Hello everyone, I have just returned from the hospital where I was suppose to have OATS. My defect is MFC and was 2cm x .5cm 8 months ago, and now its 4cm x 2cm MFC and when my OS got in there she said the damage was too extensive for OATS and she wasnt able to find a donor site due to the damage. All she did was debridment. She has refered me to another OS who performs ACI. She said I needed ACI or PKR. Ive been doing a lot of research on ACI, and from what I got the success rate is about the same as OATS. Upon looking at the pics from my scope she has marked several pics as follows:MFC grade 4, unstable peripheral flaps MFC, grade 2 medial plateau, grade 2 thinning posterior MFC, grade 3 , 4, and 2+ posteriorly, grade 4 medial and lateral trochlea ridge. Now I dont know buy that sure seems like an awful lot wrong for ACI to even be considered. I mean can the defects other than the MFC even be fixed with or without ACI? I hope one of you fellowkneegeeks can help me out here and help me understand this better. I am really upset that OATS wasnt attempted. I was so looking forward to the next chapter to begin. My quality of life sucks right now, my pain level is severe, and I just want to get better.
Thank You,
Michele
