Anja - OKAY...heres the deal with my family. My little sister (i am the oldest and have 2 younger sisters, this is the middle child), megan, has Osgood schlatters in both knees. She has a VERY low tolerance of pain and so camplains about every little thing that comes with knee problems. I am just the opposite. I dont want to take peoples time up whining about my knees when i know they dont understand what im going through. I only do that on this board because if i dont have someone to talk to for support about my knee problems, id be having melt-downs everyday. I HATE complaining!!! Because of this, my parents think that everything is all fine and dandy with my knees. So they focus on megan (whose knee problems are nothing compared to mine). The OS we took her to said it was just minor, so minor in fact, that she can continue with her sports. If i was given that statment i would be so d*** happy. She groans and complains when she has to go to soccer practice. I would die for a chance like that!!!! She hates it.....the only thing she likes about it is winning!!! I love the adreneline rushes!!!! Im hooked on them like a drug!!! Anyway...back on topic......i rarely complain so my parents often dont know im in pain because i have been hiding this for years and can mask the painful look on my face like a pro. Lately i have been complaining a lot. My dad thinks im overeggagerating and my mom doesnt really help that much either. When i tell her that im in pain, she says "Im sorry.....put some ice on it and take some alleve". Like i dont know how to handle this already....i guess what im really looking for when i tell her this is comfort and support. I have to practically beg her to take me to the OS. So i dont ask her that often only when im REALLY concerned, mainly because its such a PITA!!! Well thats my background......!!! Sorry it was so long!!!!  :P  :'(
Tommorrow is our first band compitition!!!!! YEAH!!!!! At 6:45AM we have a breakfast for all the clarinet players, then we have rehersal at 7:45. Around noon we stop for lunch. Then we go out for more practice. We head over to the high school that we are performing at around 2:30. Its a 2 1/2 hour drive. We perform later in the night, then they hand out awards and announce the placements. We get back home at about 1:30 AM the next morning!!!! FUN FUN FUN!!!!!  ;D  ;D  ;D

Hey Chelsea - think it might be an idea to sit down with your parents and have a serious chat about the state of your knees, and that you need to see the OS againg - yeah my kids have a moan and groan about aches and pains but until they actually say to me that they are worried then I tend to do the same as your parents.Alternatively you are old enough to take yourself to the doctors and explain it all and ask for a referral - ummm but then I suppose you have to go through insurance and stuff which your parents need to sort.

Chelsea..I tell you here and now..do you need anyone of us talking with your parents...cause we know you from here and how you feel and how your knees really are.
If you want me to mail them, phone them, talk to them over messenger or here I would happily help you out. Sometimes we need help from others.

If you have trouble talking to them, why not print off copies of all your posts here and let them read them. They are a good record of how you have been feeling every day and how much you want to continue with band but how difficult that has become.

Thanks for your help you three!!! I really appreciate it.
Anja - I cant drive and i dont think my mom will just drop me off at the OS. Besides, i dont think hell take a 15 yr old serious if i go in there without my mom.
Nettan - I really appreciated you post it show me just how much you care for everyone!!! Love ya'  :-* !!! I was thinking....maybe you could post something to them on here and when they get home (they are at my sisters soccer matches), i will show them some of my recent posts, and what you wrote. Maybe that would be easier. Id really appreciate it. THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU DO!!!! You always keep my spirits up....especially with the hilarious PB posts!!!
Janet - Thanks for your advice. It sounds good to me. I think ill use it!!!
WE WON OUR BAND COMPITITION.......1ST PLACE......wOoT!!!!!
My knees almost didnt make it!!! 6hrs of rehersal, then we were on a bus for 2 1/2 hours with my knees squished into the seat. PAINFUL STUFF!!! We got off stretched, put our uniforms on. Practices for 2 more hrs., then we perfromed!!!! We were the last band so we just stayed on the sideline to listen to the awards. After we got back to the buses and started taking our uniforms off. I took my knee brace off. As soon as it was off, i started felling that "its going to dislocate" feeling. Then we had to ride back on the buses with my knees squished into the seat AGAIN!!! By the time i got home (at 2:30), i couldnt walk and had to sleep on the couch downstairs!!!   :P  But we won......and i was a part of it!!!!!!  ;D  ;D  ;)  ;)

Hey Nettan - that is a brilliant idea - you should do it and then Chelsea has it there to print off!!! - I think you would be better at writing something than me - but I really think that she should see someone.

Chelsea - it really is a good idea - and your os should take you seriously whether your mom is there or not - but I do think she should be with you.

Practice was good for the most part. We did more choreography but my section was not included in this so we just sat in the mud. But my kneecaps still feel like theyre going to dislocate at any minute. I have never had this feeling before 2 weeks ago so that kinda worys me!!! If it still bugs me next week i will go to the OS (i know i said this last week, but im giving my knees another chance). The thing is, i usually dont feel this dislocating thing when i am wearing my knee brace but today i did. I just keep telling myself, that if i cant handle this and i go to the OS, i might have to have another surgery. This thought really scares me so i guess thats what keeping me from making the trip to the OS  :P !!!
Anyway.....am stressed cause i have so much work!!!! We already have another book assigned to us!!! I AM SO STRESSED!!!! School is WAY to much during marching band season!!!
