Papa you always know the right things to say, you just put a smile on my face that has been absent for a week now. Thank you. I really get what youre saying, instant gratification isnt in the cards for us. My husband said hes gonna pamper me this weekend, on the couch elevation ice, Im not to get up except to use the bathroom. Maybe thats what will get me over this hump
. I hate that you were hurting last night/this morning, surely your company will understand tonight. One day soon we will look back at this and say, what a piece of cake that PKR was, lol.
Love

Hey Michele! I was pretty far behind on your thread, and I did a quick scan through, so I may have missed something. BUT as far as being back at work and hurting.... I went back to work 2 weeks out. Sawbones told me that if I was swelling, I was doing too much and to slow down. Well, being kinda headstrong, I just found ways not to swell (which also meant less pain). On a long work weekend (60-hr ER shift), I decided to go back to one crutch. It worked great. Made all the difference in the world. Maybe that would make your work easier. I did go back to half days, though, after I reallized what a toll whole days took on me -- not just my knee, but I was so TIRED!
Thinking of you Chica! Hope this helps. Don't hurt yourself!!!

Hi Stan,
Sorry the knee is being such a PITA. I know that feeling all too well, up too early, wishing for nap time and a polar pack by noon. Knee issues are a mind game. In my book there's no tarnish on your heroism. You're pushing through, despite it all. That's tough to do when you know that at some point down the road you will have to pay the piper.
After the mfx, it took a good four months for the episodes of daily swelling to subside along with the random shooting, take your breath away pains. Sleeping never lasted long cuz I couldn't find a way to put the knee to make it stop hurting and pushing the leg against the bedcovers would make you sit up and take notice. It does get better. At least it did for me. Now I have the opposite problem, the knee rarely wakes me up, it's being up and on it that makes it hurt. I had to take Steph out to buy some dress clothes yesterday as she was just hired at a local bank. Yeh for the respite for the bank of mom. Boo, for the trek around the mall. By the time I got to the drug store to pick up a script the pharmacist asked if I had suffered a recent injury because she noticed the gimp. All this time I thought my PT guy was the only one who thought I walked funny LOL.

Hi everybody,
It's 5am. I've been up for an hour. Lotsa coffee until I leave for golf at 8.lol
Michele,I hope your hubby is taking care of you this weekend like your post said. Plus he's storing up points for when your all better.(Us guys think that way!). The company was great. My 29yr old neice and kids came over. We haven,t seen her since she was 15. It's a long story about a really bad childhood, both when I was a kid and then when she was a kid. She found us on FB. It was great to fill her in on her childhood and to give her back family to boot. We will never let her go again.
Sue, thanks for the concern. Like everyone else, I've been paying the piper in one form or another for many years. Is there some kind of "life's easy pass" we can attach to ourselves to make going through the piper's toll booth quicker? Oh well, just wishful thinking. Walking on concrete in a mall is very tough on the knees. There isn't any cushion to it. Your knees have to absorb the shock. Oww! It's good to hear that Steph got a job. I quess that you will still be giving her "no interest" short term loans till payday kinda things! Ahh, the things us parental loan companies have to endure. lol
Have a great day,
Stan

