee
« on: September 22, 2003, 04:27:47 PM »
Hi I hope that the people out there can help me in some way no matter how small or insignificant the advive will be.

I recently had and ACL reconstruction where thay used my hamstring to replace the ACL and mensc. cartlidge removal on the 4th July 2003, then four weeks later the knee became infected and i had to have a septic washout and am still currently taking medication for the infection.

The main problem is that fair enough there is still some swelling there but is that interfering and causing pain as in the back of the knee there is still some sharp pains as i walk and cycling it doesnt seem to be going away for any long periods of time. Is something going wrong with my rehab or is this a new problem?

Please offer help, advice or suggestions

Thank you :-/

Tower- I first welcome you to the board and I hope that you can get your concerns addressed. Ive never had an ACL or infection problem, but I know that there are people on here that have, and I hope that you can get some answers. Good luck with your recovery.

HI Tower

I had ACL recon in April and my knee still hurts most if the time.  You are in relatively early days and you are bound to have a sore knee still, esp with your subsequent infection.

I too had a sore back of the knee, and when I told my physio he identified it as a hamstring problem and showed me exercises to help this.  I would't worry at the moment but talk to your PT or OS and get some reassurance.

I hope this all goes well for you.  ;)
