Hi faye,
so whats the story with the neurology appointment - are they just keeping an eye on you or are they going to do anything?
1986 - recurrent dislocations of right patella began
1988 - Modified Hauser Procedure
1991 - dislocations started again
2005 to 2007 - 150 dislocations in 2 years - OUCH!!!
June 2007 - new OS, new physio
Oct 2007 - VMO woke up
Mar 2008 - big quads, still dislocating

I dont know until friday, i should imagine just keep a eye on me... I hope they dont talk about surgery on my back again..

Im just back from physio and I have to go back into the hydro pool, i hated it last time, but my knee is coming on a bit now..you know youve been going to physio too long when the receptionist says go straight down faye..

I mentioned to her about my other knee as well, and she said God no, we cant start with that knee.

How is your knee now?

well fingers crossed theyre just keeping an eye on you - have you had any symptoms to do with that since they diagnosed it that time?

LOL - you definitely know they know you too well when they just act like youre part of the furniture!!!

Mention the other knee to the OS, he is the one to make the decisions. He might want to leave it a while yet til the first one improves too though. See what he says.

Yeah my knee is doing great. I mean it doesnt feel like a totally normal knee yet, but its so much better. I still get twinges of pain and its achey sometimes and looks a bit puffy if Ive been on my feet a long time etc... But all that seems to be lessening with time so its very close to normal compared to before the meniscus fix.

I have weakness in my left side and tingling and numbness, but not 24/7...

It was so funny yesterday when the recepionist said that coz i was 3rd in the line, felt like I was pushing in...

I will mention it to the OS, I see him on the 11th of this month, im sure he will just want to keep a eye on it, but could be that he will scope it coz the condtition my other knee was in by the he went in..

Really pleased your knee is doing great, you must be so relieved, to finally of got to the bottom of your knee troubles.

I hope they can either sort out the left side weakness and tingling or else that it just clears up itself. Is it painful?

My physio uses me as a benchmark for the lazy people at this stage - 'look at this girl, she has been fighting for 3 years doing her exercises' :)

Yeah just see what he says, he might even want to MRI it or something, so long as he is kept informed thats the main thing.

I cant quite believe that my knee problems were just from torn meniscus though. I was at my GP there for hayfever medicine and she was asking about my knee and she was amazed thats all it turned out to be.

I dont think he will do a MRI scan, with the last one missing all the arthritis in my knee and everything.

My lower back hurts too, this isnt from my knee...the tingling and whatever isnt painful, just so damm annoying.

is that all your knee problems was, a torn meniscus??? its crazy that it wasnt picked up before.

you must feel honoured that your used as a benchmark, but should you of had to of done exercises for the last 3 years if it was picked up then?

Hi Faye,
well tell them on friday about your lower back hurting too and see what they say.

no maybe he wont, but its just important that he knows whats going on i suppose. and seeing as he was able to say to you it was lucky he did something with your first knee i think he will be listening to you this time.

the meniscus tear did show on the mri but it showed as a vertical tear not as a bucket handle tear - so the original OS ignored it, but meniscus tears can lay flat on mri's so he should have known that.

nope - i wouldnt have had to do all that if they fixed me sooner - in some ways it was a waste but in other ways it probably helped me not get much worse.

I will tell the neurologist tomorrow about the back pain...but i feel if i tell them they might wanna investigate further. And spine surgery is the last thing I want.

I will definatley tell my OS next thursay about my right knee.

Its suprising how many incompentent OSs there are about, isnt it?

Hi Faye,

My other knee is better in terms of it not buckling as much but it's really painful and is still coming out.

Good to hear that your operated knee is improving. I have fingers crossed for you. It will be interesting to see what the surgeon says on Thursday.

Ive been sick again today, I hope Im not starting that again, cant go back in hospital

How are you both? congratulations kirsty on finding somewhere to live
