TKR infection revision
« on: February 12, 2006, 06:53:54 AM »
Has anyone had this 2 stage revions due to infection (where the porsthetic is removed for 2 months, youare given antibiotics and your knee is packed to remove the infection).  Is it painful?  Can I recuperate at home?  Can anyone point me in a direction to read more about this?  Thanks!  Sarah

Sarah,

I just wanted to respond to your post. Good luck with this and hope all works out well. Sorry that I can't be more helpful than this.       Matt

I had the prosthetic (horribly infected) removed in February.  I am now on my 4th week of vancomycin with a cement spacer in my knee with gentomycin and one other .  I had a gram neg staph infection.  I will see the infectious deisease doc and the os sometime in April and have a new prosthetic put in.  Sarah
