ATTN Captain Russ!!! RE INFO on ASTYM.....
« on: March 02, 2012, 03:45:17 AM »
I made a mistake.....I located the info that Dr. Sevier wrote re Astym on here.   He goes by the name of SportsMD and he posted numerous information on both Astym and Graston on pages 2 and 3 of the the Topic: "Is ASTYM available in the UK/Europe?"
In the upper left corner where it says Search the bulletin board only type SportsMD or the Topic name and you'll find specific info.  And be sure you go to the Astym site on the internet.

Star,

Thank you.  I am on it.  So if they are ASTYM but not SportsMD I should avoid them and look for SpotsMD?

I know SportsMD (Dr. Sevier) wrote rather extensively re the difference between Graston and Astym.  He provided a lot of info re Astym and how it differs in healing your tissue.  Definitely read all his posts.

Star,

I am waiting on the ASTYM PT clinic near my house to call me back.  I am not sure if it will work on my because (despite the moderator not giving me credit or millions of dollars) I found the cure to AF on my very own.  My limited brain has done what no doctor has accomplished in the history of man/woman or monkey!!!

My body is growing HO (heterotropic ossification) which is basically bone in the soft tissue.  It must be more prevalent than the AF, as it is commanding the spaces between my muscles, scar tissue, and capsules.  My body has self healed this massive case of AF!!  The only problem is I now wish I had the AF back as the HO is much more painful than the AF and tougher to get rid of.  It is like stepping on jagged bone pushing into the muscle and scar tissue every time I weight bear.

I must wait until it finishes growing (at the rate mine is won't take long) stated to be up to 2 years.  The OS can then cut it out and irradiate me until I glow in the dark and hopefully stop if from returning.  I asked yesterday if this means the AF will return to take its place.

All joking aside (I have been accused of being too morbid and a real harsh on some KG's mellows) I am going to give the ASTYM a try and see what happens.  Thanks for your help on this idea!

Russ, It's amazing how our bodies respond to these off the wall/rare problems!  My pain is so much better.....it just seemed that after 3 series of 10 with improvement, I kept getting better.  Finally over my bad infection (sinus, throat, fever, GI, etc) and will resume my home pt and use the table my PT sold me.  So we'll see!  While I have some pain, it's so minor compared to what it was!  Every few months is a completely different story!  I just hope I keep improving!  ...... I hope that you will finally settle down and end up feeling much better!  I think the doctors are mystified but I feel like a guineau pig as well......no telling how I'll respond.  So far, so good!

Star,

I really feel that is the key to surviving.....having hope that we are improving.  I finally convinced my OS to prescribe ASTYM despite his total lack of knowledge on the subject.  He claims to have no knowledge of the procedure and is hesitant to have me try it.  I am sent him information on it but I wonder if he has taken a few minutes to read it.  I am frustrated at the fact that if they do not come up with the idea., the feel it is ineffective.  He is hesitant to prescribe deep tissue massage and accupuncture.  I am amazed at his not wanting to push this as anything that MAY help must be a good ideal.

I became angry and asked if he  thought there were complications from any of these ideas.  If they don't perform the procedure and make the money, he is not inclined to let em do it.I am trying to find another back doctor as his pharmacy called complaining I was asking to fill scriipts from my OS.
