Where do you go Skiing??

Forgive me, but right now it's prime skiing time & I have'nt been for 5 long years. To make matters worse I've just been watching a Warren Miller movie on ESPN Classic, my knee is getting stronger each week, & I use to be a ski fanatic. Next year I'm making my comeback!
Anyone got any good skiing stories to share? Where's your favourite place to ski? I've had some great ski weeks over the years, one of my dreams has always been to get all the superb characters I've ever skied with, together in one place at one time. What a party that would be!
The back bowls at Copper Mountain take some beating for me, or tiny La Thuile in Italy after a mighty storm, or skiing down Monte Rosa into Gressoney with a guide, or the time when Mrs RN first skied in Avoriaz in France. Then there was the time when I took an organised group to Bulgaria in 1983, that was an eye-opener back then, & we drunk the hotel dry!!
Feel free to contribute, skiing is such a great sport but an ACL killer.

Places i would like to go snowboarding are Austria, New Zealand, Japan, Mammoth Lake in US, Whistler, Elbrus in Russia and ofcourse, Arctica and Antarctica. Many places, but hopefully can visit atleast few of them.
For me almost each mountain atleast 1000 meters high is impressive, as the biggest mountain in my country is 317 meters and its only about 100 meters from the bottom.

I go to Andorra most years, the resort is called Pas De La Casa, its so much fum there when you go with a group of friends!
As Andorra is not part of the EU, its a tax free country
Which means, cheap cloths and especially cheap booooze!
The skiing its self is not bad at all, especially now they have joined up the 3 different resorts making a very large ski area.
I was due to go this year but then my op came through so I had to cancal...to make things worse, i split up with my girlfriend in september, she found out i couldnt go, so what does she go and do.....she books a weeks skiing in andorra!! BItch! + she has never skiied before......

Okay, my fav. is Snowmass, Big Burn, because if you ski top to bottom, you thighs are quiver burning when you stop. I think I will settle for Buttermilk next year though. Here in Spain the Sierra Nevada (THE ORIGINAL ONES)! La Laguna is a great ride.
Bedders... the nerve...
That's a great idea, we'll have to keep it in mind for next year.

tiny La Thuile in Italy
A wonderful resort. I skied there for several years on the trot (from 2001 to 2005, I think). Our party was quite varied, with good skiers, brave skiers and kids aged only about 4, but the resort has so much variety that we all enjoyed ourselves. In 2006, we didn’t go (due to the imminent arrival of a baby) and then in May last year, I destroyed my ACL. 2007’s skiing hasn’t happened – mostly because of moving house next week and I figured that (a) it would be better to save the cash and (b) I would get into
serious
trouble if I hurt my knee just before we move…………
2008 beckons!

Whistler's a great resort though its gotten much busier lately. I'm from Canada, so have mostly skied in Canada. Big White is a wonderful resort with lots of great snow. My colleagues have just come back from Whistler and say the conditions are really good.
I can't ski this year
but plan to do a trip to Deer Valley next year. I've already got my ideas for the next few years, heli skiing with CMH for a week and a trip to Italy in 2 years. Hopefully my knee will keep up with me
Does anyone have good suggestions for Italy?
I think there should be some sort of meeting up amongst the ACLr's on a ski trip!

The Dolomites in Italy are awesome. We stayed at Val Gardena for a week and I don't think we skied the same run twice.
Other great places:
Kitzbuehle Austria, Courcheval France, Switzerland.
In U.S. Heavenly Valley, Squaw Valley, Kirkwood and of course Mt. Rose since it is 20 minutes from my house and it is where all the locals go.

Just back from
not skiing in Morzine. Avoriaz was simply stunning and Morzine is a great town.
Other places skied:
Andorra Pas de La Casa & Arinsal - cheap, cheerful with well maintained pistes but little charm or character
Austria, St Johann in Tyrol & Scheffau on the Ski Welt, both great places (even though Scheffau cost me my ACL) but low so suffering this year.
Switzerland, Veysonnaz (on the Verbier circuit but much cheaper & not so trendy)
Bulgaria, Vitosha - fantastic hotel, was the hunting lodge of the former polit bureau member of the USSR, but very poorly marked and maintained pistes.
Looking at France for next winter....with or without an ACL!
& I'm such a saddo (addict?) that I ski weekly at the local dry slope...or rather I did till I bust my knee.

Bedders, that's a very naughty thing to write. Your ex girlfriend is a free woman and can do what she likes, including skiing in Andorra!
