what does a broken knee feel like?
« on: November 04, 2005, 03:38:05 PM »
I got hurt yesterday morning on a horse.  I hit my knee pretty hard, and instantly it hurt.  It swelled up last night...but it look like my knee cap itself was getting bigger...there wasn't a lot of fluid.  I can't move it, and I can't walk.  When I do it feels like it's on fire.  This morning is was puffy, and now you can't even see the knee cap.  it's turning black.  Do you think it's badly bruised, or possibly broken?

GO TO THE DOCTOR! in the meantime, put ice on it, keep it elevated and stay seated as much as possible.
8/1/05-loud pop in left knee during dance class, no pain
8/6-ignored my knee for days, causing pain
8/11-OS knee specialist
9/19-no better, full imaging tests
9/26-diag: partial dislocation of patella, popped back & caused bone bruise - 4-6 month recovery period
11/15-getting more mobile...finally

It sounds like you may have broken your kneecap, feel free to check out my own experience with this at www.hugeknee.blogspot.com

On the links on this blog you can see pictures of how my knee looked after I broke it but before I had surgery.

There was a large amount of swelling, and it did hurt quite a bit. But I only thought it was a torn ligament until I got the diagnosis from radilology.
