Hi Joanne
Thinking of you today. Hope all goes well at your appointment. Please let us know how you made out.
I hate to say this, but at this point I think the best option would actually be for the new OS to scope your knee to see once and for all what is going on with it. It just sounds like there is more than meets the eye there (which I know you already know).
A cryocuff is a great little icing machine. It is basically a small cooler with a cuff (similar looking to a blood pressure cuff) that wraps around your knee. The cooler is filled with ice and water, and it circulates through the cuff, thus, around the knee. I have had one after all of my surgeries and I love it. I actually have one in my closet, a gift from my OS.
I feel so bad for you. I am sorry that you are going through all of this. Please know that I am here for you.
Things are status quo for me. I have joined Weight Watchers to lose the weight to prepare for the inevitable surgeries on my left and right knees. I have lost 19 lbs. so far. I had a series of Euflexxa injections in the right knee that it seems to this point have not worked. Unfortunately, I think I am facing a scope of the right knee soon. If things have not improved in the next two weeks, I am to call my OS and setup the appointment. He will probably just do a diagnostic arthroscopy and clean out, not the realignment surgery as of yet.
Besides the OA in the knees, I have also recently been diagnosed with OA in the SI Joints, and went for the x-ray on the right hip to see if that is also OA. I have been having a lot of problems with the right hand also. Now my Phys. Med and Rehab doc is thinking I may have RA. So, back for more bloodwork.
So, to say the least, things stay interesting around here.
I am off today so I will try and pop on line a little later. Maybe I will be able to catch you on line. I hope everything goes well, and no matter what happens, we are all here for you.
Take care,
Kat

Kat
First of all well done on the 19lbs - no mean achievement. Thats a great effort and will hopefully stand you in good stead. Keep up the good work
I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis, I annoyed my SI joint last year so have a taste of your discomfort and I hope they can offer some treatment for you. It not fair. I hope the knee improves but you were bang on the mark with me.
My OS said my knee should have done the opposite to what has happened after the injection and aspiration. He asked me do I have sensitive skin, eczema, dermatitis , asthma etc and I said no to all of the above. He said my knee is now hypersensitive as it is unhappy and whatever we do now could cause a real reaction. If it will do that with steroids it will kick off with anything now. He said he thinks the next step is to scope the knee, clean it out , have a look round and see if the synovial lining will settle down as that is the least of what is inflammed. He also said he expects the knee to react to this but hopes it will settle down after for me to make an improvement. He will put me on pain management straight away in the hope we can get on top of it this time.
I so like this OS, his attitude is completely different and he is trying to help.
So surgery number 2 on 22nd August.
Thanks so much Kat, you are great and I am here for you too ! We will get through this
Thinking of you today !

Hi Joanne,
Sorry that you're going to have to go through another surgery, but it's great that this OS is listening and doing everything he can to help. It's obvious you're feeling much more hopeful and relieved. Good move going to see this guy. What does he have you doing to control the inflammation until the surgery?

Hi Joanne,
I am sorry to hear that you need to have the knee scoped again. I am so happy that you like your new OS, and he really sounds like he is on the ball and looking out for your best interest.
It almost sounds like you had an allergic reaction to the cortisone injection. I do hope it calms down before your surgery and that once this procedure is done things go smoothly and you get back on track.
I am here for you! I will check in with you everyday and give you all the support you need.
Hope to talk to you soon, and I hope to catch you online one day so we can chat.
Take Care and {{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}

Thanks for all the support, I know someone who had surgery done by him and their rehab was so quick, he has a great reputation and the bonus part is he is very cute
Not that its important, but it helps when someone is giving you steroid injections. Most importantly he takes a personal interest in what your clinical state is and the fact I have 2 young kids and can't go on like this. When the physio told him I was in discomfort after the injection he said he wanted to see me and came in early so I could be added to the start of his clinic list. He knows my PT which I think helps as he values my PTs judgement and so I think that makes a huge difference.
So I am nervous but hopeful this will be it this time
Your support is very much appreciated and I am sorry I missed you online tonight Kat, hope we will catch up some time.

I am sorry to hear you have to go thru another surgery but hopeful this will finally take care of your knee journey. You are due for a break. You have endured a lot. I am thrilled you like your OS. That will make a huge difference.
Stay Strong!!! You are a fighter.

Thanks for all the support. I wasn't well over the weekend so ironically 2 days in bed has helped a little to bring the swelling down, so today I am back on my feet so I will see what that brings.
How are you all doing
?

swelling up a bit again and counting down to next Wednesday. I struggle to lock my leg straight when walking and when I do it clicks or catches and I sometimes get a sharp pain to the outside of my knee cap underneath - if that makes sense.
Do you think this is the knee cap catching

Nervous but most nervous about him telling me afterwards that all looked ok and I have to live with this....thats my big fear. I would rather he find the problem and w elook to fix it than see nothing if you know what I mean.
However only a few more days to go.........butterlies starting in my tummy !
How are you doing ?

I am optomistic. I do not think he will go in there and find out he can't help. There is no way you will be told you just have to live like this forever.
At least you will know exactly whats up very soon. Try and have some fun this weekend,

Hey you
I have had the roids injected and they definatley increased my pain afterwhis but iards. I did not get any relief from them and personally will not do them again. I have tried them 3 different times the injections were excrutiating and I saw no benefits from them. Sorry, don't mean to be negative they just don'[t work for me. I also have found I am more sore after being aspirated. This was temporary and only lasted a few days. I hope you are better soon. What day did you get all this done? Theres no reason not to call your OS if you are concerned. She seems like a good MD and I am sure would walk you thru this. I am sure you are already doing this but ice, ice, ice and elevate. Good Luck sorry it is being so stubborn darn knees!!!
