Linney, it appears shopping cures all the pains of the body.
Is that some kind of aroma therapy? the smells of a mall .. ahhh.
Great to hear you are making progress again. HUGS, Ron

4 weeks post op... almost.. it will be tomorrow.
Things are going well... i'm attempting my first walk to and from teh barn this afternoon... that will be about 1k each way. My flexion is still sticky.. but i'm working hard on it.. with some GREAt advice from Jaci here on teh board. Extension is good, walking is good... and my muscles are slowly starting to wake up.. again with some great advice from Jaci!
So I think things are really coming. NOw i'm taking care of my horse who has done something to his back leg so i'm cold hosing, massaging and wrapping and bandaging and poulticing... eesh.. Guess my knee has to get better!!! Thanks for all the encouragment

Well it's been 11 days since I last posted. Things are going pretty well. I am walking to the barn atleast once a day... I had a bit of a set back about 5 days ago there, and for whatever reason my knee got really painful and then felt really strange for a few days. But it seems to have settled now again. Though I discovered i've lost a bit of extension and still don't have full flexion quite yet, so i'm going to have to pick it up with my physio exercises again. Obviously being able to walk has greatly helped my quad strength. I can't believe that for more than a year I could barely walk anywhere.. limping so badly and now although my knee still has it's problems... it's like it never happened... hoping everything keeps moving forward.

Well it's now August 24th. More than six weeks since my surgery. I went for my FIRST riding lesson yesterday in 15 months!!! It was so freeing, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. My knee feels fine today, a little grindy maybe.. but not painful. It only got a bit sore while I was riding and i'd just take a break and walk for a few minutes.
I LOVE MY OS, I can't believe how long I waited to get something done.. with my other OS, and then here I am only 6 weeks post op.. doing what I love.
Thanks for all the support, hopef everything just keeps improving.

Linney, what a wonderful posting to read !!! Now being the ever careful older brother type, you know I'm going to say take it easy and build up a little each time. Were you riding Firecat ?
I hope you are able to walk as normal as possible. I hope you are careful not to be doing daring things on the horse so early on. Heed your OS's advice young lady!
Again, it's the best post I can remember of yours in the last 3 years.

Thanks guys for your posts...
Ron, I was just doing walking, trot, canter.. no jumping or anything risky. It wasn't on Firecat, unfortunately he's been injured and we aren't sure if he'll ever come sound again.
but we'll see... one of the people I used to work for was judging our local exhibition this week and he said if it's a bone bruise it could take longer to heal so not to jump the gun just yet and write him off.
This week was our local exhibition I was ring steward as well as a director at large. I've been on my feet and running around... notice the lack of qoutations around that because I actually have been running around. I can't believe how good my knee feels. My muscle has definately returned quickly after not being able to gain any with physiotherapy pre op. Just goes to show you that sometimes the smallest of things can make a huge difference good and bad. I can't believe it all went on so long when what was required to get me back on the go was in the scheme of things so simple.
Of course, my knees still hurt ... cause of my kneecap problems, but I am not limping anymore and the swelling is gone.
I could just sing from the hill tops.
Thanks everyone

Cue Julie Andrews and the Von Trapp family... The hills are alive with the sound of ..Linney running through the fields...
A long ongoing problem solved.
Now that is a video you should post. Running in the fields.
Hope you get to the knee caps soon. Now that you have someone you can trust to do the job right! Ron

Well it's now been about 12.5 weeks since my knee surgery to clean up scar tissue and remove the medial plica. I couldn't be more happy. My knee is still kind of... iffy now and then, and it gets achey and sore if i'm standing on it all day, or bend it the wrong way for too long, but compared to the catching, and awful feelings and pain I had before, i'll take it.
I'm working full time at a store in a town close to us, and so far so good. I did go out and buy myself a pair of black nike Shox to help with the stress on the knees. IT usually gets a bit sore and puffy by the end of the work day, but nothing I can't handle.
So definately no regrets... and I did have second thoughts before going through with this surgery.
Thanks everyone.
