How much is too much Mobic?
« on: March 14, 2007, 03:13:49 AM »
Hi, my doctor prescribed Mobic 2 times per day for my Lateral mal- tracking patellas (both knees)--causing chondromalacia.  I have been taking it for a week now and am trying to stop....they feel really good.  I skipped one dose today and knees began to hurt a bit-- so I took a pill.  This cycle is making me nervous--- will it be dangerous for my liver and stomach to take Mobic daily for long term?  I feel like my knees are only painfree when I take the Mobic.  How long can I take Mobic for?  Is it dangerous longterm?

Hiya Beth,

Yes, I'd check with your GP as everyone is different. My OS said I could take it as long as I had pain, but with the liver and stomach problems I have, I stopped as soon as I felt this weird prickly feeling in my stomach.

You can try other things like glucosamine, flax seed oil and other natural anti-inflammatories. That's what I use and they work fine without hurting my stomach.

Good luck,

Hi Beth ~ Mobic is a lovely drug so long as it doesn't bother you. I've been taking it off & on for years & I've used it for my dogs. But do take it with food.

Being a senior, I would take it for various aches & pains but I found at the time of knee injury that taking Advil was not only more effective but at least I knew I could take Advil more than twice a day - if I needed it.

I believe the recommended dose is 7.5 - 15 mg daily & divided into two doses is most likely more effective than the once a day I took it.

At any rate there are many websites where you can find pertinent information. Just Google Mobic. Here's one for starters:

Wishing you well...Ellie

Yes mobic does come in a few strengths and is a pretty powerful drug.    At one point my neck was stiff from it.. and another point I believe I got fuzzy vision from it.    Just remember to take it with food.
