That is great news! When your legs look relatively the same, I am sure that means your muscles are really getting to the point where they will function like the used to; like the good leg. Yeah, the stairs are a bit intimidating to me too, as that is where I hurt myself. For now, until I am stronger, I am using the elevators at work. At home, I take the four steps into my house one at a time. I am sure with time and patience, I will get back to normal stairclimbing. Going down them is what scares me the most too. I don't think I will attempt going down then foot-over-foot until my extension lag is gone. Better safe than sorry, I always say!
Yeah a few beers might even be a good thing, too. It will help you not to be so tense about your knee, but you'll still be in good control, just happier and more relaxed, which could be helpful even. :-) Have a great time! I love hockey, and want to hear the highlights when you have a chance!
Take care,
Sarah

The highlights better include UNH kicking Dartmouth all over the ice, I can tell you that. We are long time season ticket holders (and alumni) and UNH is curerrently ranked 5th in the country. However, they play Dartmouth in Manchester, NH every year and no matter the ranking the Big Green give them a tough time. Looking forward to a good time, though, and will have a full report Sunday morning.

Well, the time out with friends was great, the game was not. UNH dropped by a 5-3 score, despte outshooting Dartmouth 55-26 or something like that. The sidewalks in Manchester were awful, partially plowed but covered in ice. I ended up walking on the road as I figured the chances of getting hit by a car were less than slipping on the ice.

Hey there,
Sorry to hear the game was not good and that there was ice, but glad to hear you had fun with your friends anyway and you made it home without falling on ice, which is always a good thing!
I woke up this morning with a nasty head cold, so I am lying around on the sofa all day today watching TV. Argh.
Anyway, back to resting for now.
Take care!

Been a couple weeks since my last post, as not much new was going on. But tomorrow marks 7-weeks post op. and PT continues to go well. Doing the bike, walking backward on the treadmill, stairmaster, leg press and all the other good stuff. Added some ladder work today, which was a pleasant surprise. It was right at the end so I was pretty tired but think I did pretty well at going through it forward and sideways. Did one that involved hopping and turning in air, which made me a bit dizzy (not sure if it was due to being tired after having my butt kicked on the stairmaster or just the quarter spin as I was in the air) so cut that one set short (I had been doing 4-sets of each exercise).
As I have said before, my place does an 8-week or so session and then gives you a month off before returning for more agility focused stuff. I get evaluated for that next week so we will see how that goes. I like going and doing the exercises but wouldn't mind taking a break, so we will see.
On the fun side, UNH hockey managed to sweep two games from BU last weekend and is sitting atop Hockey East, and in good shape in the national rankings. No home games for a few weeks, sadly.
Hope everyone is well out there.

Hey BigStein,
How are you? I hope you are doing well! Are you enjoying your break from PT or has that not started yet? Perhaps I am off by a week and it starts next week? What is ladder work? I am envious of your hopping and the stair machine! Very, very cool! Keep it up! You'll be back to normal in no time at all!
I assume that you watched the big game last night.
Did you root for the Patriots since you are from New England? Just curious.
I hope you are having a great day! Take care.

Sarah,
Just got the go ahead to take the next month off from PT and do work on my own, so am glad of that. Still have to put in the work daily but it will make it easier on my schedule as I have had to rely on a neighbor to watch my older son after school while I have been doing PT. It will be nice for both of us to have the break.
The ladder is pretty much as it sounds, looks like a ladder laid on the ground, but thinner with plastic rungs and nylon cords connecting them together (link to example of one I bought off ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220198843245&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr4_PcY_BIN_IT&refitem=220197908074&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget
They help with regaining speed and agility and certainly make wokouts more fun and interesting.
The Patriots, not a fan. I am a Steeler fan myself, loved them in the 70's when I was a kid. And since I am a Yankee fan I figured I would root for the Giants in this one. Fun game, though.
Hope all is well with you as well.

Hello,
I have been sort of MIA lately. I lost one of my fur-babies in an extremely tragic accident on Saturday morning. I am not in good shape right now and will not be okay for a very long time. She is like a daughter to me and I am in so much pain.
Rest in peace, my darling angel Lucky cat. We love you so much, buddy cat. See you at the Rainbow Bridge. You have a heart of gold and are an amazing furry person. I cannot wait to see you again. Lots of love to you.
BigStein and Brian, I hope you are doing well. Take care.
