Post knee sprain problems
« on: July 07, 2009, 02:18:33 AM »
I sprained my right knee back in January and it just started feeling 100% pain free the in the last month and a half, so I started exercising with free weights and taking it very easy on my lower body. I did some light squats with a 15LB barbell and felt the normal muscle pain in both legs the next day. However, it has now been 4 days since I exercised and I have had a cramp going from mid-calf to my glute (only on the right side...the left feels just fine). I am having a really hard time walking and straightening my leg, it feels better bent and I have to walk on my tip-toes on this leg. It feels like a really bad charley horse...I tried stretching it, icing it, and I have been taking my potassium and magnesium...anyone have some words of wisdom for me? I really hope it doesn't last much longer!

Wear a knee brace and don't bend it whatsoever!!!!  This could help it.  If you bend it, it will never heal.  Apply ice for 20 minutes and off for 30 minutes for about 3 hours or more and do this everyday.  Good Luck! do not use heat at all.