Ok, it's 3:30 am here nd Ive been up for an hour and a half already. I guess I've used up my daily allotment of sleep. But I managed to sleep from 8 pm til 2 am. Not bad given my track record and at least I woke up with nothing hurting. I'll take that.
The weather was beautiful yesterday. I managed to get out and finish Birthday shopping for our oldest daughter, Kate who turned 22 yesterday. In December, Kate and her boyfriend Jake, moved into a brand new colonial that his parents helped them build. His dad owns a local excavation company, so they bartered alot of the work. The one thing missing was wall decor so my mission was to get some things for the dining room walls and I did pretty well. They both liked the things I chose and now hubby and I will head over after dinner tonight and get them hung up. We took them out to dinner and had invited Jake's parents and sister as well. His dad and sister joined us, but his mom had gone hiking on Mount Washington and wasn't back yet. Just as we were leaving the restaurant Jake's dad got a call that his mom had blown out her knee on the way down the mountain. The knee wouldn't stay in place and they had manufactured a splint from some branches and a bunch of ace bandages. They said that they were still at least an hour or two from the trailhead and she refused to call for rescue and was determined to make it down on her own even though it was getting dark. So he and his daughter jumped in the car and were going to make the 2 hour drive to meet them at the trailhead.
I guess I'll have to wait until the news comes on this morning to see if she managed to make it the rest of the way down on her own . I feel bad for her, we all know too well that knee problems su....k.
Beyond that it was a quiet day, just what I needed after the insanity of last week. I'm in the claims end of property and casualy insurance and generally handle the more difficult files. Last week I ended up with a claim from our New Jersey office involving theft of intellectual property and patent infringement. I asked why the NJ office wasn't handling it and the response was that they didn't know what to do with it. Go figure, like I have any knowledge about patent law. After reading the 75 page summons and complaint and having the basic facts sorted out in my head I went on a search for an atty who does patent work. I couldn't find anyone among the atty's that I deal with and so for the moment I'm dealing with the insured's patent atty in Cherry Hill, NJ. Next project for this morning is a claim involving a Excavator fire.Variety is the spice of life I guess. That is also a claim that was originally handled by another adjuster and ended up in my lap when she got overwhelmed by it. Somewherein there I will be filling in for the manager who is on vacation this week. Gotta love that. LOL.
Have a good day,
Sue

How awful for Jake's mom, blowing out a knee on a mountain! I can't imagine the pain she must have been in. You'll have to invite her to our cozy little group!
Sleep seems to be a precious commodity for everyone right now. If I can get at least 4 hours of solid sleep I am good to go. I don't have to be back at work until Aug. 17, so count me lucky that I will be totally recovered by then.

Hey yall, Ive been so tired after work I havent really felt like doing anything. Work is geting a little better I mean a LITTLE. I am using my cane except when Im pushing the med cart. I have been trying to sit a little more. I feel like half days would be better for me but unfortunatley its not in the cards, because of the type of work I do plus I would feel as though Im letting them down. Thanks for all yalls support it mean the world to me it really does. The swelling is a big problem but getting off of it when I get home and strapping on the PolarCare brings it down pretty quickly. On the up side Im sleeping good, seems like I am able to get comfortable alot easier. Im sleeping with the PolarCare on too. Well Ill check yall later...................
PEACE & LOVE

Hey Michele, Improvements, however slight, are improvements nonethe less. Just be as good to yourself as you can.
Pat, I can't even imagine having something like what happened to Jakes mom occur on a hiking trail. When they first called they said it would take them about an hour to reach the trail head. Her husband headed up immediately and got there in a little over 2 hours and they didn't make it out until 20 minutes after he arrived. That would make it around 9 pm and totally dark, it's bad enough to be hobbling, but hobbling when you can't see where you're stepping is another adventure altogether. She couldn't get into the OS until this morning so we still don't know exactly what's wrong. I should see her tomorrow and will invite her to join our little group.
BTW I'm glad that you still have some recovery time before you have to go back to work. At least that helps in the stress department.

Hi Michele,
Yeh, no doubt about it. This rehab is a long one. I can empathize with that. I dropped the pain meds at the end of day 4, but somedays I have to take something. Ice, ice and more ice. Swelling + inflamation= pain.

Hi Michele,
I'm so glad your back. I was worried about you, kiddo. As far as the swelling, if it's similar to mine, one day it just seems to be dramatically less. I hope it's the same for you. Going down steps were the hardest part. Up wasn't too bad. Just keep trying and your knee will strenghten and stretch out. I know the worn out part. I'm still tired at the end of the day. Usually fall asleep watching the opening credits of a tv show at 8pm.
Thanks for the update,
Stan

Hi Michele,
YOu probably didn't hurt the implant but I bet you didn't do the surrounding tissues any favor. Get it checked. Better safe than sorry and it cuts down on the worry.
This healing thing is one SLOW process!!!
