Dr. Steadman on Microfracture procedure and rehab-- the video

Greetings,

I recently came across a video of a presentation on microfracture done by Dr. Steadman at an orthopedics conference last year. In case you don't know, Dr. Steadman developed the procedure and has performed it on over 2500 people. The video is about an hour long and goes through the procedure for articular cartilage lessions from injury or degenerative joint disease (DJD). It's really pretty interesting, especially the section on rehab. At one point Dr. S mentions that he wishes he would have gotten a copyright on the name "microfracture" to mean the combined package of surgery and rehab. He sees far too many cases where a doctor's great surgery is undermined by improper rehab, resulting in a less than favorable outcome for the patient.

  I've had 3 microfractures over the last 4 years on the same knee. I'm interested to see this video but I just cant seem to find it on the site you listed above http://www.orthosupersite.com/ .  Where did you go on that site exactly to see it. Maybe I have been rehabbing this incorrectly.

Hey Rick,

Once you are logged in, scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see an area that says video library.  Click on video library and then go to page three of video library and it will be the first video at the top of page three.

 Thx - I found it. Believe it or not I'm actually a computer systems guy and I couldn't even find it. Maybe I sould offer some suggestions on the design of that sit.

Hey Casey, I just watched that video. GREAT LINK but shoot, that made me hurt all over again. OUCH. My OS pretty much followed his protocol to the letter, that was reasuring.

Oops! I was a little vague about where exactly to find the video titles. I left out the part about going to "video library." Sorry about that.

FYI-- Dr. Steadman also does a presentation on rehab, called "Rehabilitation and Results." I thought it was interesting, too. He discusses his philosophy on rehab, why he does what he does in a certain order, then applies it to recovery from ACL surgery. The basic philosophy is the same for all knee rehab, however the particular activites and time frame in which they are performed varies depending on the type of surgery.

The Steadman microfracture video/slide show was really worthwhile!  thanks for sharing..  yes, it took me several minutes to find it on the website, but it was worth it..    I took the link in to my OS - he was interested in giving it to other patients..   THanks again!
