Yeah! another milestone!!
« on: June 22, 2006, 01:05:01 PM »
3 weeks post op tomorrow and I went on a bike at the gym and had no problems or pain at all!!
Cycled for 10 mins at level 7 out of 10 at about 60RPM, could have done more but didnt want to push it too much.

Home now and still no side effects at all.

Also lifting 35kg on my bad leg with the legpress, the same as I can on my good leg, need to lift that a lot more, but a good start and equal strength!

Wooooohoooo!!
Injured whileplaying football 18/10/05
Ruptured ACL
Torn Meniscus
Impaction fracture to Tibia
Torn Muscles around my Knee.
Went to A&E told it was just an Infusion (swelling) and take painkillers. Returned to football and did more damage and finally got MRI.

I had a patellar tendon graft, my OS was insistant that I got working on my leg right away and didnt want me in a brace at all.
My ROM is at about 125 now, not had any massage's though :( lol.

My physio has me on my balance board etc and once my quads are controlled enough to start cycling, i think they are so went for it and it felt GREAT!

All OS and PT have different protocols for recovery, its probably what suits you better.

Allan
That sounds great. i wish my os was so pro active, as I feel I could do so much more. But yet again he knows what he did in there.

I would suggest talking to your physical therapist.  Your slower rate of initial rehab is likely due to the hamstring harvest site.

Geez! Already hitting the weights? I'm two weeks in and my doctor will not allow me to do anything until the bone has healed at about 6 weeks! I have about 137 degrees and my OS + PT only let me have minimal resistance. I used to be very active and my quad, hamstring, and calf have atrophied greatly so I really want to hit the weights.

You're lucky!
